four greatest number 3 batsmen in test cricket in the last 20 years
how would you rate them in order?
ponting:
168 matches, 13,378 runs, 51.85 average, 41 hundreds
sangakkara:
134 matches, 12,400 runs, 57.4 average, 38 hundreds
dravid:
164 matches, 13,288 runs, 52.31 average, 36 hundreds
amla:
107 matches, 8,281 runs, 49 average, 26 hundreds
---------------------
ponting and dravid are neck and neck. not much to seperate between the two
sangakkara looks well ahead of the rest when it comes to average
amla is behind others by some distance but he has also played a lot less matches although the average has now fallen below 50 and if he retires with his average in the 40s he will not go down as a great batsman
however he still has time to bring that up to 50 again unless he goes kolpak
