What's new

South Africa v Pakistan | 3rd ODI | Centurion | 7th April 2021 | Pakistan innings

What kind of tactics are this, 3 fielder on the boundry thridman to cover, All fakhar need is one boundary n over and rotate strike.

Babar is the most precious batsmen to come out of pakistan in the last 20 years. Fakhar is a great player but will never match babars consistency

Good toss to lose as will set a big score and then have no pressure of chasing...

Not taking anything away from Pak batsman. They've been bashing all SA bowlers in series.

But this bowling attack of SA looking completely clueless.

Brilliant from Fakhar. Follows up one good performance with another.

What a player. Ramiz said correctly. He is clutch. Mr powerpoint Wasim must be looking like clown now not selecting Fakhar for T20

Another quality knock from Fakhar, he would be hoping his team wins this one. Back to back 100s, chance to get another big one here.

What is your views about last innings of Fakhar?

It showed how important it is to pace your innings well. He changed gears extremely well but his 65-70 SR in the first half of his innings and the partnership with Shadab, where he played at a SR of 44 for 10 overs, ultimately cost Pakistan the match because he was left with too much to do in the end.

That innings showed both the best and worst aspects of Fakhar - he is one of the best, if not the best in Pakistan at punishing boundary balls, but he is probably the worst in Pakistan when it comes to managing good deliveries.

When you don’t bowl him boundary balls he is helpless. That is why people should not get overly excited because we have seen what he is about.

Every now and then he will be produce fireworks and play a blinder, but he will regularly flatter fo deceive when the bowlers bowl smartly to him.

What's also helped is Fakhar not crouching as much as he was on the last tour of SAF. Hopefully this series is a turning point for him.

Thoughts on this batting lineup in general? Weakest you’ve ever seen?

How many times does Fakhar get out playing these silly scoops, paddles, reverse whatever you want to call it, stick to the straight bat wacking

Don't play shots that aren't natural to you ! Fakhar needs to put away the scoop, has tried it before and has never come off.

Anyway he's given us a great platform. Over to Babar, Rizwan and co.

Why try those funky shots when you can easily muscle it over the cow corner? Same problem with pant.

Fakhar looked too satisfied with two successive hundreds.
Almost lost interest

Good stage for Rizwan to come in - should compliment Babar with his busy playstyle.

Maharaj is a million times better than that overrated dramaybaaz Shamsi...

Maharaj arm balls are spinning more than Warne's legspin rippers apparently. Why in gods name is it difficult to play him

Should have sent in Fahim. Rizwan has been looking pretty scratchy in ODIs since his comeback. It's like he's unsure whether to strike, defend or knock the ball around.

Rizwan has done well in list A cricket in the middle order and his 2 100s came batting at 4. He is fine at 4 if he isn't going to open.

Most ODI runs in first 50 innings:

Hashim Amla - 2486
Fakhar Zaman - 2262
Shai Hope - 2247
Zaheer Abbas - 2234
Viv Richards - 2208

A settled Babar is still the best finisher in the current squad. Our visionary CS dumped our only (relatively) successful finisher in ODIs for Nawaz(his domestic team's player ie talk aout favourism)
