[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Chinaman: The legend of Kuldeep Yadav

People are writing him off too soon. He is obviously going through a tough phase.

This is not uncommon for bowlers. They have a couple of great years and then hit a trough. The value of a cricketer, whether he or she makes it big is dependant on how they manage their tough times. If Kuldeep is able to get his mojo back, he will become one of the most important members of Team India.

Kuldeep doubts his skills ever since that horrendous IPL season. He is turning into a mental midget who looks clueless once batsmen decide to dish him some phainta.

He looks lost these days, I really hope he will overcome this rough patch, too good a bowler to fade away like just like that.

Gambhir, Akram had big influence on me at KKR: Kuldeep

Indian sinner Kuldeep Yadav spoke about the influence that Gautam Gambhir and Wasim Akram had on him in his early days at the Kolkata Knight Riders. Kuldeep said that Gambhir, who captained KKR to two titles in 2012 and 2014, gave him confidence by assuring him of a place in the team while Akram prepared him on the mental aspects of the game.

Kuldeep says that Gambhir continues to talk to him even after the end of the latter’s stint at KKR and his playing career itself.

“Gauti bhai had a huge influence on me from the start of my stint at KKR,” Kuldeep told the franchise’s official website www.kkr.in. “He always spoke to me a lot. Not only during the time he was at KKR, but even after that, over these last two years.

“He always kept me motivated. Before the 2014 CLT20, he gave me a lot of confidence by telling me ‘You’ll play every game, just keep putting in the kind of effort you have shown.’ When you get that kind of confidence from your captain, it becomes a huge plus point for any player. It helps you remain confident, and that translates into good performances.”

Kuldeep said that he used to talk to Akram, a former Pakistan captain and one of the most successful fast bowlers of all time, during games in the dug-out and pick his brain.

“Wasim sir used to like me a lot too. He didn’t speak much about bowling, but he prepared me a lot in terms of mentally taking on the game. He prepared me to take on different situations in different ways, and taught me how to react when batsmen put you under pressure,” said Kuldeep.

“When he was at KKR, I used to sit with him and pick his brain a lot. I used to sit next to him in the dugout during matches and ask questions about real-time situations. I used to ask him what he would have done in certain situations, and he would test me by asking me what my approach would have been.

“So apart from Gauti bhai, he was someone who had a big influence on me during those early years. He also has a very good sense of humour, so it was great having him around.”

Kuldeep started his Indian Premier League career at Mumbai Indians in 2012 but it was after he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 that he started rising up the ranks in domestic cricket, culminating in his international debut in a Test match against Australia in 2017.

His decline and mental midgetness cost India the 2019 world cup.

Kuldeep and Chahal were supposed to win it for India

Respect. Punjabi players always appreciative of Pakistani cricketers

As a chinaman bowler, Kuldeep Yadav belongs to a rare breed of spinners. His shock value was evident as he grabbed four quick wickets on Test debut to help India seal the 2017 home series against Australia. He then teamed up with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, as the Indian team management banked on wrist spin as the wicket-taking option for the 2019 World Cup.

Yadav though faced some tough moments at the World Cup, especially when the England batsmen attacked and unsettled him. He was no longer an unfamiliar entity and batsmen used aggression to counter him. It was time the 25-year-old reinvented himself.

Confined to his house due to the national lockdown, without access to proper training facilities, Yadav is still using the “meagre resources” at his disposal to work on his skills.

“I can’t possibly have the luxury of a nets session. But with a bit of innovation, I’m trying to enhance my skills so that when the cricket season begins, I am sharp with my deliveries,” says Yadav from his home in Jajmau, a Kanpur suburb on the banks of the Ganga.

For nearly two months, he has spent around two hours daily on his terrace bowling at a white double bed-sheet hung over a clothesline. From about 20 feet, he bowls at the ‘wickets’ (marked on the sheet with black marker). He tries a clutch of variations—for left-handers and right-handers—and even celebrates a ‘wicket’ every few deliveries to stay motivated.

“It’s hard to improve you technique and bowl in the right spots and direction without a target. It’s very difficult to get the same hand-eye coordination when the batsman is not in front of you… you have to visualise a lot,” he says.

“If you are not in regular touch with your art, you will lose confidence. Polishing skills routinely keeps you in good rhythm. A chinaman bowler requires a different kind of ability as you have to imagine a lot many things before you bowl. Practice is the only thing which helps me stay focused,” says Yadav, who has 167 international wickets across formats.

The Ganga adds a new level of difficulty. “When the breeze comes from the river, the sheet sways and I imagine the batsman is shifting position at the crease and bowl accordingly, using a variation here and there. It forces me to concentrate harder... Since childhood, this has been part of my routine.”

On people likening the skills of a chinaman bowler to that of leg-spinners—their stock delivery leaves the right-hander—Yadav says his bowling is a lot different.

“It requires a lot of hard work to polish your skills as one hardly gets to see the batsman in full… The chinaman bowler’s head is down while delivering the ball so he visualises things differently—keeping the head still while delivering makes a big difference.

“There has to be good eye-head-body co-ordination. If your body balance isn’t right, your head moves in the other direction. If the head tilts to the right, you will end up bowling a wide. It’s all about coordination; I work hard on this aspect of my bowling, says Yadav.

“I consider it (left-arm wrist spin) more dangerous because of the sharp turn you generate for a right-hander or away (drift) from the left-hander. There are chinaman bowlers the world over and I believe this skill can be honed if you start practicing it from an early age.”

Yadav, who was asked to switch from pace to wrist spin by his coach Kapil Pandey at an early age, says he is confident of doing well for India. “Apne aap par vishwas sabse jyada hona chaiye (More than anything else, one must have belief in his skills). I have a lot of faith in my skills and work hard to stay motivated and energised. All the drills to sharpen your skills need to be executed routinely... if you wish to become a leg-spinner of Shane Warne’s repute you have to work on your skills sincerely.”

Yadav watches the bowling footage of Warne. “Watching Warne in action always gives you a different idea, to think about your delivery before bowling it. His skills are amazing, a big learning process for spinners.”

Son of a brick-kiln dealer, he is glad his coach is always at hand despite the lockdown. “Too much cricket gives you little time to focus on your basics. I am blessed my coach is always available as we live in the same locality.

“I am currently focusing more on the grip of the ball. He has been helping correct my basics as I hardly had time for such long discussions with Pandey sir while playing for India. In some ways, this lockdown has helped spend time with family and close ones and enjoy home-cooked food. Now I am desperate to get back to action as keeping away from outdoor practice is difficult.”

He focuses on weight training and yoga. He likes to keep rotating his arm while watching cricket on TV. “I don’t know how it happens, may be involuntarily.”

Yadav is against using substances other than saliva and sweat to shine the ball when play resumes post-Covid. Australia’s kookaburra company has developed a wax applicator to shine the ball.

“It won’t be good for the game, it would be ball-tampering,” he says. “Seamers will get maximum benefits. With the use of wax or cream, the ball would start reversing within 5-10 overs, and that isn’t good for the game.”

Yadav is in constant touch with skipper Virat Kohli, his limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma and wrist-spin partner Yuzvendra Chahal. “I always get good advice from Virat bhai. He told me to stay home and take care of my family members.”

NEW DELHI: Indian chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav is enjoying quality family time these days. From watching television series to spending time with his parents, India’s star spinner is making full use of his home stay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But with live sports slowly beginning to limp back to some form of normalcy, cricket fans are eagerly waiting for cricket to start again, even if it's a new look sport with multiple restrictions.
Kuldeep believes it will take at least 15 to 20 days for a player to get into the groove when they are finally allowed to hit the field again.

"I really feel that it will take another 15 to 20 days to get into proper shape when we hit the field for training. We will need to check every aspect (of the game) when we hit the ground. Every part of the body should be in great shape. That’s why it will take at least 20 days to get into rhythm,” Kuldeep told TimesofIndia.com in an exclusive interview.

“I also feel that franchises will start a 15- or 20-day camp ahead of the IPL. This will help players prepare perfectly for the IPL,” the Indian spinner said.

Kuldeep has been at home for almost three months and he is now desperate to get back to the cricket field. He has been watching his own old bowling videos and wicket-taking spells to motivate himself.

"When I look around, I say to myself - you are in a safe position. As an athlete, you miss going out, but that's how the situation is, so I am spending time with my family and doing proper exercise to remain fit. Initially, it was like a good break but now we are getting bored. It’s a mixed feeling,” he said.

"I'm just working on my basics right now. It is very tough for an athlete to motivate himself or herself at home. They need to go out. I am watching my old bowling videos to motivate myself. I am at home, having good food, resting, sleeping on time and spending a lot of time with my family. That's motivating for me. But I am bored now as I can’t go out, train and show my bowling skills,” Kuldeep, who has played 6 Tests, 60 ODIs and 21 T20Is for India so far, told TimesofIndia.com.

The 25-year-old Kuldeep would have wrapped up another season of the IPL, representing the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) if the IPL had commenced from March 29. However, the cash-rich league had to be postponed till further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is talk of the 2020 edition of the IPL possibly being staged in the October-November window, if the ICC T20 World Cup is indeed scrapped this year and postponed to a future date. Kuldeep feels if a domestic T20 tournament like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is organised some time before the IPL, it will help players prepare to a great extent.

“I personally feel we can also play domestic T20s. We can organise the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before the IPL and play that tournament. That’s a two-week tournament and it will help players get into the groove. Then we can go and play IPL. IPL is a big tournament and it will be a very good platform for all players after the pandemic,” Kuldeep said.

The 25-year-old Kuldeep, who made his ODI debut in 2017 against the West Indies in Port of Spain under the leadership of Virat Kohli, is the only Indian who has claimed a hat-trick twice in his ODI career. Chetan Sharma, Kapil Dev and Mohammed Shami have one hat-trick each to their names.
Overall, Sri Lankan veteran Lasith Malinga is on the top of the pile with three hat-tricks in ODI cricket. Apart from Kuldeep, Wasim Akram (Pakistan), Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan), Trent Boult (New Zealand) and Chamina Vaas (Sri Lanka) have two ODI hat-tricks under their belt.

“It feels great when I see my name on that list. All of them are great players on that list. It’s not easy to claim a hat-trick. You plan a hat-trick. It needs a lot of planning and execution. Such achievements give you extra motivation to play ODI cricket. It feels amazing to be part of such an elite group which already has legends like Wasim bhai, Saqlain bhai, Lasith Malinga, Trent Boult. These all are great players," Kuldeep signed off.

Too slow through the air, lacks control, not enough heart, but he is just 25.

What’s happened to Kuldeep Yadav? Should he be give another run?

I can remember when Kuldeep made his debut he looked so good and threatening especially in LO. He formed a good partnership with Chahal. But these days he hardly plays.

I think India should look at restoring his confidence and giving him a chance. Chahal seems to be inconsistent right now.

In ODIs, Kuldeep.
In T20s, Varun Chakraborty or Rahul Chahar.

Chahal should give up cricket and focus on dancing skills and take Shreyas also with him for the same although Shreyas can hang in for ODIs.

I think he is out of good books of management, I think it will be very difficult for him to come back into reckoning.

I think Chahal is okay for T20s but Kuldeep should be given a chance in T20s. He has 39 wickets in 21 games at an average of 13. Not sure why India have completely disregarded him in T20s. I agree he should play ODIs as well.

Perfect, we can try Kuldeep in tests as well.

I will have to retype all I wrote as the thread was added to this one. Anyways, here we go:-

Actually in ODIs, Chahal was dropped after two ODIs in Australia because he was awful in that series. Kuldeep took over him in final ODI and he should be preferably starting next ODI onwards.

In T20s, Kuldeep is not even in the scheme of things for India currently. The problem for him is that he wasn't getting picked by his own franchise in the first XI. Varun Chakraborty had overshadowed him last year and will most likely continue this IPL too. Kuldeep can only make a comeback in T20s if he proves himself through IPL as that is the format for T20s.

Oh right I forgot Kuldeep played those games in Australia. He should definitely play the ODIs against England.

Chakarvarty was picked over Kuldeep for a majority of the IPL last year. I hope KK play them both this year. Chakarvaty definitely would have gotten a chance if he didn’t have fitness issues.

Should have released Kuldeep if they weren't going to play him

Other teams would happily take him

So you are arguing with me in the other thread that he needs time out of the game when you were arguing that he should play just few days ago?

Poor guy seems to be under lot of pressure - you can see it in his face. It also looks like VK is not a big fan of KY atm - desperately needs wickets to regain his confidence and form .. hopefully he will come good in the final one dayer

Well I didn't think he would perform this badly. Now I have seen his performance and body language, he needs some time away from the spotlight.

Usually when you mock India and their players , it comes back to bite you. So I would calm down with your banghra.

Kuldeep needs to play matches. As a spinner you need to have match practice. He has been traveling with the team for nearly 6 months and hardly any matches. His lack of match practice is hurting him.

I didn't like his body language. England seem to know how to handle him. Some time away would not do any harm.

That's the thing with 'mystery' bowlers.Once batsmen get used to them, they have nowhere to go.Happened to Mendis and even Narine

I still remember when he bowled Babar with that beauty, I thought he was the real deal. However, with Kuldeep's performances in recent times as well Babar's ability against left arm spinners being exposed more often, I've started seeing Kuldeep in a much different light.

Chahal is a more dangerous, wicket-taking spinner.

He is struggling for confidence as he isnt sure about the pace to bowl, if he bowls slowly they play him off the back foot and if bowls quicker, he loses his sharp spin. And with big bats and powerful batsman, the guy has been taken to the cleaners.

Everybody can read him like a book now. He picked up a bunch of wickets when there was a mystery. It's like Mendis. He's probably done because there's always a sixer ball in every over.

Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav underwent a knee surgery on Wednesday for an injury that he sustained during the ongoing IPL in the UAE. Kuldeep posted the update on his official Twitter page. "Surgery was a success and the road to recovery has just begun. Thank you so much to everyone for your amazing support. The focus is now to complete my rehab well and be back on the pitch doing what I love as soon as possible," tweeted the 26-year-old. On September 27, PTI had reported that Kuldeep sustained a serious knee injury and was likely to miss most of the upcoming domestic season, having already come back to India with his IPL campaign cut short.

The out-of-favour India international, who was with Kolkata Knight Riders, is expected to go through a long rehabilitation process before attempting a comeback to competitive cricket.

"Yes, we got the information that Kuldeep sustained a nasty knee injury during a practice session in UAE. Apparently while fielding, he twisted his knee and it was really bad at that point," a senior BCCI official had revealed.

"There was no chance that he could have taken any further part and was sent back to India."

The Kanpur-based cricketer has played seven Tests, 65 ODIs and 23 T20Is for a total of 174 wickets across formats.

He last played for India in Sri Lanka but it was more of a middling performance with best figures of 2/48 in an ODI game and 2/30 in a T20 International.

He played two more games during that tour -- an ODI and a T20I -- in which he went wicket-less.

Kuldeep Yadav bowled Aiden Markram with a delivery that turned miles in the first ODI between India and South Africa in Lucknow on Thursday.

Kuldeep's delivery to bowl Babar Azam at the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 had garnered a lot of attention. The left-arm wrist spinner turned one sharply back into the Pakistan batter and disturbed the stumps, leaving fans spellbound.

“It drifted and turned so any spinner would love that delivery. It was a proper delivery, a Test delivery, deceiving the batsman in the air and forcing him to make a mistake – a perfect delivery. I think it was one of the best balls of the tournament for me," Kuldeep said at the time.

Three years since, in the first Super League ODI between India and South Africa in Lucknow, Kuldeep recreated the 'perfect delivery', cleaning Markram up with one that turned back into the batter significantly.

Markram, who was yet to get off the mark, was on the front foot to defend, like Azam, but the ball sneaked past his bat to hit the stumps.

South Africa were put in to bat in the first ODI after showers delayed the start of the game. Reduced to a 40-overs-per-side match, the South Africa openers put on 49 for the first wicket before Shardul Thakur dismissed Janneman Malan and Temba Bavuma in successive overs.

Poor guy was a decent bowler but moeen ali ended his career. His only highlight in his cricketing career will be getting Babar out two times. India should play him in the next 50 over World Cup he might come good but for now he’s only in their india A plans.

Great to see him regain his mojo. He is easily the best white ball spinner in Asia after Rashid.

He can literally bamboozle batsman even if they defend unlike a lot of spinners who get wickets only when batsmen try to attack. But his problem was dew and flat tracks

Kuldeep was poorly managed by KKR. Its one of the worst run franchisee. Its good that he switched to a new team and has not got back his form.

He is a 3 format player.

Watched him live today was fantastic.

Got some real curve on the ball.

Great to see chinamen in action especially Kuldeep my favourite spinner in the world.

He just needs to bowl a bit quicker with the white bowl like Rashid does to get purchase from the wicket.

What great deliveries Kuldeep bowled today!

Would have in my XI anyday over that good for nothing Youtuber!

It was a dream comeback for Kuldeep Yadav as he registered the best Test figures by an Indian spinner in Bangladesh. The left-arm wrist spinner achieved the feat on Day 3 in the first Test in Chattogram. Kuldeep returned with figures of 5 for 40 to help India bowl Bangladesh out for a paltry 150 and take a massive 254-run lead. Batting first, the visitors had posted 404. Kuldeep also registered his Test highest score with a gritty 40-run knock on Day 2 to help his side cross the 400-run mark.

Playing in his first Test match in 22 months - he last featured in a Test for India back in February 2021 - Kuldeep claimed his third five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket. He had earlier taken five wickets in an innings in Australia and against West Indies in India. This was also Kuldeep's career-best figures.

Kuldeep went past the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble to register the best figures by an India spinner in Bangladesh. Previously the record stood with Ashwin, who had taken 5 for 87 in Fatullah in 2015. Kumble's best figures of 4/55 in Bangladesh came at this venue back in 2004.

Before Kuldeep, only two Indian spinners had five-wicket hauls in Test cricket - Ashwin and Sunil Joshi.

The overall best figures by an Indian in Bangladesh belongs to Zaheer Khan, who claimed 7/87 in Mirpur in 2007.

Starting the day at 133 for 8, Ebadot Hossain's (17) 37-ball vigil ended as a faint tickle down the leg-side was smartly snapped by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (25 off 82 balls) defended doggedly before becoming Axar Patel's only victim of the innings. A poor show from the top order let Bangladesh down.

A lot of credit should also go to Mohammed Siraj (3/20) for his sharp spells on the second day. Kuldeep then came in and ran through the Bangladesh middle and lower order by picking the wickets of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Nurul Hasan and Taijul Hasan on Thursday.

Kuldeep Yadav Surpasses Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble To Achieve Big Test Record For India

Kuldeep Yadav played a key role in giving Team India the commanding position in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The Indian spinner, who made his comeback to Test cricket after a hiatus of 22 months, registered his career-best figures of 5/40 in the match. Kuldeep took four wickets on Day 2 and another wicket on the third day as Bangladesh were bundled out at just a total of 150 runs. Apart from starring with the ball, Kuldeep also contributed 40 runs with the bat and helped Team India cross the 400-run mark in the first innings.

With this performance, Kuldeep has surpassed the likes of all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin (5/87) and former India spinner Anil Kumble (4/55), to register the best figures by any Indian spinner in Bangladesh. This was Kuldeep's third five-wicket haul in Test cricket, having done so against Australia and West Indies before.

Coming to the match, Shubman Gill scored his maiden Test century while Cheteshwar Pujara finally ended a four-year wait for his 19th hundred as India set Bangladesh a stiff victory target of 513 runs on the third day of the series-opener, in Chattogram on Friday.

For the second day in succession, Bangladesh were completely outplayed as Kuldeep Yadav's career-best 5 for 40 helped India dismiss the hosts for a paltry 150 in just 55.5 overs.

With nearly three days at their disposal and a lead of 254, India captain KL Rahul decided against enforcing the follow-on as Gill (110) and Pujara (102 not out) took full advantage of a toothless Bangaldesh attack that also missed its lead pacer Ebadot Hossain due to a back injury.

The moment Pujara exorcised the ghosts of the last four years with the completion of his fastest Test hundred, skipper Rahul declared the Indian second innings closed at 258 for 2.

At stumps, Bangladesh were 42 for no loss on a track where a lot of balls are indeed keeping low but the pitch hasn't shown considerable wear and tear. The hosts still require 471 runs to win the match.

And he is dropped.

This is just sinister.

I hope Rahul Dravid never ever comes near Indian cricket again. For the country's sake he needs to be sacked.

I thought if someone has delivered performance in last game, he merits a place.

This suggests that Kishan might also get dropped inspite of a 200 last game.

Getting back in form just before the World Cup. The Chinaman is back.

Some of his spells this series have been a privilege to watch. Other spinners may take wickets but no better sight than when Kuldeep hits his stride.

Kuldeep has taken his 4th FIFER in Tests now. Brilliant spell it is.

Least balls taken to 50 Test wickets (India):
1871 - Kuldeep Yadav
2205 - Axar Patel
2520 - Jasprit Bumrah

He's also shown he's not a complete bunny with bat. Would be interesting to see if he gets a place in the XI when India play in SENA countries.

Kuldeep among the list of elites

Best bowling strike rates in Tests (min. 50 wickets)
34.1 - George Lohmann (ENG)
36.8 - Kuldeep Yadav (IND)
37.7 - John Ferris (AUS/ENG)
38.7 - Shane Bond (NZ)
38.8 - Duanne Olivier (SA)
39.2 - Kagiso Rabada (SA)

Crying shame that this guy has only a dozen of test matches under his belt despite debuting 7 years back and is about to be 30.

Plenty of time to make a career yet. He is much improved bowler now. Stronger, faster, cleverer.

Plus he lost his spark for handful of years inbetween.

Kuldeep Yadav opened up on his love affair with the Dharamsala stadium after picking up a 5-wicket haul against England, while speaking to the media after day 1 of the 5th Test between India and England:

"Thank you so much. I mean, it's lovely to be back here. You know, I made my Test debut here, so I know the conditions very well. I played one Ranji game as well, so no, nothing much. You know, the wicket is good here to bat on and just trying to spin the ball most. And just the wind. I was actually using the drift. I think that's very important when the wicket is flat."

"I'm enjoying my game. I mean, that's a very important thing. I put in a lot of hard work from 2020, after the surgery, and it's just the reward I'm getting now. I have been very consistent with my length and just working, working on a face as well. You know, that's very important, especially when you play a test match in India. And, yeah, that's what I am doing now and just enjoying bowling."

I think India have finally found a spinner who can be lethal in overseas conditions too with bowl. This allows us to go back to 3 pacers + 2 spinner policy given that Jadeja is about as good as other specialist batsman and his bowling is good enough for 5th bowler role.

The Shardul experiment was good for a short period but it is exposed now. Time for India to use Kuldeep at that spot and if conditions are extremely pace dependent then only go back to 4 pacers + Jadeja policy.

Rohit Sharma praises Kuldeep, stating after winning the 5-test match series against England:

"We know he (Kuldeep) has a lot of potential, can be a match-winner. He has something about him. Since his knee injury, he has come back, and he is putting a lot on the ball now. Most pleasing was his batting."

Hopefully that puts a stop on Axar Patels selection as no.3 spinner.

I think India have finally found a spinner who can be lethal in overseas conditions too with bowl. This allows us to go back to 3 pacers + 2 spinner policy given that Jadeja is about as good as other specialist batsman and his bowling is good enough for 5th bowler role.

Jadeja is not a batsman in overseas conditions.

Kuldeep era starts in test cricket. We'll do just fine after the eventual exit of Ashwin.

Indeed. He is not much of a bowler either in overseas conditions.
@WengerOut

I thinks it's frog in the boiling water syndrome for our team management .They will never risk a new candidate like venky iyer in place of jadeja, thakur .Even chahal ,dhawan stayed for ever and everyone was able to see it.Bishnoi /washi was not tried in t20s even though we need overhaul . Rohit and Dravid combo is one of the worst play safe mentality brands.

Jadeja as a package is 100 percent a starter in SENA countries.

May not be as penetrative with ball as he is in India but he's not profligate, holds one end up as a relief bowler, presents a different challenge to batsmen and more often than not he does pick up wickets.

Outstanding fielder both in the circle and out. Takes catches others won't even consider possible and always presents a run out threat. Just ask Steve Smith.

A solid batsman at 7 who has averaged 40 plus in SENAW countries in last 5 years.

I mean, how out of touch and illiterate does one have to be to not want Jadeja in the XI?

The revival of Kuldeep Yadav has been nice to see. A genuine contender for the Purple Cap, even if Delhi Capitals don't make the playoffs. He has it on a string. Kuldeep has taken two crucial wickets (4 overs, 2 wickets for 21 runs) for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, against Punjab Kings."

In the recently concluded IPL 2024, Kuldeep Yadav picked up 16 wickets in 11 innings.

He has a SR of 12.5 in T20Is – best for a bowler with 50+ wickets in the format.

Kuldeep Yadav to bamboozle Pakistan batsmen again today, specially Babar who is clueless against his type of bowlers

India has stuck with the same team, leaving Kuldeep Yadav out.

Will this decision cost India?
