Sri Lanka v India l 3rd Test l Colombo (PSS) | 08/08/08 to 12/08/08

harbajhan is looking very comfortable against murli and mendhis. it is becasue he himself is a spiiner, and bajji can red them when they deliver a ball.

The lead is now 119 for India. Laxman and Bhajji playing very well, they need to keep this up!

So will Ishant bat? Or is this the last pair now?

India need at least another 50 odd to give themselves a sniff...
I think they can give themselves a sniff no matter what. A lesson or two from :asif should suffice.

The fourth best Indian batsman has run himself out. Will the third best come out to bat now?

Zaheer run out, Laxman running out of partners and might as well hit out now.

So Sharma has come out to bat. It's interesting to note that this time he didn't have any difficulties in selecting a complete pair of gloves.

I'm confused, a lesson or two about bowling or about sniffing from :asif ?

If it's the latter then I think :asif is more versed at oral consumption as opposed to nasal.

Has this happened before? Both batsmen with their runners? It's a first for me.

I was banking on Asif improving on his "armoury" in this idle period. :)

122 to win.

Should be a walk in the park...
exactly.. I reckon an 8 wicket victory.. openers might not last till the end. Sanga and Jaya will take them to victory comfortably.

122 should be easy for Sri Lanka and India need to attack, attack and attack.

has NOT happened since 2003

Didnt last long though. Now I dont want to be too critical but why was Laxman not shielding the last two, or atleast the last man, is beyond me!

I'm going with a 7 wicket win. I think Zaheer might knock over a couple early on...

at least we may see the game stretching in to the 5th for the first time in the series..

You could consider the alternate view which would be that Bhaji (pretty much alone in the Indian team) does not give up without a fight. Unlike a few more highly rated players....

with Saurav as the new ball pair to Zaheer... good luck :)) :))

I think Ishant can bowl with the help of a runner. The runner runs in and at the delivery stride hands the ball over to Ishant who rolls his arms over.

On a serious not, Ganguly is an underrated bowler and he can sometimes get swing when specialists cannot. One of the Lankan openers is an archtypical passenger so first blood can be drawn here by India.

44 overs still to be bowled. Barring the possibility of a famous choke by Lanka, the match should end today. But of course it will depend on Bhajji etc and how much outside off stump they decide to bowl.

Dravid (poor form or not) has to be put in that category as well.

44?? then it should be over. I thought it just about 25. I mistaken that the break was tea break.

Just imagine if Sanga and Jaya go back in quick succession. The cat will really be among the pigeons then. :D

If Sanga and Jaya goes early, panic will break into the Sri Lankan dressing room, they rely on the top order to score most their most.

if sangakkara stays on then there isn't a worry, ( off topic what happened to malinga ??? i liked his STYLE (hairstyle too :P) ) but what happened to that guy?

Now I have been saying it all along in this test match and will say it again: How easy (or how difficult) this runchase will be, will depend on how positively the batsmen play. If they will give undue respect to bowlers, they will only make their task harder.

It shouldn't, but I agree that it will. Fourth innings of a test does something to players that it should not, but there you are.

Theres absolutely nothing in the pitch or the bowling. No need to get mental demons get the better of you at all!

I think Warnapura was runout if they had appealed (foot in the air).

Soft dismissal. They are getting the pressure get to them (for no reason at all). Match on!

SANGA GONE! That is a big wicket. Can India now get Jaya out early? Match on!

I think Srilanka will win it easily in the end. However I am not sure if losing here will not be a blessing in disguise for India. Because believe me, if India do win here, you will see the grandfathers playing for another decade.

India are not going to win, unless Lanka pull an epic choke.
Just not enough runs, 170 might have been interesting.
This has been a very interesting Test series, kudos to both sides (even the disgraceful cheating Indians)

Something is telling me that Bhajji is preparing to get banned again. Something is going to happen soon.

I am not watching the match but if I were Bhajji I would be having a go at the Indian batsmen rather than the Sri Lankans :)) ...

Sri Lanka 44-2 at tea. India need wickets tumbling after the over very badly. Its now or never for India.

*** ??? R u serious ?????????????????????????? :po:

They just showed the replay once and the stream was not very smooth. So I am not too sure but I think both of his feet were in the air (of course after comfortably making his ground). Highlights will be interesting.

Warnapura doing a Tendulkar now - padding everything away. Will soon lose his wicket.

Kumble has lost it now. Three men on the boundary, defending less than 60 runs.^o^

Game is slipping away from India, they need wickets to tumble after the over very badly! India has still a chance if the next 25 runs produces 5 wickets, with the main batsmen out.

He has been disappointing. 60 runs is nothing with 8 wickets in hand and furthermore, still a day left! He needs to attack, attack and attack, the game is already lost, might as well lose trying.

Yes, should go down fighting instead of taking half measures this late in the match.

Arun Lal creaming himself over Kumble's career wickets.

Why doesnt he talk about the number of wickets he has taken in this match? You know, the crucial series decider.

Is the best bowler in the game ever, Ishat, injured?

Yes, he has some problem with his right buttock.^o^
Didnt bowl in th last part of 1st innings and didnt take the field in the second.

The game is over, congrats to Sri Lanka. India have been very poor in this test match.

It will be interesting to see whether the selectors too decide to focus on past laurels or instead ask some uncomfortable questions!

Why do i get the feeling perhaps Dhoni made the wise choice by staying away from the test tour. I think Dhoni has been proven a winner.

Guys like Karthik, Patel turned out to be crap keepers in comparison to Dhoni. Kumble has been horrible in this series and has looked really out of sorts with the ball. The Indian batting yes did fail but then again Kumble should have done better as a bowler and his captaincy has been poor too.

Its only made Dhoni's case stronger for the test captaincy. With Dhoni in the test side as skipper, i am pretty certain the likes of Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, even Tendulkar will eventually be on their way out if there is any slip up in efforts.

These two should go ***medieval*** now. No way they will lose 8 wickets against this bowling. India making the pitch look lflat as you like.

As flat as Ishant's buttocks you mean?

I want to KILL Arun Lal !!

Poor guy. I wonder who it was who did him.

The guy who decided to do him must be the loneliest guy in the world.

And as we speak, Kumble proves that he still has no idea how the referral system works after six innings (0 out of 3 today).

:))) :))) Kumble sour grapes bowling a bouncer after being reverse swept for four.
