^ What makes you think Jadeja can take on the new ball? India will reconsider Gambhir if Dhawan is not able to raise his game.
We have only one left hander in our line-up , to give vijay support & to confuse bowlers line n length, we need Sir....

Sir has scored two Triple tons in FC .... His innings is what mattered in the end CT final against england .

Even many people like you questioned Sehwag when he was slotted to opening by ganguly...

I think Jaddu will flick away all the Steyns in-wing to left hander ....

Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 4s 6s Ct St
Tests 4 5 0 271 187 54.20 284 95.42 1 0 47 2 1 0

He is just 4 Tests Old, still averages 54.20 with 95.42 strike rate :)

He has failed but not constantly failed.

Lets give him 2 more overseas tours (he deserves). I think NZ will be relatively easier for him to get practiced playing overseas....

High SR and Avg. are due to his first test innings, then he failed in next 2 tours.

Yes, He should be given some more series to see how he goes.

Actuallay I was mistaken, I was thinking he had played 10-12 tests.

Bouncy pitch with even Phildobbler getting no-balled on height.

Ishant Garner is the key to India's chances here.

Steyn bowling on the pads.... seems like he is irritated with these batsmen leaving those outside off stump deliveries :D

Steyn looking off colour in this series which is perfectly understandable considering his extraordinary standards. Philly and Morkel though have stepped up well.

Meanwhile, Lord Pujara averages 69. :don

What total do you think SA will be happy restricting India to if possible? 350, 360?

Saffas getting mildly battered at the moment, all the momentum is with India.

Biffo needs to don his thinking cap.

Wat a electricity gone
MSEB hell
Why after six month electricity gone

Del Steyn has found it hard after feasting upon Pakistani batsmen. All came too easy then.

Agreed.

What's going on with Steyn? In distinctly unthreatening form. But of course he can and does come back suddenly.

up against some high quality batsman suddenly after being served the Mohd Hfeez's for the last year or so. India could be in for a decade of domination with this batting even the so called weak links like Vijay looks better opener barring Cook, Smith and Warner.

Why not... If sehwag can do wonders as opener , after being slot in by ganguly... Then why not a two Triple centurien in FC

Sehwag was exceptional and even his record overseas wasn't the greatest. Need to give someone with solid temperament the opener's slot. Rahane showed some good temperament. Maybe he should be tried. If Jadeja consistently scores in the lower order, that is good enough for us.

Its impossible for SA to bowl dry because of how bad their spinners are

Just realized this is the ground where srilanka won a test match not too long ago. India will fancy their chances

I'm loving this aggressive approach from Pujara. Clearly not just a Dravid clone. Can step up the scoring at will.

I am not concerned with how many India score here. My concern is, can they get those twenty wickets?

SA need a little bit of zip on the ball. If you know what I mean...

lol :sachin

Anyone else noticed that since they got caught ball tampering their bowlers have been noticeably less threatening?
In both ODIs and Tests.

Maybe it's just me.

Pitch is hard and dry. Already some reverse swing as commies have noticed. Zaheer and Shami could come handy for India.

What a terrible terrible pitch.

CSA should have done a better job planning for this and giving strict instructions from the curator.

Look at in India, Dhoni is never shy of demanding pitches that turn from day 1.

The pitch is utter crap, seems like Delhi

How is this a terrible pitch? This is exactly like the pitch for the Ashes match going on today

That is exactly what I was thinking. No conspiracy theorycrafting but it is quite interesting

It's basically one of those misleading narratives that looks to find a way to avoid giving credit to India.

Usually wickets cannot be "demanded" in places other than India, they can be requested but the curators don't work for the national cricket board, they work for the ground trust. That's how it works in Australia anyway.

Ironically, the person dissing the Delhi track seems to have forgotten that Delhi was banned once for being too dangerous to bat on. Could have atleast mentioned Ahmadabad or Rajkot.

Usual scrutiny which comes with India playing abroad. Unless the ball bounces chin high from good length, pitch is deemed flat.
Last match had pitch very much in favour of bowlers for first 3 days, and then it was good for batting for the last 2. I expect this pitch to behave in exact opposite manner.

This is the match where bowlers need to stand up like batsmen did in the last match. There is a reason it's called "Test Cricket".

Judging by how India are going, SA batsmen can only do better... right? RIGHT?

What a shot! Loving Vijay's form, an old-school innings

Most of them follow cricket on cricinfo you cant really balme them not knowing difference beween Delhi and Ahemdabad.

This is a perfect picth for test cricket .There is some thing in it for everyone , pace bowlers , batsmen and even spinnersat the later stage

India need to bat big first up. An excellent platform being laid.

We are being shown how hopeless SA looks when they don't take wickets early
