New Zealand [273/8] beat India [251] to win 2nd ODI by 22 runs; Win series 2-0 [One match to go]

Whatever happens don't want jadeja scoring runs and that making his place stable for another 1-2 years even if he doesn't perform in bowling. Agreed, he bowled ok in this match but he is not the guy who can be match winning spell bowler and he is definitely not a match winning batsman either. India should retain him for test matches alone.

Our overall performance has been terrible, mate. Tells how important Rohit & Dhawan's contribution is to this mediocre lineup. The less I talk about Thakurs, Bumrahs and Kuldeeps, the better it is. NZ fought back like a champion team after the T20 humiliation and they deserve all the praise.
When was the last time Rohit and Dhawan survived when ball moved like this? I would bet a million dollar that both of then would have been in the pavilion within 50 runs, had they be batting today.

Jadhav is done and dusted. Could not rotate strike, wanted to get that release shot. NZ strangulated him and he succumbed. How long jadhav (Deadwood dhoni school) plays is a question. Iyer playing ok so far. But he may run out of partners.

This ground & pitch is definitely a 225-230 range one. Indian bowlers have given 40-45 runs more.

The race is on to see his Southee can finish his 10 overs before he ***** his pants. Not looking well out there.

India in trouble!!

I rated shreyas when not many Indian fans here did. He should have been a regular for 18 months at least before going into the WC

They are not playing against Boult and Ferguson here. It's just a bunch of newbie bowlers and oldie Southee! I'm sure Rohit and Dhawan wouldn't have gone cheaply against these bowlers.

It was his innings in that wc semi which earned him his place back in this team.

Jadeja is required for bowling not for batting - he is not consistent in ODIs in both. Whatever anyone may think, I stand by my opinion.

The calmness that Iyer is showing is good to see, whatever the result attitude/fighting spirit is also important. And he is doing good there, playing the waiting game.

Credit where its due, that was a gutsy spell by Southee who looked very unwell out there.

Required rate closing on 7 now. Kiwis should look to get in some tight overs and push to 8 - 9

well done n.z so far. Like I said before, no thakur, no jhadav and definitely no kuldeep in odi. for tests yes kuldeep is fine.

Unless Indian batsman (Iyer)/tail-enders play their best, NZ might win this.
Terrific comeback to win the series.
And poor/inconsistent bowling effort by India, again.
Although most of the times, the batsmen do the job for India.

Iyer was playing so well, what a terrible way to get out.

Iyer threw it away. What was the need for that shot when you got 145 runs more to chase? These morons urgh!

NZ 273/8 (50.0)
IND 131/6 (28.0) CRR: 4.68 REQ: 6.5
India need 143 runs

And now every indian fan is happy to see Thakur walk in rather than a pure fast bowler/tailender.
Lucky India to have such depth in their batting line up.

not really. jhadav and thakur should never be playing for india. Everyone knows that. They are only in the team due to nepotism and some ** Quota system.

Anyway new zeland played better so far and they thoroughly deserve to be where they are.

Mayank and Shaw are still new so it's understandable to see them find the conditions a bit challenging.

This Neesham was talking big about game spirit when India lost and asking Indian fans to give the tickets to someone else if they don't want to turn up for WC final. Now he throws the ball back at thakur and doesn't even apologize or even raise hands. Just because thakur hit him for a boundary in his over ? Just goes to show everyone will preach morals if things are going in their favor.

Why would he appologize when the batsman is a mile down the track?

This is not over for India at all. NZ have a lot of overs to bowl with their batting allrounders.

Shardul a bowler who can bat and jadhav a batsman who can bowl.
Age old bits and pieces love of cricket teams

A batsman is supposed to score runs. And the bowler/fielder will attempt to get him out by bowling him out or hitting the stumps. The bowler missed hitting the stumps and it is a common practice that bowlers do that -raising hands/apologizing if they miss. No problem if doesn't apologize but Neesham should stop preaching morals about game spirit and all is what I am pointing. That is all.

India to lose by 80-90 runs at least. Kohli , we want binny Jr., Varun Aaron and any IPL stars out there wanting a NZ all-expenses paid trip.

He softly flicked the ball back at the stumps and it hit the batsman on the thigh pad who hardly noticed it. I dont think that negates what he says off the field at all. I garuntee you ask of the Indian players they would have no issue with it at all as they are not soccer players.

Nice to see pitches in New Zealand with a bit of movement. Flat roads were killing the game.

India dearly missing rohit dhawan

Aren't Pant and Agarwal the golden boys of Indian cricket?

Either way one of them will most likely be opening with Rohit in 2023.

Its definately swung more under lights in this game. NZ probably should of got 300+ with the conditions they had.

Rahul will. Pant will keep gloves and bat at 5.

NZ are such a sharp ground fielding side probably the best when everybody is fit but they cannot hit the stumps at all.

Fielding is on and off the last year or so.

But yeah, man we never get direct hits.

Sorry meant Shaw and Agarwal.

They will be backup options. If one of them do very well then that bloke can take that slot in a longer run. Anyways, what Kohli and team management are trying to do and end up doing only they know.

There was a reason he lost his place in the loi teams along with ashwin. One game where kuldeep and chahal got taken apart against england in a small ground and kohli lost faith in them and brought him back. Guy has never been the force in white ball cricket that he is in test matches.

Even Saini is spending time at the crease and hitting sixes, but but but the next Sehwag wants to slap every ball to the boundary and gifts his wicket.

Yes, jadeja is a test match specialist. And I agree with that.

Saini connects with 1 in 10. Credit to him for still being out there and showing intent. He's shown more than jadeja who's playing a dhoni innings.

Still a chance wouldn't rule India out. Certaintly knowing as New Zealand are the worlds biggest chokers.

Finally go straight and his stumps are knocked over.

Really bad bowling from us.

Crazy innings by Saini. He played and missed so much then all of a sudden started finding the middle.

I watched Jamieson clean up India A tail in a very close situation the other day might need to do that again.
