Ireland vs Pakistan | Only Test | Dublin | May 11-15, 2018 | Day 3 | Match Thread

Lucky wkt.
If Amir bowls like Abbas on the stumps, Ireland can be knocked over in 40-45 ovs

Amir will look good, but will have nothing significant to show for it in wickets column, enough with potential, deliver or make way for someone else.

Looks like Amir is not really interested in test cricket. Bowling rubbish as usual and may be end up no wicket in the match.

If Amir consistently bowls a attacking line but doesn't get wickets I can't complain. But if he bowls defensive and doesn't pick up wickets I won't be happy.

I dont understand why Amir continues to bowl wide of the crease.

So frustrating because hes bowling great, if he just moved closer to the stumps the wickets will start coming.

Hamaza/Sadaf>>>>>>>>> Amir.
Really disappointed with Amir. Had a high hope but performing miserably.

Hes bowling superb.
But yes WHY WHY he is not getting closer to the stumps?!?!?!!!!!!

Abbas getting wickets due to the pressure create by Amir. 2 wickets down now.

Abbas may not be the sexiest bowler we've produced but he has to be a must for the ENG series.

Understands the basics of test match bowling unlike all our other current pacers.

These Irish players have been playing country cricket for 4/5 years and they look clueless against this bowling. They have a long way to go as a test nation. Hope they get more tests. That's the only way they can improve as well implementing a domestic structure.

Now the fun has begun.

Anyone saying that Amir is bowling defensive/T20 lines right now knows nothing about cricket.

And as I say that Amir outsmarts the Porterfield by delivering outswingers for 2 overs and then a lovely indipper to smash the off stump.

We now have a lethal opening bowling attack. Abbas is a gem.

Yes in non subcontinental wicket its one of the best around. In subcontinental conditions, we need a supporting spinner with Yasir and I am hopping Shadab will be the man after this tour

This proving why test match is the ultimate...while in limited overs the Irish may be still in the game and go the distance, test match is a different kettle of fish altogether

:D

I knew the moment we batted it'd be a tremendous struggle, hence my slagging yesterday while I knew I could :P

Just hope we can make 100 and bat a few overs, cant really complain if im honest, bowling just far beyond our level.

Amir bowled 6 out-swingers to the batsman and then made this one come in a bit only making the batsman react to almost half a second late and lose his off peg

This was a very good set up!!

He needs more deliveries at the stumps. Dont mind it swinging away but the initial direction should be at the stumps. His lines have been bit wider but more than that its his length which has been short. If he can target that off stump, with his ability he can be absolutely lethal

Amir is considered extraordinary because atleast 2-3 of those outswingers were wicket-taking but now they seem part of the set-up.

You just can't not love Amir's bowling.

Some of the posters here spoke far too soon about Amir, judge him by the end of the innings. Lets not jump to conclusions after every over. Abbas may have taken 2 out of the 3 wickets but Amir has bowled beautifully.

No need of getting your heads in the clouds again. This match means nothing, real test is against England and a 2-0 thrashing awaits us I fear.

If you cannot beat Ireland on their Test debut, you might as well give up on the format altogether. I don't see why people have their champagnes out. This is nothing a but warmup match.

Its a carbon copy of the last time we played tbh.

Pakistan get a total they probably shouldnt have, posters here complain constantly about Amir, Amir bowls absolutely sensationally, top order and middle order obliterated and we're all out for 78 lol

You're probably right but warm up or not its an official Test therefore is more meaningful. Course Pakistan should thrash us,, our batting is barely county Division 2 standard if im honest, but they still have to perform and tbh the bowling so far has been outstanding.

Shame Joyce got a rough call though

Might as well cherish this.

Been ages since we got wickets in the first 10 overs.

Your pessimism is understandable but it is not warm up match. It is international match and you have to be dominant which looks like.

The only thing that matters is that Ireland are playing Test cricket. It is a moment that needs to be celebrated and cherished, and not because Pakistan are going to win in a convincing fashion. This result or this match should not matter to Pakistan at all, but it is a privilege to be part of Ireland's first Test match.

A one-off Test win vs Ireland has no significance when you will be slaughtered by England in a couple of weeks.

Challo shukar hai kuck bite, swing tu Nazar ayahi Amir key bowling may, keep pitching it up ☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼

How can you be so sure? If batting could make scores around 350 and the bowling clicks Pakistan will be a tough nut to crack. Abbas looks promising. Amir will blow hot and cold though.

Remember, follow-on is 150 gap now and Sarfu will enforce that, if he has the chance. It's Ireland on their 1st Game, I know but 5-3 tells the opening new ball bowling lot. I think, that declaration was a master stroke - that allows Amir a 10+ overs spells with new ball in two go. As the senior most bowler, he is probably bowling with wind behind, but would love to see him bowling against a cross breeze and swinging it further late.

Every team that tours England can play 1/2 tests against Ireland as well

PAK actually is playing against time, not Ireland - I think, result was never in doubt for a 450 overs Test.

You are digging own hole here for the Pom tour unnecessarily :) Couple of years back it started same and then you had to come back with late summer, Jimmy's injury, Ben Sobers's absence ..... Poms are very good at home - crashed IND, SAF & AUS comfortably in last series, therefore 2-0 isn't unexpected for a PAK side probably least experienced tour party in UK since 1954.

Anyway, what should PAK do here - play according to match IRL, as it's a practice game and people should taunt bowlers that they made IRL 5-3 and might fail to take 3 wickets in a day in ENG?
