Kamal Akmal made such a promising start to his test career, and so his massive and rapid decline has been a huge disappointment. I honestly thought we had discovered the new Gilly a couple of years ago. His glove work was outstanding, and he made big runs when they really counted.

Only Azhar Mehmood has been a bigger anti-climax (the only player ever to be in the top 10 bowling and batting simultaneously in world rankings) after his fine start in 1997.

Great stuff from these two. It seems they are giving the saffies a lesson in how to bat on this pitch. Good run rate, both openers going at a decent strike rate. Certainly beats the tuk tuk, leave leave rubbish the petrified saffies were coming out with!
