South Africa vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Durban | Jan 22, 2019 | Pakistan innings Thread

Du Plessis has placed his fielders impeccably considering the nature of the pitch. Excellent stuff.

Did say Oliver will get at least 2-3 wickets via the short ball

Never see a bowler absolutely dismantle us with one delivery

I guess one of hafeez/Malik will sit out next game for Shan Masood.

I have no idea where Malik will hide over the next ten overs.

Pakistan pull a surprise :)))

Sent in Shadab as captain in his 100th game still defies all and doesn't want to face the music!

Will Sarfaraz bat 6 down today, as surely Talat needs to bat above him

Fakhar is the most technically inept player we ever had. The CT innings is the biggest fluke in cricketing history. Such a poor technique

I hope he's ousted from the team forever

Wow the captain sending in Shadab. Talk about showing guts. The captain himself has decided to hide himself here.

Sarfaraz wants to play the finishing role to the innings I guess.

Solid move by management.
Shadab has the technique and temprament to handle short stuff

The only thing left to compound my viewing misery is Rameez coming back to com box

On the plus side, Sahadab is developing into the cricketer we always wanted... a nice allrounder. Hopefully he can score a 50 here and gain more confidence

He can win the match on his day (we have no such batsmen), that is why he is gonna be persisted with.

We have seen enough of Fakhar to have an accurate measure of who he is as a player - a hack who cannot cope when the opposition bowls to him with a plan, but he can be devastating when he is playing against minnows or when luck is on his side.

He is better for this mediocre batting line up.

That day comes once a year.., is it really worth it? We can have Shan instead who is technically much superior and can score big as seen in List A as well..

He can't bat on these slow wickets. That's it.

I don't think he is terrible but he's definitely not the hype that has been created. He's the kind of player who will succeed when the pitch is true, doesn't offer too much lateral movement and the pace is around 135-140. Any change in those variables and he's a dead duck. I think he will be decent in England where the pitches will suit his style of play. SA will always be Fakhar's worst nightmare especially if he doesn't develop a way to play the short balls.

I think Rizwan should play next game, and icc must allow Sarfraz to captain from the dugout

If Shadab and Malik and build a partnership and go at an okay run rate we can still get a decent score

He scored even in the ODI series against NZ in UAE. I wont be to harsh on him just bcz of this series, these are poor cricket wickets where you shouldn’t be judging your batsmen on especially when you know world cup in Eng.

This was a cowardly act. Why sent a tailender when the team needs stability. He should have stepped up instead of hiding behind shadab. His leadership is exposed here.

Tailender?? Shadab has an average of 32? If the captain is in bad form he was right in sending someone in who is in better nick to set a platform for him to come in later on and play freely.

I don’t think du plesis will bring on the spinner anytime soon

Even on true pitches, the stars need to align for him to score. His technique is abysmal and he takes too many risks.

I am not asking for him to be dropped because he is a necessity for a team like ours, but people should keep their low expectations. More often than not, he will fail against good bowling.
