He's debuted quite late in his career, but he looks much better than others.

His role will be pivotal in the WTC in my opinion, especially when we're touring countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

I like him for test cricket (For the next test cycle as you mentioned). At the moment he has one of the best options surely for test cricket for overseas tours as main spinner and secondary spinner in spin friendly conditions. A handy lower order batsman as well who can contribute some important runs.

Abid is a liability, get him off the team and away from the catching positions.

Meyers won a test against Bangladesh by playing an improbable innings of double century in the 4th innings. Pakistan should feel nervous as Abid dropped his catch. The game is yet to be over
 
Why is Abid fielding at short leg? I didn't know reflexes get sharper with age.

Babar is a tool for fielding him there.

Don't take it the wrong way but big difference in the bowling of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
 
This is Pakistan. They let WI win the first test after taking the match in their grip. They dropped catches. And again at this crucial stage they are dropping again.
 
Abid Ali has to be dropped. Can’t bat can’t field. Surely there’s someone better than him to open the innings in all of Pakistan?

Also Nauman and Faheem is a bad bowling combination, someone more attacking from the other side will be able to utilise the pressure Nauman creates with his right accurate bowling

Babar has to read these kinds of things quickly

I know and agree. I just tried to say that he is a capable player of playing a long innings. If Holder and him can support each other they can still draw this test.

Fakhar Zaman will struggle in conditions where the ball moves.

This is the right time to bring in someone who can bat in all conditions, not just a few conditions like Abid and the others.

Either Abdullah Shafique, Usman Salahuddin, or Imam-ul-Haq should get the nod.

Imam looks mentally tough. Should be given the long rope like Babar was. He won’t learn by not playing.

Is he playing FC ?

I am a very good outfielder but terrible in close catching positions. I will drop everything.

My captain knows not to put me in slip or forward short leg or silly mid on.

Babar is an international captain. Surely he must know Abid’s areas?

Babars obsession with Faheem is strange siince he hardly bowls a wicket taking ball. I understands pacers need rest but Abbas has not bowled much.

Abid has been fielding at this position for number of series now
 
Shaheen with the big breakthrough!

Nice to see the bowlers adjusting and going wide of crease which troubled Pakistani batsmen quite a bit.

Abid scored a double couple of months back which had booked his place for at least 7-8 tests
 
It is not raining at the moment I think but, maybe they are worrying that it will at some point
 
I really don't get this obsession that I've seen in Pak cricket for years - why is it like a rule that the player with low/least experience will always field at short leg / silly point? It makes no sense!
 
They dont even have enough covers. Groundsmen brought on a small white sheet from somewhere to cover the run up area.
 
The test may end in a draw, courtesy poor west Indian ground stuffs working post rain

This used to be the case with India too for the longest time. It is because of the seniority based culture. Seniors pick and choose and new or uncertain players are forced to field in hard positions

Yep, they are gonna use slow tactics again like they did early on in day 3. Dropped catches for Abid are gonna haunt him if play doesn't resume.

No chance. Abid and Imran will open in next test.
 
Just looking at highlights of wickets falling, does somebody want to remind me why Yasir was picked over Nauman in the first test?
 
Those 2 dropped catches will be the decider in this test. The way it's raining the way west indies cricket board groundstuff deals , it is going to be a draw.
 
Strange that whether is showing as mostly sunny for Kingston. Shouldn’t be more than a passing shower. Anyone on ground to let us know how much rain there is?

Noman is way better than Yasir at this moment. Yasir was picked for his experience and match and series winning performance in the previous west indies tour
 
D/L rule should come into play in test matches too. This game should be awarded to Pakistan as they played brilliantly and are deserving winners. West Indies must not be allowed to escape with a draw.

Hassan Ali is good bowler with the older ball.
Shaheen is world class with the new ball and is good he's getting wickets with the short ball !
