Two hours of poor batting undid three days of excellent work for Pakistan in the first Test in Galle, and they now have the onerous task of needing to win two back-to-back Tests to take the series, or win one and draw the other to ensure their record of not losing a series in Sri Lanka remains intact. (Cricinfo)

After that dramatic loss, I still bet on Pakistan to clinch this series. I hope they click as they did in T20 to make us proud again.

Almost four hours to go now.
 
strange day to start the test. this is almost Pakistan like who would have started it on Monday. SL is doing it on Sunday but one will expect atleast Saturday if not Friday (to let the match build up a bit for the weekend)
 
i want pakistan to bat first post 500 and from there on leave it to bowlers, but am talking about 500?

@ bold tey were way too professional in the first 3 days so they made up for it on the 4th lol
anywyas i hope we do well inshalllah victory will be ours

Why Asian boards don't start matches on Friday?

If they do they can get more viewership.

yaar yuu hhave to look at ashes as well, ashs 1st test last day tomorrow and 1st day of pak lanka test, so this way it may be better

Didn't you see enough of 500+ run pitches/innings a few months ago when Sri Lanka visited Pakistan?

Yesterday they were reporting Razzaq and Danish in for Malik & Rauf.
 
Call me crazy but I'd drop Gul.

He's always been awful in Lanka.

If we get a similar pitch Razzaq must play and either Gul or Rauf should be dropped.
 
There have been conflicting reports. Some say that Manzoor and Rauf will be dropped and Razzler and Fawad will play. Malik will open. Some reports are saying that Malik and Rauf will be dropped and Kaneria and Razzler will play.
 
Malik is not going to be dropped. Only Khurram will be dropped, its a seaming wicket watch out for Butts run of golden ducks in first over

He cant come in for a specialist bowler. He shouldnt.

I think people need to realize he isnt test material.
 
Pakistan decide to bat. Salman Butt has been left out, and Fawad Alam has been included.

i dont think we should give MYK so much credit for this move....everyone saw this coming, even Butt after the shot that he played....Had Butt been picked in this match, that might have been the end of MYK as well...
 
I am not sure why YK thinks Malik will do better than Butt in these conditions. We need to end this make-shift opening tradition if we are to become a consistent test side
 
So who would open? Could be any one of Fawad, Malik or Akmal! My guess is it would be Fawad.
 
MYK will not drop Malik anytime soon....

thats not happening.....this is pakistan cricket we are talking about where decision are made based on who you are rahter then what you have done....these guys have to find a place for Malik in the team....
 
well if Katich could do it for Australia then why not Malik!?
 
Honestly I think that Malik is much better than Butt, and I also think that this combination will fit in very nicely in this game.

And rightly so. He looked all at sea against Kulasekara and Thushara in the middle stages of the last test. What hope does his technique have of surviving opening the batting?

i agree....anyone will do better than malik....i dont think Mazoor is all that great either....he should be on the way out soon..

anyone from a street of pakistan will do better than Butt

my point is Katich was a middle order bat who was nothing special and was in woeful form during the 2005 Ashes ...Aussie fans wanted him out for good after that much like us with Malik... but when he came back into the team recently enough he did it by reestablishing himself as an opener and with great success. See my point?

Katich has a much better technique to face the new ball than Malik

i agree with what you are saying but there is a huge diff between Malik and Katich...just coz Katich did it, that doesnt mean Malik would too....i hope he prove me wrong tho...

if Malik was soo good, he would have been a reg opener for pak, didn't he score a 148 against Sl and save that match for pakistan? but i guess everyone knows his worth ..
 
Congratulations to Fawad for getting Pakistan test cap. I guess YK listen to Inzimam who said in his interview that Fawad has been with team for quite some time and needs to be tried out to see what he is made of.
 
and Its Fawad Alam opening for pakistna..

thats a better choice than Malik any day
 
Interesting that they are opening with Alam. He's got a solid chance here in this match to perhaps be our next opener.

so why didnt Inzi gave him a chance if he wanted Fawad in team?

MYK shouldn't be getting credit for this...

this was coming....there was no way Fawad was going be left out after what happen in last match
 
best of luck to whole PAKISTAN cricket team. May they make us proud once again (Ameen)
 
Ball is moving around, they should play carefully atleast for first hour
 
if you ask me this is the best chance Fawad can get to make his place into Pakistan team. if he score well he would get an ODI place automatically.

so i think its a very good move.
