Bro first Moeen now Elgar wth. Indian batsmen used to murder spin like no other. Why have standards of playing spin dropped. Young Indian bats seem much more comfortable against pacers than spinners. Have the think tank given too much preference to overseas tours. And forgotten on teaching them the art of playing spin.

Too much T20 and not enough practice against real turn. Having said that I do think that the surface is very tricky when a part time can extract that amount of turn.

Swann and Panesar ?

Yeah...true but that was an over the hill team asking to be owned.

Gambo, Sehwag, Sachin and Yuvi were duds. When 4 out of 7 are duds, its asking for trouble.

But a proper team used to destroy all spinners but now....

I thought in domestic they would get a fairly decent sample of all types of turning tracks.

Domestic pitches I guess. Only time will tell whether we have good spin playing replacements.

Very grim situation now.

You got to sort the no ball problem in the nets. Hopefully he learns from this.

As usual Ashwin has the habit of getting out in the penultimate over before lunch or tea or close of play.

No ball saved him.

How is he playing?

I think Jaddu is batting confidently. How is he playing too?

Peak Sehwag would have put Elgar 10 rows back.

Peak Sachin and Ganguly would have as well. And Dravid and laxman would have driven, cut and pulled him all day long.

Hopefully Amla will get a big double ton when S.A come to bat on this moon dust pitch!

I said guys that Sir will be the player to watch out for India in this series. You guys laughed. Now watch Sir bail us out in the batting department too. Is there anything this guy can't do :don

Why is Umesh slogging?BTW does anyone think pitch will settle in on day 2?

SA will bat last on this pitch and the 5th day pitch here could be unplayable. If India can limit lead to 100 odd they can get back into the game. Any fourth innings chase above 150 can be very tricky here.

India will win. Saffers will be bowled out 250. India will make 300 third innings. Kohli ton. Ashwin bundles Saffers out for 175-200.

Ashwin needs to get the ball exactly on the off stump line and spin it away.

Not exactly getting it perfect.

But look like match will end within 3 or 4 days..

SA need to bat well and get a good lead.

The ball is staying low and I think it will be difficult chasing anything around 200 on day 4/5.

SA need to be postive against spinners - they can't just prod around on this wicket.

Ashwin is going to take both of these lefties - they seem out of their depth against spin.

Good strategy not to open with pacers, Kohli keeping them fresh for some reverse later in the day. What a captain ! :kohli

Here is what India need to do in 2nd test:

1) Get rid of Dhawan and make Rohit open with Vijay. The next test in Bangalore Patta, a lucky ground for Sharma and he should not have any problem facing the new ball.

2) Get rid of Saha who is not a test class. Get Naman Ojha in the side...or try Lokesh Rahul as a keeper bat.

3) Bring back our saviour Lord Ishant Sharma.

Good. One wicket.

But not much spin.

And I noticed Ashwin is getting a lot of drift which makes the ball land on middle. He has to figure out to make it land on poff stump 6 balls in an over and something will happen.

I am not watching the game...how is Ash bowling SIF? Is he back at his previous best like he was in SL or still recuparating from injury?

On this pitch, Amla will be the biggest danger. Technically, he is best equipped to handle these conditions.

He looks the same thankfully.

Bowling well but just not on the perfect spot more times. Its not like he is wayward...he's tight but what's happening is that he is bowling to land it on the off but its drifting to land on the middle and batsmen struggle but don't get out. This happens sometimes.

When he gets it to land on the off stump area, genuine wicket chances are coming.

Needs to hit that place 6 times an over and lefties won't stand a chance against him.

And its taking a while for the ball to start spinning. As of now...zero to mininal spin. Commies are saying it takes awhile.

So have to watch more to see how the ball behaves.

Ashwin vs Faf would be fun.

Bit hard for ashwin to bowl like that coming back immediately from an injury on a pitch with only decent turn.
