My decision to turn down to tickets to this game being vindicated. This could be all over in 50 overs.

If I was there now I'd be thoroughly annoyed watching Rashid coming out to bat when it should have been Moeen Ali.

20-6. Everyone is just flashing outside off stump.

This is just some fishy stuff imo. What a joke.

NZ: No one is going to top our batting effort last night.

England: hold my beer.

You'd have been annoyed that an injured player wasn't playing...?

I'd be annoyed that England didn't pick they first eleven..
Look if I pay £60 per ticket I'd expect to see the best eleven, unless they are actually injured.

Woakes has the same thigh injury that kept him out last game, Moeen has a groin injury and Stokes has his recurring knee issue.

Something in the conditions for the bowlers in an ODI for once and some of these modern day batsmen collapse in a heap when they can't simply swing through the line of the ball.

Nice to see a match where the bowlers actually dominate for a change.

Credit to the SA seamers for hitting the right lengths.

If they do, or they don't.. does it matter?
I'm saying that I'd be a little peeved to be at the ground right now.

Lol just checked the scorecard, what the hell is going on?

Reminds me of those Gillette Cup/Natwest Trophy 50 over finals in the 90s at Lord's when teams batting first would often get bowled out cheaply after a morning start when conditions are conducive for swing/seam.

Of course, we experienced this first hand in the 1999 WC final.

6 wickets down for 20 runs in the 4th over is what happens when you play a lineup full of hacks. They have no anchor. Everyone goes all guns blazing. Eoin Morgan is the closest guy they've got to someone who can set the tone and anchor the innings but he's a hack himself. A very, very good hack, but a hack nonetheless.

That is why Pak need a batsman like Haris in the top order who is comfortable playing moving ball.
What happened in last CT final. ;)

England should've been rolled over for under 50 but Saffers luck not with them after their initial charge.

LOL I turn this on expecting a lengthy exciting game and we are already 7 down.

Oh well. A good series win anyway.

Superb innings from Bairstow. Arguably the best all-round batsman in England right now, can adapt to any situation and format.

Yeah Joe Root is a massive hack isn't he

Goes to show once and for all, England are nothing without the Brummies carrying them.

I'd take the English strategy of 300+ in 9 games out of 10 with the odd failure rather than the Pakistani strategy of limping their way to 230-250 in every match.

Good win for S.A. Bowlers utilized conditions well, and batsman also got some practice.

KAGISO RABADA and Wayne Parnell cut a swathe through the England top order, taking 6/20 between them in the first five overs, as the Proteas coasted to a seven-wicket victory in the final match of their ODI Series at Lord’s on Monday.

It came too late to effect the outcome of the series which England won 2-1 but the visitors made an important statement ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy tournament with their opening match against Sri Lanka at The Oval on Saturday.

The other teams in their Pool are India and Pakistan.

Rabada, on his first international visit to Lord’s, had figures of 4/39 while Parnell took 3/43, the other three wickets falling to Keshav Maharaj.

What will have pleased the Proteas the most was their improved fielding with Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis – his first one was a special effort – taking two catches each in the slips at the height of the new ball onslaught on a surface that provided assistance to the seamers throughout the match.

Parnell also swung the ball effectively and his two wickets up front of Joe Root and Eoin Morgan were particularly important ones.

The recalled Jonny Bairstow stabilised the England innings with 51 before he walked down the pitch to Maharaj and was stumped by Quinton de Kock by a distance.

England’s total of 153 in 31.1 overs – the match in total only last 60 overs – was well short of par and that became evident when De Kock and Hashim Amla sharing an opening stand of 95 – easily the highest of the match. In the process Amla completed 7 000 ODI runs when he reached 23 and once again was easily the fastest to his latest landmark.

AB de Villiers, who completed the series by winning all three tosses, also achieved a landmark of 100 ODI captaincies and he and JP Duminy completed the facile victory.

Rain threatened throughout the day and the weather must be a concern for all the Champions Trophy participants. It is a very short tournament and no side will be able to afford a washout. Australia’s warm-up match against Pakistan only lasted a handful of overs and South Africa A again were only able to bat half an innings in their second warm-up match against Derbyshire.

Few things never changes - South Africa & their brutal efficiency in soft matches.

Umm, came back last time after being 2 - 0 down to win the series 2 - 3. Might have happened here were it a longer series.

The constant miss characterisation of South African cricket is getting tiresome. If it's so **** to watch us play, please stop.

If there's one thing SA have learned, it's not to take the match into the last over :afridi

South Africa win the dead rubber:misbah. Good practice for there bowlers and a morale boosting win.

England batting was exposed in bowling friendly conditions.

Bairstow surely has to find a way into this team.

South Africa, king of soft wins. England win the series so it doesn't matter. :smith

I love it when the English get cocky. It means a major upset is on its way. Just like before EVERY cricket, rugby and soccer WC. How'd that go last time? Out in the group stages of all three tournaments?

Please comeback when South Africa actually win the tournament without choking. In all seriousness though, I was only joking around, I don't see why you are getting so offended.

That was my immediate thought when I saw their team in disarray

I think you're bit harsh on them. I think they played very well in this series or what we say, these warm up games. think they won all the toss and yet they chose their weakest are, ie chasing. and despite conceding 300+ couple of times they got brilliant starts in those matches. yeah they choked but they're improving. and when pitch/weather supports bowlers slightly their bowlers too comes to the party.

Negatives: their fielding is not up to the mark. and their middle order is untested ie yet to see what happens if their top 3 batsman failed miserably. though that'll be a very rare occurrence!

I hope to see it in my lifetime.

I'm getting offended because it seems that everyone comes in here insulting South Africa no matter the outcome of actual match or series.

Had we won the series it would be "Lol, they'll choke in the tournament. This series means nothing". You can probably search for all the variations of this insulting manner towards my country over and over again. The posters generally had no comment before that in the thread. They just come in here, insult South Africa, no matter the outcome of the match or series, and leave.

That's simply not fair and frankly getting out of hand. I seem to remember many more South African posters here, where are they now (I'm not sure if TahirFan is, he seems like one)? Who can blame them though.

Then when I give you a bit of flack, you ask me why I get offended? Mate...
