Matthew Breetzke became the first batter to score 150 runs on men’s ODI debut in the tri-series match against New Zealand in Lahore.
One of the four debutants for South Africa in their first match of the tri-nation series, Breetzke was excellent in crafting a beautiful innings that helped South Africa post a competitive total.
The 26-year-old opened the batting with skipper Temba Bavuma and made a rather cautious start as he assessed the conditions, scoring his first boundary off an imperious drive.
He brought up his half-century off 68 balls and stitched a fine partnership with Jason Smith (41), rotating the strike and ensuring that the scoreboard kept ticking.
The young opener brought up his ton with a fine boundary behind point and soon accelerated after the landmark. He was eventually dismissed for 150 but not before becoming the first batter to score 150 runs on men’s ODI debut, going past Desmond Haynes' record of 148, which was set in 1978.
Breetzke’s 148-ball knock consisted of 11 fours and five sixes.
Before this match i was certain Pakistan was going to beat C team sa. Now I'm not so sure.
Man what a humiliation if Pakistan doesn't play their own tri series final .
But I'm glad captain clueless is finally being exposed. I called it in the first odi.
Great bowling captain when things are going according to plan. Instantly goes blank as soon as the opposition shows a little bit of Jhgra.
Also his selection choices are rubbish. First time he has control over selecting a squad( don't think Major is lying since he loves rizzu) and this is the rubbish squad and playing 11 he selects?
