[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Saim Ayub - the real deal or a flash in the pan?

Another failure for him. Should have done better job. These cute 20-30s are not gonna help

Started the inning for Pakistan as a bowler and now he has 2 wickets to his name. Brilliant start.

He can mould himself into the next hafeez has the elegance about him like hafeez did

I think he will improve with time , only need to improve his shot selection at the start of his innings and concentrate more after getting his fifty , he can equally play pace and spin well which is a good sign , however he is not good against moving ball and as an opener this is a must have trait. hopefully with time he will learn about his off stump awareness.

He is a guy who needs luck in his favor to score big currently.
as I see he is improving day by day in both the aspects.Needs to keep working hard and be down to earth.Hopefully he does justice to his talent and become a potential atg.

Saim Ayub earned the souvenir for his player of the series performance. And also a check of 1000 US$

Lol at comparing Saim with Hafeez. Saim is already a better bowler than that guy unless he was chucking and his potential is much higher with the bat

This kid is the Next Big Thing in PAK cricket. Believe the Hype

Bro no, Hafeez is a much better bowler in any era lol.

As a batsmen you can argue saim > Hafeez mainly because hafeez was a very ordinary batter throughout his career and only had a bit of a resurgence at the back end of his career at no 4, while saim despite failing alot has shown signs that he's special.

His 53 ball 100 is just a small sign of things to come + his 80 smacking hazlewood, Starc, Cummins, Zampa etc.

However as a bowler hafeez is >>>>>>>>>> Saim. No contest.

The rubbish of Hafeez should not be mentioned here.

Hafeez with his stuck feet was an ugly sight particularly in Test cricket

I don't want get into this debate about Hafeez. But that guy was a serial chucker and one of the worst offenders when it came to that. Saim bowls with a super clean action. Got to take that into account.

He wasn't chucking in 2017 bro, he was cleared.

Let me remind you our cupboard is very bare. We need to back this kid and give him a lot of time.

He is already looking more confortable on the crease with more patience. Test cricket has helped. He needs to deliver in a big game or a SENA tour now.

Saim Ayub has been named in the T20I squad for the upcoming 3-match T20I series against Zimbabwe following his brilliant form in the ODI series.

Saim Ayub moved up 12 spots to move 78th on the list for ODI batters and 39 places to 119th for T20I batters.

Good Zimbabwe and Australia series doing good for him.

Shoaib Malik, during a press conference ahead of the PCB's Champions T20 Cup, spoke about Saim Ayub:

"From my point of view, Saim Ayub, regardless of his failures in the past, when it comes to T20 cricket, he is never out of the team, never."

"Saim Ayub is such an explosive batter that, in my opinion, he should be part of the team in all three formats. He covers all aspects, and he is a talent that has come after a long time, so we should not waste him."

"There will be some failures, because all attacking batters face more failures compared to those who play conventional cricket."

"For Pakistan, it doesn't matter who the opening batter is, but in my opinion, Saim Ayub should definitely be in the team."

Shahid Afridi speaking during an interview:

“Saim Ayub is a player who can perform very well for Pakistan in all three formats. Saim Ayub is talented, but the key point is how disciplined you are off the field. Off-field discipline, fitness, your diet while playing cricket, and your social media activity are very important. If he thinks social media will help him play cricket, it's not possible. Your performance must speak for your cricket. To play, you need to bring some discipline to your life. As I mentioned about Saim Ayub, it's the same for Abbas Afridi. Khushdil Shah is a player who, in my opinion, is needed at number five or six, similar to Abdul Razzaq, as an all-rounder for the Pakistan team. Aamer Jamal is a player who can fill Abdul Razzaq's shoes with some hard work and off-field discipline.”

Surely he should be opening. Riz should drop to 3
Rizwan at 3 avg 32 with a strike rate of 118 which is even worse then his opening position and you want him to represent a no which is Cricket's most historic batting position? Aka the no where your best batter bats?

Plain and simple aqib needs to put his foot down and tell rizwan to leave.

If I was rizzu I'd do the same thing i did against aus in which I'd remove myself at once to save face and humiliation that will ensue.

Great South Africa T20I Series continue for Saim as he smashed his first half century of the tour for the team green. Scored 55* off 34 deliveries so far.

Very unfortunate he didn't get his century but let's hope Pakistan can go on to win from here as it would be a travesty if both Saim and Pakistan miss out.........

Consistency is key.

If he wants to be a big player he needs to perform consistently instead of partying after one fifty like some Pakistani talents in the past.

Seems like a smart guy so I hope he understands this.

And that is exactly what happened both saim and pak missed out

Mohammad Rizwan in post match ceremony:

"Saim Ayub is an incredibly talented player and I’m confident he’ll play innings like that again soon. He’s the player we've been looking for – a power hitter who has done well in domestic cricket and is now excelling at the international level. I hope he continues to perform like this."

You know a young Gilchrist was told you have got 4/6 games to score otherwise bye bye. This is why Aus have 50 icc trophies in there cabinet & Pak are still polishing the 92 World Cup.
I asked you this question before

Can you provide proof that a young Gilly was told he has 4-6 games to prove himself or bye bye?

Shame he couldn't get a ton. But he's clearly the best young batting talent in the country by far.

I asked you this question before

Even if Gilly was told that so? How many gilly's have been in world cricket? Australia jas always remained top 1-3 cricketing nations since it's inception, to this day they are always top 3 alongside eng, aus and India?

And even aus hasn't found a single keeper good enough ti replace him.

Gilchrist, Pointing, Travis, Warner, Brooks etc etc are generational outliers. That doesn't mean someone like Jason roy, Alex hales, Ben duckett, Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh etc etc are bad players.

Infact I'd give uo my left kidney if I had the chance to have a keeper like inglis or Carey in the pakistan side

Saim Ayub in a post match press conference:

Q: How did you approach the opportunity to open?

"At one point, I felt we could reach 220 or 230 because I knew that if I stayed till the end we could put South Africa under pressure. Unfortunately the middle order couldn’t carry the game further and I had to adjust my approach in the middle overs. Still it was a good total and we believed we could defend it but credit to South Africa though, especially Reeza Hendricks who batted exceptionally well."

Q: Irfan couldn't get you on strike, was it a missed opportunity to score a hundred?

"Opportunities to score a hundred will come again; this wasn’t the last one. The most important thing is contributing to the team. If the team doesn’t win, a century doesn’t matter but if the team wins even 80 or 90 runs hold great value. At that moment my focus was entirely on getting more runs for the team. If a century is in my destiny it will happen eventually."

Q: You started your innings slowly and then tried to target any specific bowler?

"We discuss strategies before the match but during the game you have to analyze the conditions and the bowlers’ tactics and plan accordingly. It’s not about targeting any specific bowler; I always try to play to my strengths while assessing the situation."

Q: What have you learned from players like Babar and Rizwan?

"What I admire most about them is their incredible game sense especially in T20 cricket where you experience many ups and downs. They know how to adapt to different situations and always guide me on how to read the game and strategize accordingly."

Q: Your approach to tomorrow’s game?

"It’s all about focusing on the present. This match is behind us now. Whether we had won or lost, the focus remains on preparing for and performing in the next game."

I just wished Pakistan has rested Babar & Rizwan in the T20s against NZ C at home.

Now Saim’s fans forever have this excuse that Babar & Rizwan are not letting Saim flourish.
Thankfully, Aqib Javid took your suggestion on-board, 👍🏼

Nice to see Saim proving his doubters wrong. Probably the most talented player we've seen emerge in quite sometime and he looks fantastic. He's showing he can be all format player and play at a modern level.

This is why it's important to stay patient with young talent. It takes time to adjust to international cricket especially for a player who only had 1 season of domestics before making the national team. Sucks he didn't get his century but I am sure he will get plenty of them in his career.

Another lie. When did I cheer for them when I am calling for them to be dropped? There is a lie from you everyday.
I don't know know what your argument is with me? I'm critic of rizbar and you try to defend rizbar then you claim you want rizbar to be dropped.

What have I said to defend them in t20s? I wouldn't be questioning anyone's mental stability considering you think tayyab tahir is as good as butler lol. Just go back a couple of pages and see what you said about saim.

I think you should go to page one and read from there onwards and then come back

That is why saim needs to open. Free-flowing player.

Babar needs to open with saim in the next game and rizx should just rest on the bench.

Saim should have got that century, he deserved it.

Glad PCB actually backed him and provided chances talent was always there with this guy, hope he can continue to have a success he is a great talent.

Spinners doing the job for Pakistan, Saim now joins the party as he helped to dismiss the South African skipper Aiden Markram.

Saim Ayub still looking disappointed even after scoring a fifty. I think he knows his runs won't be enough to help his team win this game against South Africa.

What a knock played by Saim Ayub.. a magnificent century by him ultimately changed the course of the game.

I’m glad that he is failing as an opener, otherwise folks who don’t understand cricket would tell us that he is being played out of position.

Saim Ayub has zero excuses for not performing. He has been given a very long rope for zero results. If he doesn’t get a hundred in this series he needs to be dropped for at least a year and he won’t have anyone to blame but himself.

How hard is it to score on a pitch where your 28 averaging captain scored 150+ at a high SR.
160 IQ

What a player! Saim Ayub has been phenomenal, nearly scoring three centuries in his last 10 ODI and T20I matches. When he’s at the crease, his flawless technique and ability to play shots all around the ground make him look like a million dollar player, showcasing a level of brilliance that feels out of this world!!

More like the captain looks better with Saim saving his tashreef most of the time
Learn to give credit where it's due. He was struggling before Rizwan became captain.

Saim is obviously a very good player but Kaptaana has helped him play to potential

By dropping him to no 3 so he can open with Babar and rizzu?

Saim's achievements are his own.

This is not a pointing and Clarke situation lol 🤣🤣🤣. Or an Imran and wasim situation.

Pakistani players dont know how to mentor anyone in this era.

Malik, sarfi and hafeez were probably thr last and they never achieved pointing level coaching or imran Khan level coaching.

hafeez just gave tidbits here and their like telling fakhar to develop that slog sweeps against spin, Malik was mostly a friendship coach and Sarfi was a good team coordinator and gave roles but the players were responsible for their own success.

You have to be extremely sad to give credit to Rizwan for Saim’s development.

-This is the same Rizwan who batted Saim at 3 knowing the form he was in for the first T20i against SA so he and Babar can open

-This is the same Rizwan who didn’t fight or ask the management to pick Saim for the T20is against Australia, knowing it opens up the spot for him to open regardless.

-This is the same Rizwan who went on air to cry about Saim being inducted into the T20i team against NZ and opening the innings, saying it has broken up the nation’s favourite jodi of Babar and Rizwan.

There are also reports by Journalists in the know that claimed Rizwan also during a team meeting during the NZ series smirked or made a sarcastic remark when Rizwan was being praised for whatever reason.

Rizwan deserves 0 credit for Saim. He deserves 100% credit for doing things that have destroyed the growth of Pakistan cricket.

Ya, even for rizwan fans this is getting ridiculous. Probably the weakest narrative that's being launched that Rizwan mentored saim ayub 🤣🤣.
