I can’t tell about checkpoints, he is my second cousin so not sure what are the checkpoints..

So what stops him from continuing to get the money while secretly practising his own religion at home?

I am sure a lot of converts actually do that, take money while practising their own religion at home.

Free money and sounds smart to use them devils.

I have a day off today and watching live Indian news (aaj tak) in youtube. The commercial breaks are very interesting.

Forget election, all I want to know is how Vimal Guthka company able to cast SRK, Ajay Devgan & Tiger Shroff together? Something many big film producers failed to do so.

ED should raid Vimal first :ROFLMAO:

New Delhi: Voting is on in 88 constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories amid a furious row between the Congress and the BJP over manifesto and inheritance tax. Election will be held on all seats of Kerala, a chunk of Rajasthan and UP.

NDTV

Polling for the second phase is being held for 20 seats in Kerala, 14 seats in Karnataka, 13 in Rajasthan, eight each in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, seven in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam and Bihar, three each in Bengal and Chhattisgarh and one each in Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur and Tripura. An average turnout of 50 per cent has been recorded till 3 pm.

NDTV

Earlier, 89 constituencies were expected to vote in this phase. But polling in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, was rescheduled after the death of a candidate from Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party. Betul will now vote in the third phase, due on May 7.

NDTV

Key candidates for this round include the Congress's Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel. and Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot, BJP's Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar -- up against Congress's Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram; actors Hema Malini, and Arun Govil from 1980s iconic serial Ramayan, senior BJP leader Tejasvi Surya and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

NDTV

For both BJP and the Opposition, the most crucial states in this phase will be Karnataka and Kerala. In 2019, BJP won 25 of Karnataka's 28 Lok Sabha seats, but the Congress clinched a win in the last assembly election. The party is hoping to do well amid concerns about delimitation and the disadvantage southern states could face after it.

NDTV

Further south, the BJP is trying to break into the bipolar politics of Kerala. The party is hoping to open its account in the state, having fielded Union ministers Rajiv Chandrasekhar and V Muraleedharan. In Wayanad, a Congress bastion for over 20 years, it has fielded its state unit president K Surendran against Rahul Gandhi.

That’s a fair question but i didn't ask him that, in his words he believes in Jesus and he also believes in Guru Nanak but doesn’t go to Gurudwara..

I just see that there are many in his church(his status updates), and he does promote his church(which looks like a house)

Priyanka Gandhi responds to Narendra Modi's ‘mangalsutra’ attack: ‘Uncle's nonsense at weddings’

Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi's relentless attack over "wealth redistribution" to an uncle who “spouts nonsense in a corner at weddings.”

“One day, if such an ‘Uncle Ji’ starts saying that be careful, if the Congress comes to power, it will steal your jewellery and mangalsutra and give it to someone else,” Priyanka Gandhi said at an election rally in Gujarat's Valsad.

“So what would you do after hearing all this… you would laugh!” Gandhi said.

“Today the prime minister of the country is talking such nonsense to you because he thinks people will take his words seriously given the importance of the post he holds,” she added.

In the past few days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shifted his line of attack – from dynastic politics and corruption to the Congress's alleged plan of wealth redistribution and inheritance tax. PM Modi has been claiming in his election rallies that the Congress party would snatch gold ornaments, including ‘mangalsutra’, of women and redistribute them.

“He is now warning people that Congress will enter their houses with an X-ray machine to conduct a search, then snatch your ornaments as well as ‘mangalsutra’ kept in safes and give it away to others. Is that even possible? Is he doing this out of nervousness,” Priyanka Gandhi responded.

She also targeted Modi over inflation, calling him a “mehengai” man.

“BJP leaders and candidates are saying that they will change the Constitution. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi is denying it. This is their tactic,” she said at a public rally at Dharampur village of tribal-dominated Valsad district held in support of Congress candidate for ST-reserved Valsad Lok Sabha seat, Anant Patel.

On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also targeted Modi over his claims saying he is scared and may even shed tears on the stage.

"You have heard the prime minister’s speeches. He is scared. It’s possible that he may shed tears on stage," Gandhi said.

Petrol bomb hurled at Meghalaya Dy CM’s residence, security tightened

Meghalaya police have strengthened security around the residence of state’s deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar after a petrol bomb was hurled at his residence located at Nongmensong in the suburbs of capital Shillong on Friday, officials said.

Police said that a petrol bomb was hurled at the residence of the deputy CM allegedly by unknown miscreants, adding that there were no reports of injuries to anyone and no considerable damage was inflicted on the property.

The petrol bomb was lobbed from outside the high-walled with concertina barbed fencing which landed at the balcony of Dhar’s residence. Soon after, the deputy CM lodged a first information report at the Nongmensong police outpost.

Confirming the incident, East Khasi Hills superintendent of police (SP) Rithuraj Ravi said an object had landed on the balcony of the VIP’s residence.

When asked about the the nature and type of object, the SP responded, “We are not ruling out anything as of now, the object is currently being examined by our forensics team."

The SP has appealed to the general public not to take the law into their hands assuring that the culprits would be apprehended soon.

He added that following the current incident and an alleged attack on April 24 in the Demthring area in the capital city on the escort vehicle of the Director of NEEPCO [North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited] (personnel), Major Gen (Retd) R.K. Jha, “Police have augmented security at the residences of all VIPs and vital installations”.

Notably, three weeks ago, the Mawlai Police Station was also attacked with a Molotov cocktail by unknown assailants, resulting in severe damage to one police vehicle.

Lol, good start by sold out media. It's so cringe to see feku hurling lies after lies. Without a shadow of doubt, feku has harmed the respected chair the most of all PMs we have had. And hopefully our future generations will be able to see that.

I think BJP will still win and Modi will become the PM again.

However, if by any miracle opposition comes to power and they do not put these sellout anchors behind bars, fine or close down sellout news channels and create laws for limiting political ads in media and other laws to keep media away from politics, it will be the biggest travesty.

If they don’t do that and in future BJP comes into power again then opposition deserves to all be spanked around by the BJP.

Poll Body Asks AAP To Modify Campaign Song; What About BJP, Says Atishi

The Election Commission has told the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to modify its campaign song over complaints that it violated rules on advertising and the poll body's guidelines during the election season.

The BJP had complained to the Election Commission (EC) that the AAP's campaign song took a swipe at central investigation agencies and the party.

The AAP has been at war with the Enforcement Directorate over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders linked to the Delhi liquor policy case, which the AAP says is a cooked up case.

Big slap on the face of India alliance to manipulate Indian election like what they did in JNU election

The Supreme Court today rejected a batch of petitions seeking 100% cross-verification of vote count in electronic voting machines (EVMs) with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) paper slips. It has also declined a plea to bring back paper ballots for the voting process.

The main opinion of Justice Sanjiv Khanna was concurred with by Justice Dipankar Datta in a separate opinion. The pronouncement of the verdict coincides with the second phase of polling for the General Elections to the Lok Sabha.

However, the Bench has issued a series of directions to strengthen the existing system. It has ordered sealing of the Symbol Loading Units (SLUs) after the symbol loading process on or after May 1, 2024. The sealed SLUs will be kept in the strong room along with the EVMs for 45 days after polling.

A recommendation to include an electronic machine for counting paper slips and bar codes along with symbols for political parties has also been made. However, it rejected pleas advanced by the petitioners to give voters access to VVPAT paper slips to put physically into the ballot boxes.

Arvinder Singh Lovely Resigns From Delhi Congress Chief Post

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from his post as city president of the grand old party on Sunday, citing the alliance with AAP as his reason.

"Since my appointment as DPCC President, the AICC General Secretary (Delhi In-charge) has not allowed me to make any senior appointments in the DPCC. My request for the appointment of a veteran leader as Media head of DPCC was blatantly rejected. Resultantly more than 150 blocks in Delhi do not presently have a Block President," he said.

Delhi HC dismisses plea for 6 years ban on PM Modi from election

The Delhi High Court on April 28 dismissed a petition seeking to order the Election Commission of India (ECI) to act against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct (MCC) by allegedly seeking votes for the upcoming Lok Sabha election “in the name of god and place of worship”.

Justice Sachin Datta said the present petition filed by Mr Anand S. Jondhale, an advocate, is “thoroughly misconceived for multiple reasons”. The judge said the poll panel is presently seized of a complaint filed by Mr Jondhale against Mr Modi.

“Once the petitioner [Mr Jondhale] has submitted his complaint on April 10 at the ECI, there is no occasion for the petitioner to approach the court prior to the disposal of his complaint by the ECI,” the court said.

Mr Jondhale had also sought a direction to the ECI to disqualify Mr Modi from elections for six years under the Representation of Peoples Act.

His plea is premised on the allegation that during a speech delivered by the Prime Minister at Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh on April 9, an appeal was made to the voters to vote for his party “in the name of Hindu deities and places of worship and also in the name of Sikh deities and Sikh places of worship”.

The high court, however, said, “the petitioner presupposes that there has been a violation of model code of conduct...this pre-supposition is completely unjustified”.

“It is also not permissible for the court to direct the ECI to take a particular view on the petitioner’s complaint or any other complaint for that matter. The ECI is obliged to take an independent view on petitioner’s complaint,” the judge added.

During the brief hearing, ECI’s counsel submitted that the complaint made by Mr Jondhale will be duly processed and appropriate orders will be passed.

Following this, the high court dismissed the plea, saying, “if the petitioner is aggrieved by the ECI’s order, it can take appropriate legal remedies”.

Earlier this month, Mr Jondhale had complained to the poll panel against Prime Minister Modi regarding the same issue. “But till date no action has been taken by the Respondent No.1. [ECI],” his petition had stated.

“Respondent No.2 [Prime Minister Modi] said that he has constructed the Ram Temple. Respondent No.2 also stated that he developed Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and removed GST from material used in Langars served in Gurudwaras. The Respondent No.2 also said that he had brought back the copies of Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan,” the plea stated.

Mr Jondhale further claimed that Prime Minister Modi “not only sought votes in the name of Hindu and Sikh Deities and their Places of Worship, but also made comments against opposite political parties as favoring Muslims”.

“Thus, the Respondent No.2 has violated the Model Code of Conduct...which states that no Party or candidate shall include in any activity which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes or communities, religious or linguistic,” the plea said.

Amit Shah’s doctored video case: Delhi police asks Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to join probe

Delhi Police has asked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to join the probe on May 1 in connection with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's doctored video being circulated on social media, official sources said on April 29.

Delhi Police has asked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to join the probe on May 1 in connection with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's doctored video being circulated on social media, official sources said on April 29.

According to sources, the police served notices to five people, including Mr. Reddy, who posted the video on X.

Mr. Reddy, who is also the Telangana Congress chief, has been asked to appear with his mobile phone allegedly used for posting the fake video on X, according to sources.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police had on Sunday registered an FIR after the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs, filed a complaint about the doctored video of Shah where his statements indicating a commitment to abolish quota for Muslims on religious ground in Telangana were changed to make it seem that he was advocating scrapping all reservations.

The case was registered under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act, they said.

The sources in the Special Cell said that now arrests are likely to follow across the country.

Arvind Kejriwal Tells Supreme Court Why He Filed No Bail Petition

Arvind Kejriwal's arrest is illegal, the Supreme Court was told today by the counsel of the Delhi Chief Minister. Mr Kejriwal, whose name was not included in 10 documents -- including CBI chargesheets and ED prosecution complaint -- till December, 2023, was arrested from his home without any questioning or recording of his statement as required by the anti-money laundering law, said senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

"Power to arrest is not the same as a need to arrest. Guilt has to be made out, not mere suspicion... This is also the threshold in Section 45 PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act)," he added.

Mr Kejriwal has challenged his arrest in the top court and filed an application for interim release, arguing that the arrest being illegal, his subsequent placement in custody is also unlawful.

Asked why Mr Kejriwal has not filed a petition for bail in the trial court, Mr Singhvi told the bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta that they have approached the Supreme Court because it has "wider jurisdiction".

The Enforcement Directorate had arrested Mr Kejriwal on March 21 after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him protection. The Chief Minister is currently lodged in the Tihar jail. Mr Kejriwal has argued that the court's refusal to grant protection cannot be ground for arrest.

"The denial in interim of my bail cannot be ground to come to my home for arrest. The arrest did not happen for 1.5 years. They arrested me from my home. They did not record Section 50 statement there," the counsel said.

In his affidavit, Mr Kejriwal has condemned his arrest as politically motivated, arguing that was meant to provide unfair advantages the ruling party during the ongoing general election. The case, he has argued, is a prime example of the Central government's misuse of investigative agencies to harass political opponents.

The Enforcement Directorate has argued that Mr Kejriwal's arrest became necessary due to his "total non-co-operative attitude".
The affidavit said that Mr Kejriwal was avoiding interrogation by not remaining present before the investigating officer despite being summoned nine times and while recording his statement under Section 17 of the PMLA, he was evasive and uncooperative.

The hearing will continue tomorrow.

Modi says he is set for landslide victory as backlash grows over campaign trail ‘lies and bigotry’

Narendra Modi has claimed that he is on the way to a “thumping victory” in India’s ongoing national elections amid allegations that his campaign speeches and interviews are filled with hate speech and falsehoods.

Mr Modi has been on a whirlwind tour of the country campaigning for a rare third consecutive term as prime minister.

The elections began on 19 April and conclude with the declaration of the results on 4 June.

In an interview with The Times of India newspaper, Mr Modi said he has witnessed “unprecedented display of love, affection and support” for his Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party at his campaign rallies.

This makes him confident, he added, that his ruling National Democratic Alliance is “on track to cross the 400 mark”, far more than the 272 seats needed for majority in the 543-seat lower house of parliament, the Lok Sabha.
“The people have seen what we can deliver and we believe that we can deliver and we believe that the people want a better tomorrow and they know that a vote for BJP means a vote towards development,” Mr Modi told the newspaper.

Mr Modi, who hasn’t held a press conference in his 10 years as prime minister or taken unscripted questions from journalists, has given just a handful of interviews to major newspapers in this election season, mainly targeting the opposition Congress party.

In these interviews and in his campaign speeches, he has been accused of lying and spreading sectarian hatred, especially against the Muslim minority. India’s Election Commission has confirmed it is investigating whether comments made in a rally about “infiltrators” and “those who have many children” constitute hate speech towards Muslims.

“In the history of India, no prime minister has lowered the dignity of his post as much as Modiji has,” Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said.

The news website Scroll analysed Mr Modi’s speeches delivered over the course of five days and said they constituted a “catalogue of lies”. The website found that the prime minister overstated the success of his party’s welfare schemes and used “divisive lies” to attack the Congress party’s campaign promises.

Mr Modi has, for example, falsely claimed that the Congress party’s manifesto pledges to take wealth from Hindus in the form of inheritance tax and distribute it to minorities.

Scroll noted that even Mr Modi’s dog whistle reference to Muslims – “those who have many children” – was inaccurate as the fertility rate of Indian Muslims was declining faster than that of all other religious communities.

The Congress’s manifesto does not promise any welfare measure specifically for Muslims. In fact, it does not mention the word “Muslim” at all.

In a speech in Aligarh in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Modi claimed that Congress’s former president Rahul Gandhi “has said if the party comes to power a survey will be conducted to find out how much income, property, wealth, houses you have” and that it will “seize and redistribute the property”.

The opposition party’s manifesto does indeed pledge to redistribute the country’s wealth but not from Hindus to Muslims as Mr Modi implied. “Congress will establish an authority to monitor the distribution to the poor of government land and surplus land under the land ceiling Acts,” the document states.

At the manifesto’s launch on 6 April, Mr Gandhi addressed the question of wealth distribution saying that the Congress “will do an X-ray of the country” so that the underprivileged get their fair share. He did not mention private wealth.

“Backward classes, Dalits, Adivasis, poor people belonging to the general category, and minorities will get to know what their share is in the country,” he said.

In a speech on 25 April in Morena in the heartland state of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Modi spoke about inheritance and wealth taxes, a hot campaign issue with the ruling party and the opposition accusing each other of being in favour of imposing them.

He declared, without evidence, that when former prime minister Indira Gandhi died, her son and successor Rajiv Gandhi abolished the inheritance tax “to inherit her property, to ensure the government didn’t get the money”. Rajiv Gandhi is Rahul Gandhi’s late father.

It was an estate duty on a deceased person’s assets that the Rajiv Gandhi government had abolished in 1985, not inheritance tax. The policy would apply from 16 March 1985. Indira Gandhi had been assassinated on 31 October 1984.

Mr Modi went on to falsely claim that the Congress would implement inheritance tax if voted to power.

The Congress has announced no such plan. The party manifesto only promises to “address the growing inequality of wealth and income through suitable changes in policies”.

Senior leaders of Mr Modi’s party have followed him in amplifying sectarian bigotry as well as falsehoods about the Congress’s manifesto even as they have accused opposition leaders of spreading lies.

The ruling party’s president, JP Nadda, accused the Congress of “reflecting the ideology of the Muslim League” in its campaign promises. The Muslim League was a political party in British India that advocated for the interests of Muslims and played a pivotal role in the establishment of Pakistan.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also from Mr Modi’s party, said the Congress’s manifesto seemingly aimed to serve Pakistan rather than India.

In his now-deleted post, Govil wrote on X, "Jab kisi ka dohra charitra saamne aata hai, to uss se adhik swayam pe krodh aata hai ki hamne kaise aankh band karke aise aadmi pe bharosa kiya. Jai Sri Ram." ("When someone's duplicity comes to light, it invokes more anger towards oneself, realizing how we trusted such an individual with closed eyes. Jai Shri Ram ??").

The enigmatic nature of the post, coupled with Govil's decision to remove it shortly after posting, has fueled intense speculation about its intended target and implications.

Adding to the intrigue, Govil's sudden departure to Mumbai just a day after polling concluded in Meerut on April 26 has raised eyebrows. Citing urgent work in Mumbai, Govil's unexpected absence has raised questions about the BJP's strategy in the crucial electoral battleground of Meerut.

It seems even Shri Ram isn't happy with BJP or has he seen the real of BJP? :inti

PM Modi while addressing a public rally in Sabarkantha, Gujarat:

"Today I can say with satisfaction that I have not left any stone unturned. These Congress people used to threaten people that there will be chaos across the country if Ram Mandir is built. This shows how far Congress people are from reality, and keep threatening people for the sake of their vote bank politics."

"The construction of Ram Mandir should have started a day after the country got Independence, but it didn't happen. For 70-75 years, the Congress made attempts to not let it happen. They changed laws so that Ram Mandir is not built."

Pakistan crying because Congress dying: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday dubbed the Congress party a "disciple" of Pakistan, and said the neighbouring country was eager to make the 'shehzada' of the grand old party the next prime minister of India.

His comments came amid reports that Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, a former minister in Imran Khan's cabinet in Pakistan, shared a video featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his social media handle and praised him.

"Pakistan is crying because Congress is dying here. Pakistani leaders are praying for Congress. Pakistan is eager to make 'shehzada' (referring to Rahul Gandhi) the next prime minister. This is not surprising because we already know that Congress is Pakistan's 'mureed' (disciple). The partnership between Pakistan and Congress has been exposed. It shows the country's enemies want a weak government in India, not a strong one," Modi said.

Addressing a poll rally in Anand town of central Gujarat in support of BJP candidates for Anand and Kheda Lok Sabha seats, PM Modi also took a dig at Congress over opposition leader Salman Khurshid's niece Maria Alam's call for 'vote jihad'.

"Now, the INDI alliance calls for 'vote jihad'. We have so far heard about 'love jihad' and 'land Jihad'. This (vote jihad) is said by a person who belonged to an educated Muslim family, not by someone who studied in a madrasa. I hope you all know what the meaning of jihad is. This is an insult to democracy and not a single Congress leader has condemned it," he said.

He alleged that the Congress wants to change the country's Constitution to give reservation of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities to Muslims. The prime minister also challenged the Congress to give in writing that it will not change the Constitution to provide reservation on the basis of religion and that it will not give backdoor quota to Muslims in states where it and its allies are in power. India is being seen as a peacemaker in the world today," he said, adding that it was his guarantee that he would work 24x7 to make India a developed country by 2047.

Modi said in the last 10 years, his government provided tap water connections to 14 crore houses, while the Congress-led dispensations gave it to just 3 crore houses in 60 years of its rule. PTI

'Cut electricity if they didn't vote': Congress MLA Raju Kage gets EC notice for threatening voters in Karnataka

The Election Commission of India on Thursday served notice to Congress MLA Raju Kage for allegedly giving a controversial statement during an election campaign in Madabavi Gram Panchayat on April 30.

In his speech, he allegedly threatened the voters in the Jugulato region to cut electricity if they didn't vote for the party by a huge margin.

Kage's speech went viral on social media.

In a report by NDTV, the Congress MLA in Kannada said, "I got fewer votes in some places. Forget about Shahpura. I won't talk much about it; if I do, worms will enter my mouth. If we don't get more votes, we will disconnect your electricity. Therefore, that shouldn't happen. Remember, I will stick to what I have said".

Kage, during a campaign rally in Mamadapur village in Karnataka's Belagavi district also said, "If Modi dies, is there no other person to become Prime Minister among the 140 crore population?"

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Malavika Avinash condemned Kage's statement. “It is an insult to the Prime Minister as it amounted to insulting the person and the position," she said.

"I am sure the people will never forgive such remarks. We are confident that Mr. Modi will be elected as the Prime Minister for the third time with the blessings of the people," she added.

Kage was previously in the BJP. The Kagwad MLA quit the saffron party and joined Congress along with his friend Laxman Savadi before the state assembly election.

The Kagwad Assembly constituency is part of the Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat. The polling for the Lok Sabha polls happened on April 26.

The polling in 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka was held on April 26. The remaining constituencies will cast a vote on May 7.

Data suggests its tight.

BJP will be the party with the highest seats but whether they will form the government looks tricky.

Not looking too good for Modi, so he is talking like a madman and fearmongering.

But on ground its not clicking.

If you go by posters here, BJP will win 400 seats here.

Hey SIF bro, long time...how you been?

You 'Indian Politics' thread is superhit here. You can find brother @pillionrider and me there 24*7

On topic, which data it is that is suggesting the fight is tight? Not doubting your statement at all but just asking since I don't live in India.

All the survey and opinion polls saying NDA is winning by big margin.

As far as Modi's polarizing statements are concerned, it is only to excite their core voters to come out and vote as in 1st phase as BJP supporters took it lightly. However, that does not mean BJP is losing, isn't it?

Please confirm what I am missing here?

SIF overall is a good poster, sometimes leaves his heart on sleeve, hence you see posts suggesting a Raul Puppu led alliance and PM Modi are going neck and neck, reality is far from it.

We all know BJP is winning this, a few more months go.

If someone as dumb as our Italian Waitress's son was not in charge of Congress then PM Modi would have to been worried, however as it is our Puppu, aka loved in Pakistan/China, BJP got this kitty in the bag.

As much as I like SIF as a poster, just the fact he thinks our Raul Puppu who has a brain of a 5 year old is capable of running the country tells me not all is functioning properly for SIF also and you take his opinion with a grain of salt...

SIF has been propping up our Italiano Waitress's son for years, now...

Won't ever talk about the issues that affect common Indians but always talk about his pet issues, Nehru, Congress, Muslims, temple, blah blah. As if blabbering about these will give Indians something to eat and jobs.

Pathetic from Congress. What else can you expect from this party's leaders?

"Congress Creating Atmosphere Of Tension": BJP Complaints To Election Body

The BJP on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against the Congress, alleging it is trying to create an "atmosphere of tension" in the society and spreading lies that the Constitution will be changed.

The opposition parties have been alleging that the BJP is seeking more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections as it wants to change the Constitution and end quotas for the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi and party leader Om Pathak approached the commission with the complaint in which the BJP also accused the opposition INDIA bloc parties, including the Congress, of uploading and sharing deepfake videos.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been attacking members of the INDIA bloc over a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's speech going viral on social media.

The Delhi Police had on Sunday registered an FIR after the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which is under the home ministry, filed a complaint in the doctored video case. It has, since then, summoned 22 people, including Congress leader and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Jharkhand Congress chief Rajesh Thakur.

"The Congress and other opposition parties are continuously spreading lies about individuals, policies and the constitutional system. Efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of tension in the society. We brought to the notice of the Election Commission (EC) more than 15 such instances," Trivedi told reporters after meeting the officials of the poll panel here.

In a bid to create hurdles in the conduct of a free and fair elections, this is being done by the Congress and its allies in an "organised manner", he alleged.

"The Congress is making such statements and its allies repeat them. And then their social media (units) spread the same lies, confusions and deepfake (videos) in an unlawful manner among the people," Trivedi said.

He said the poll panel gave a patient hearing to the BJP delegation and assured it of taking appropriate action.

Talking to reporters, Mr Chandrasekhar said, "In the last two phases of the elections, the Congress has consistently depended on a series of political lies that has emerged from as high as Rahul Gandhi to many of its leaders." The Congress is pursuing a political strategy based on lies and distortion of facts. It is misleading the people by making them believe in its lies such as the BJP will change the Constitution if it wins the elections, he said.

"The BJP delegation met the Election Commission and alerted it to the challenge that this will pose to free and fair conduct of polls," Mr Chandrasekhar said.

The EC should look into these issues at the earliest to ensure that elections are conducted freely and fairly and that people are not mislead by the Congress' "politics of lies", he said.

In its memorandum to the Election Commission, the ruling BJP referred to the speeches of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and the leaders of the other opposition parties when they claimed that the saffron party will change the Constitution and scrap reservation if voted to power.

It urged the poll panel to take a comprehensive view of the "design and pattern" of the Congress' misleading campaigns and propaganda and take an "effective action" against it to ensure a "fair play" in the election.

"Direct Rahul Gandhi to tender an unconditional public apology to the nation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making false allegations...Direct registration of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi under stringent provisions of law," the BJP demanded.

An "unending tirade" against the BJP is going on unchecked "despite many earlier representations to the Election Commission in this regard", the party added.

I had said, their biggest leader will not dare to contest. She will run away out of fear. She ran to Rajasthan and from there entered Rajya Sabha. That is exactly what happened," he said.

Lol at feku.

This is the same feku who got so many of his fellow sanghis (Smriti aunty, Jaitley, Hardeep Puri etc) to parliament through Rajya Sabha after they lost their LS elections.

Not only that, he also made them ministers. He also made current CM of Uttarakhand after he lost his assembly elections.

There won't be a bigger hypocrite and liar than feku.

Amit Shah: The quiet, feared strategist behind Modi’s rise

Narendra Modi will find out in June if he's won a record third term in a row as India's prime minister. After a decade in power he is omnipresent - but frequently seen at his side is a less talked-about politician, who has helped mastermind the extraordinary rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Amit Shah - often called India's "second most powerful man" - is a formidable old friend, Mr Modi's closest confidant and the brains behind his election juggernaut.

A hardline Hindu nationalist popularly known as Amitbhai, Mr Shah has charted numerous election wins for the BJP. He lacks the star power of the PM and is a more private man. But he is an excellent organiser and campaign strategist, a shrewd politician - and like Mr Modi, a hugely polarising figure.

His supporters view him as the "great defender of the Hindu faith" but those who dare cross him find a feared adversary.

Critics say he is the driving force behind some of India's most controversial legislation, including scrapping Kashmir's partial autonomy- which had been a BJP manifesto pledge for decades - and a new citizenship law that has been described as deeply discriminatory towards Muslims.

Speaking to the BBC, friends and colleagues who have known him since his school days and early career - even those who stood by him while he was briefly jailed - provided a rare insight into his early life. They described what they saw as the secret of his extraordinary success, and spoke of his deep loyalty, affection for party workers and appetite for hard work.

For years, Uttar Pradesh had been seen as unattainable, but in the 2014 general election the party won an unprecedented 71 of its 80 seats.

"Shah has a God's gift - a brain sharper than Chanakya," says Yatin Oza, a lawyer and former BJP politician who worked closely with Amit Shah for decades until the two fell out, comparing him to the iconic Indian strategist behind the spread of the subcontinent's first empire 2,000 years ago. And as Amit Shah's friends and rivals would all agree, his skills are put to brilliant use at election time.

He built on the 2014 success with historic state assembly election wins in 2017 and 2022. And in the 2019 general election, he led the party to a second, even bigger landslide.

Yatin Oza says he knew from the start that someday Amit Shah would "be at the helm".

"I saw that spark in him, that political shrewdness in him. I saw a horse going to win big races."

Devang Dani, a BJP councillor in Ahmedabad who has known Mr Shah for more than 30 years, says his "priority has always been to ensure his candidate wins".

"Whether it's the village council or the parliament, no election is too small. For Amitbhai, every war has to be won. It's because of Modi and Shah that the BJP went from two seats in the 1984 election to 303 in 2019."

This is where it all began:

Amit Shah was born in Mansa, a small town in Gujarat state, on 22nd October 1964. His father, Anilchandra, owned a small business making PVC pipes and his mother Kusumben was a housewife.

Childhood friend Sudhir Darji talks of Amit Shah's "strong connection with his ancestral land" and his regular visits to Mansa. He gives us a tour of the family grounds where Amit Shah lived, playing cricket and marbles with friends, until the age of 16 before his parents moved to Ahmedabad, Gujarat's largest city. We are escorted into Mr Shah's old family complex through his uncle's home - a spacious and shuttered middle class dwelling - next door.

At the nearby primary school the two boys attended, the playground, classrooms, toy cupboard and school bell haven't changed in half a century. As a child, Mr Darji says, Amit Shah was quite mild-mannered - he was bullied a fair bit by other students who would break his slate and steal his lunch. The two boys were also regularly summoned to the principal's office for behaving badly.

Amit Shah first met Narendra Modi in 1982 in Ahmedabad when he joined the right-wing Hindu Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological fountainhead of the BJP.

Mr Modi, an RSS pracharak (preacher) at the time, advised his younger colleague to join the BJP's student wing, the ABVP.

The two formed an immediate bond and as Mr Modi rose through the ranks, so did Mr Shah. Supporters describe them as "two wheels of a car" and compare them to the brothers Ram and Lakshman from the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Senior journalist Kingshuk Nag, editor of the Times of India in Gujarat in the early 2000s, says the two were a perfect fit - Narendra Modi who thrived on public adulation was the face, Amit Shah a "private, shy person" who kept away from the limelight.

He worked behind the scenes, building his base, winning friends and followers, and beating rivals and opponents in elections.

"Shah's importance lies in the fact that he's able to deliver the goods for Modi. He can do a lot of things that Modi can't. He is useful to Modi - he is the road roller who flattens the obstacles in his way," Mr Nag says.

Many of his critics did not want to talk about him openly, saying they genuinely feared him. Some bureaucrats have said they are unnerved by his "eerie gaze, stony eyes and dead face".

He honed his political skills in Gujarat

Amit Shah learned his political trade in his home state and over the years he established himself as Narendra Modi's right-hand man.

"He was good at spotting talent and backed young people he believed had potential," says RD Desai, a close aide who has known him since 1987. "But for more than a decade and a half after joining politics, he did not contest a single election, saying I have to build the organisation first."

That's an insight many of his early colleagues stress - Amit Shah always plays the long game.

He was first elected to the Gujarat assembly in 1997 when Narendra Modi picked him as a candidate from Sarkhej constituency. He held it in 1998, 2002 and 2007 and after the seat's dissolution in 2008, he moved to nearby Naranpura. He did not contest the 2014 general election, but was elected MP for Gandhinagar in 2019 and is standing there this year too.

The religious riots that swept Gujarat in February 2002 and their aftermath provided the backdrop against which the Modi-Shah relationship flourished. More than 1,000 people were killed, most of them Muslims.

Mr Modi, who was then Gujarat chief minister, was criticised for not doing enough to prevent the carnage. He denied any wrongdoing and was later cleared by courts too.

A few months after the riots when the BJP won the state elections in a very polarised Gujarat, Amit Shah was given a cabinet seat in charge of a dozen ministries.

The state police and prosecution, which reported to Mr Shah's home ministry, were criticised by the Supreme Court for their shoddy investigations into some of the riots cases. Describing it as "a miscarriage of justice", India's top court moved trials in two high-profile cases out of Gujarat. The Gujarat government also admitted in court that there had been "lapses on the part of the state police in registering cases and on the part of the prosecution in recording the evidence of witnesses".

Over the years, Amit Shah himself was accused of a role in the riots, but the allegations, which he denied, were never properly investigated.

Senior journalist Rajiv Shah, who owned an apartment in Sarkhej, wrote in the Times of India that when he asked him to work towards restoring peace in the area after the riots, Mr Shah asked him whether his house was in the Hindu or Muslim-majority area?

"When I told him the location, he replied, 'Don't bother. Nothing will happen to you. Whatever incidents happen will take place on the other side'."

The BBC contacted Mr Shah's office about this but did not receive a response.

Murder charges and time in jail

Amit Shah's life began unravelling in 2008 when he was accused in the 2005 extra-judicial killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, a Muslim civilian, and his wife Kausar Bi.

Mr Shah denied the accusations calling them "politically motivated", but he was arrested and charged with murder and kidnapping in 2010.

The timing couldn't have been more inopportune for him - until then, he had been widely seen as a future successor to Narendra Modi as chief minister. But he had to resign as state home minister and spent more than three months in jail.

When Mr Shah was freed on bail, the court ordered him to leave Gujarat to stop him from influencing witnesses.

Last December, he recalled his prison stint, saying it was "a tough period" and how he went "from being the jail minister to an inmate in five minutes".

Hitesh Barot, who first met Amit Shah in 1988 in the RSS, says it was "God testing him, but he came out on top. He had nothing to do with the case, it was fake". Mr Desai, who visited him in Delhi soon after his release, says "Shah changed adversity into opportunity".

"He said 'I will use this time to establish myself in Delhi and evict the Congress party from power and put Modi on the throne'."

In December 2014, six months after Narendra Modi became prime minister, the court cleared Amit Shah. Judge MB Gosavi said he accepted that the charges against him were politically motivated.

Although the federal police in their charge sheet in July 2010 had accused Mr Shah of interference in the investigation, they never appealed against his acquittal, leading to allegations that they were influenced by the BJP coming to power, a charge the party denies.

Mr Shah's acquittal was also surrounded by an unsavoury row. Days earlier, the judge hearing his case suffered a fatal heart attack. Family members alleged his death was suspicious and that there had been an attempt to bribe him. None of this was ever proved and the Supreme Court dismissed calls for an investigation.

Mr Shah's office did not respond to BBC questions over the family's allegations.

'Us and them'

Just like his leader and mentor, Amit Shah has often spoken about righting "historical blunders" that began when India became independent in 1947.

Scrapping Kashmir's special status and introducing the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which allows non-Muslim religious minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to seek Indian citizenship, were attempts to "right those wrongs".

The legislation attracted global condemnation - and came as instances of violence against Muslims, India's biggest religious minority with a population of more than 200 million, have been rising since 2014.

In 2019, human rights activists and the US State Department criticised Mr Shah for describing illegal Muslim immigrants as "termites" and threatening to "throw them into the Bay of Bengal". At election rallies, he routinely speaks of "us and them" - them being Muslims.

Some analysts see his language as strident campaigning, but Mr Oza believes they are deeply held personal beliefs.

"I really don't know why but I saw it the day I first met him. And till today, his anger, his prejudice, his dissatisfaction towards Muslim has been the same. His hatred and policy of non-acceptance remains the same and very firm and very rigid."

Mr Shah's office did not respond to our questions on this but his childhood friend Sudhir Darji disagrees. "He'll never say or do anything against Muslims. His aim is to take everyone forward, together."

Residents of Juhapura, Gujarat's biggest Muslim ghetto that falls in his constituency, however, told the BBC their MP had neglected them. We put this point to Mr Shah's office too, but did not hear back.

The corruption charges

Narendra Modi and Amit Shah often accuse their rivals of corruption, but in 2017, the BJP had to rally around Mr Shah to defend his only son - businessman Jay Amit Shah - after a news portal called The Wire accused him of corruption.

Shah junior - and his father - denied that his business had grown 16,000 times since the BJP came to power. He called the report "false, derogatory and defamatory" and sued The Wire. The case has still not been settled.

Opposition leaders also accused Mr Shah of nepotism in January 2021 when his son was appointed secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the cash-rich governing body of India's most popular sport.

While Mr Shah has defended his son, PM Modi remained silent. And that, some say, is an indication of how important he is to Mr Modi.

India's future prime minister?

The prime minister is 73 and in good health. So it's unlikely there'll be a vacancy for the top job soon. But Amit Shah's name crops up whenever the question - after Modi who? - arises.

At 60, age appears on the home minister's side, although he's had several health scares in recent years.

If he harbours any prime ministerial ambition, he hasn't articulated it. And no-one expects Mr Shah to cross the PM, who he has worked with for more than four decades.

"He is Modi's right-hand man and commander-in-chief. Modi trusts him fully and it's a given that Shah would never try to cross him," says Mr Nag.

Mr Oza says for Amit Shah "it's always, if it's not Modi, then it's no one else".

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and RSS attack democracy continuously and want to “destroy” the country’s Constitution.

Mr. Gandhi, who cancelled his visit to Odisha’s Rayagada district to address an election rally at the last moment for filing nomination papers for Raebareli Lok Sabha seat, has sent a video message in which he attacked the Sangh Parivar and the prime minister.

In the message, Mr. Gandhi said continuous attacks were made on democracy and the Constitution.

“The Congress party and INDIA bloc are trying to protect democracy and Constitution while Modi, BJP and RSS want to destroy it,” Mr. Gandhi said.

Whatever benefits the tribals, Dalits and backward communities have received, it was only because of the Constitution, he said.

“These people are trying to finish the book (Constitution) which has given you all these rights,” he said adding that without the Constitution, there would be nothing.

Congress tally to be all-time low in polls: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that Congress’ tally in the Lok Sabha polls will be an “all-time low”, as the grand old party would struggle to cross even the “half-century” mark in the hustings.

He also mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli seat, “sensing defeat” in Kerala’s Wayanad, where he is a sitting MP.

Addressing back-to-back rallies in the Bardhaman-Durgapur and Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituencies, Mr. Modi said that if Congress is voted to power, it would “snatch” quotas meant for the Scheduled Caste, Dalits and OBCs and give those to its “jihadi vote bank” to pursue the party’s “appeasement politics”.

Sonia Gandhi’s attempt to launch Rahul from Raebareli will fail: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after running away from Amethi and predicted that he will lose the polls there against the BJP candidate by a huge margin.

He also said former AICC President Sonia Gandhi’s multiple attempts to “launch” Rahul Gandhi had failed and claimed that this was the twenty-first attempt.

“Modi ji tried and at once Chandrayaan (mission to Moon) got launched. Sonia Gandhi has launched this ‘yaan’ named Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi) twenty times, but her launching has not been successful. Today for the twenty-first time, running away from Amethi, he has filed nomination from Raebareli,” Mr. Shah said.
