Wahab can reverse. I'll take that + his aggression over Rahat any day. At least in test matches.

Reversing the old ball in UAE conditions is not difficult when you can ball 90 mph at will and bowl a fuller length.

Some guys were saying this is not ripping through the team, I don't know what is then? [emoji33][emoji33][emoji33]

I like that Yasir is helping cleaning the tail. This could be handy in actual match as well, since he is accurate and bowl at good pace, even in these conditions tail unders can't play him [emoji8][emoji8][emoji8]

I didn't see Rahat manage it. Also, we already have Amir and Sohail who can swing; we need a bowler like IK or Wahab to add some variation to the attack. Rahat is just a very mediocre version of Amir.

Anyway, I'd like to see them both perform in next game to gauge better.

Hafeez hoping for quickfire twenty to calm the doubters. Didn't work out

The signs are good for Amir.

The signs are terrible for Hafeez already.

Gone again

Davey to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT

Yeah, this was bad ploy in these conditions with new ball... Guy like Warner is hardly successful with this approach, No chance for Hafeez.

Some doubt about the dismissal. But then couldn't happen to a more deserving candidate

Hafeez minus his bowling is the biggest liability in this team. I am already worried about our opening against good quality swing bowling

I am happy with overall work out for the team, but yes there is cause to worry considering shan, yk, hafeez all gave chances.

Does anyone know if new DRS rules will be applicable to PAK Vs ENG series?

I think they are just attacking.

I know it's the flattest track, but pitch doesn't matter when there is such a gulf between the two sides.

If Pakistan is 7/10 as a team, Somerset is 3/10.

There is a reason why they finished 6th out of 9 teams in County last season.

It's a rubbish 4-day team in all three facets.

On a more lively wicket, Pakistan will probably beat them in one day.

I don't see how this is good practice for a series against the best Test team at the moment.
This is completely normal. You are adapting to alien conditions and start at a lower level and step up gradually. It's no help getting beaten by international standard opposition while you're adapting.

This is classic Hafeez Vs Styen, this time without any swing or pace [emoji84][emoji84][emoji84][emoji84]

The straight ball is his enemy.

Want Azhar to play well here. He is our most important batsman on this tour along with Younis.

Lady commentator is saying that Rahat has bowled really well in places
I'd rather have Wahab rather than Rahat in the team.

But we all know that Rahat Ali is one of those bowlers who needs overs in his legs and who gets better the more he has been bowling recently.

He bowled five overs of moderate stuff today, but finished with four really good overs.

I don't know why [MENTION=131701]Mamoon[/MENTION] is being so dramatic. This is going very well.

The underlying problem is whether you can afford to carry Hafeez and Misbah in Tests outside Asia. When you stick with an old-fashioned Non-Playing Gentleman Captain like Misbah can you really afford a Serial Failure Outside Asia Opener like Hafeez too?

He is clearly already mentally gone before the Tests even start.

He knows that he can't defend against pace, so is trying to smash quick runs.

Time to replace him with Babar Azam.

The straight ball is his enemy.

His technique is fundamentally flawed when playing or leaving those deliveries and he never worked on fixing the problem...Come to think about it, that's most important thing for an opener...[emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

It doesn't matter.

It's the eternal Hafeez wicket outside Asia: front foot paralysed, back foot moving across, fencing outside off-stump.

With a technique like that you deserve to be dismissed legit or otherwise

How the hell was he playing that?? Even I know how to play that delivery  couldn't agree more with @mamoo we should've gotten a better team to practise with!!

Batsman was No. 10; but it was actually a good ball - it had a shade of away swing, but cut back after pitching. If he can do that pitching just about 6 inches left, he'll trouble lots of top orders. In fact, I think batsman was a bit unlucky - if this is not given LBW, on review, this ball would at best touch the leg stick.

Hafeez and Misbah also play on key positions. They play very well in UAE where pace is never a threat, this is where guys like Babar and Harris would have made huge difference...

For Asian teams you cannot win overseas unless you really focus on winning those series. Planning has to happen long time ago, these 10 tests are wasted on those two old guys... This also hurt future development... Pakistan get those tours not more than twice a decade, wasting them on old players is absolutely irresponsible management [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

Which is exactly what is not happening here.

We are playing two matches at a very low level, before facing off against England in 10 days time.

This is not what I would call stepping up gradually.

May be a bit surprise element won't hurt PAK much - the less Poms see Yasir, the better. He can play, but he can practice solo as well - just in case, he gets injured; PAK'll be limited to a darter who has never played in England.

Sohail is going to trouble English players for sure. Ideally, PAK should look to bring Yasir after 35 overs, that 40 minutes after lunch on Day 1 if they bowl first. The work load for the 3 pacers should be Aamir 14 (6+ 3+ 5 after lunch), Sohail 12 (8+4 after lunch) & 3rd seemer 9 in 2/3 short spells before lunch. In that regard, Rahat or Wahab are better choice as both are capable of short bursts. Rahat bowls lots of rubbish, because he still thinks himself to be a out & out fast bowler rather than fast medium swing bowler - couple of feet up the length, he can be more lethal than even Aamir, but he'll always go at 3.5+ rate.

I think Sohail may be used in short burst as he put lot of effort. I am not seeing wahab in lineup

Except remember that your bowlers will be fine, and your batsmen bat against them in he nets every day.

All your batsmen apart from Hafeez and Misbah have performed okay.

Rahat is an out and out lulloo.. The English probably play better bowlers than him on a weekend BBQ..

Net practice isn't the same match practice, of which there is no substitute.

Not even in your dreams :)))

Let's see. I think he will score 300 runs, with 1 hundred and 1 50, not great but OK.

Lords second inning s and Oval is flat, so hoping fortune favours the brave and he is more offensive on the other wickets and gets fluent 30 40s beofre nicking off

this somerset batting lime-up is pretty good tho, and it's a pretty flat pitch

May be, I see few things different in bowling than line length. It's not easy to get 20 wickets, bowling length-line, unless your batsmen come with a Afridi psyche.

Your favorite guy cannot face these third tier bowlers... You have to go through high school first before entering college[emoji47][emoji47][emoji47]
