In a dead rubber and with the series lost, suddenly Misbah and Malik come to life? Either it smacks of gross grouping, and now they want to cement their selection for the next series, or simply the fact that they just cannot play under pressure. Same goes for the ineffective keeper Akmal.

Either ways, Younus should inflate the level of his testetrones and boot them out of the team. What difference does this win make? SL is simply going through the motions. The series could and should have been won by Pak were it not for these three clowns.

But that will not change the scoreline...losing the series....and going down in ICC Test Ranking........Its very much clear after hearing from Younis our captain in recent interviews....he is not happy having them in the playing eleven.....he also knows that he is something deliberate for these batting collapses to happen...even Bangladesh has not shown such consistancy in the batting collapses.......

He NEVER said that, he said that if they do not perform then they have no right to stay in our playing 11, which is utterly correct. He never gave any hint that he didnt like them being in the eleven, these are two different things all together.

Or perhaps simply they were out of form.

Pakistan have collapsed to the 2nd (or 3rd) new ball a couple of times. There are 16 overs to go after tea. Malik and Misbah are playing quite well. Will we fall like a pack of cards again or can we grind it out this time?
Brother Pakistan has not last once in this series to facr the 3rd new ball.......

These two are showing great mental strength too - very disciplined performance I must say.

Haven't watched Pakistan play test cricket for a while but Malik in particular has been most impressive..

i enjoy getting updates of the match(particularly a test match) on PP rather watching it live or at cricinfo....

Even when are doing well?

and thats the job of the management to ensure those who they feel do not sufficiently contribute get dropped

as a supporter i just want us to win and that involves wishing all players do well

Exactly.

Losing 2-1 is better than 3-0 .It will make the difference in confidence for ODI''s .

The batsman that has been the worst in the series is YK himself
followed by Akmal. And Malik has had a few bad ones
but YK has thrown away his wicket 4 out of 6 innings but I don't get why you guys don't seen beyond Malik.
If you want to question someone commitment questions YK

Its actually the inefficiency of our so called interim chief selector (Bari sahab)...he selected a ridiculous side for the srilankan tour....he selected only two speciallist openers knowing we have a history of the opening problem.......he selected Alam for the middle order but he is playing as an opener.......the only selection he did right was of bowllers.....if we had solid middle order batsman and openers in the squad of 15 waiting on the bench then Misbah, Malik and our openers would have definately been on their toes....yr thoughts....

Full squad (official):
Younis Khan (capt), Imran Nazir, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal (wk), Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Aamer, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Akmal, Fawad Alam. Rao Iftikhar Anjum

***...no Wahab Riaz and Salman Butt :(

anyway, looks a very strong team...I dearly hope Umar Akmal gets a game

Pakistan looking to attack now, they should get the lead past 300 in the next ten overs, have been impressed with these two, the real test will be the new ball if they are still batting.

only bad selection is rao....what is he doing there.....

yk fails and m and m fans come on criticising him, mk and m fail and yk fans come out criticising him...m and m do well and fans come out criticising them..

its like a bleeding vicious cycle...

why cant people just put a little perspective on things...batsmen fail, they do well, its called cricket...if this was something that has been happening over two or three test series then fine..criticise them...but they havent played test cricket in over 12 months (apart from the recent curtailed home series)...

pakistan are doing ok at the moment so why not get behind them rather then coming out negative comments all the time...its getting rather boring and annoying now...can we not concentrate on the play for just a little while without throwing our toys out of the pram!

First time in long time I cant select a playing eleven from the toruing squad as am spoiled for choice. Only thing I an sure about is would go with Akmal and Nazir as opener

Misbah gone chasing a wide one which got some extra bounce

Why did Misbah play that shot? That was not needed. Nevertheless, fine fifty so far. Well Done!

Pakistan struggling to get runs in this session, and a wicket falls, story of the month.

Hope Akmal just tries to hang around for a few overs and get his eye in before the new ball is due.

Big wicket there. 8 overs or so before the new ball. 252/5

I hope we can get to 300 from here.

Will Akmal be inspired, or will he round off his pathetic run in this series with a lazy waft outside off stump. I dont agree with that odi squad only becuse sarfaraz ahmed is not there, therefore Akmal nows he has got another five games to prove his mettle.

sure but didnt akmal just have a blinder the 20/20 tourney? did he not keep brilliantly and score quick runs at the top of the order?

are you comparing kamran akmal's test form with his odi form?

It baffles me as to why Kamran has had a poor series. He is such a quality player in all forms of the game. He can bat on any wicket against any type of player.

Kamran averages 26 in odis.

kamran has batted as low as 7 in odi's...and i think has scored two centuries opening plus his recent odi (especially 20/20 format) form has been decent

4 overs to the dreaded new ball. As always either it'll bring a rash of wickets or a flow of runs.

Akmal with instructions to stay there until new ball arrives and then take most of the strike, I suppose

Kamran averages 26 as an opener in 39 innings.

Before his century in the dead rubber against the Aussies, he was averaging 15 in 2009.

actually he has scored 5 hundreds in odi's 4 of which when he has opened the batting...one scored in australia and one in the windies..
he has two centuries against england when opening too..and his last century was just in abhu dhabi against the aussies when batting at number 4.

i for one dont think he should be dropped...moreover i think he should be opening in every odi match that pakistan plays...

i may be mistaken but in 2009 has he not been averaging arnd 34/35 with the bat in odi's?

Malik and Akmal extending pakistans lead here and cementing their places in sqaud for a few more series!

Pak 213/5 - Pakistan should be able to defend anything over 280

& we know what it has been in this series. No reason why it should be any different this time................so SL could be chasing around 285 ! :D

ok..so i would give more chances to a guy who did well in recent 20/20 tourney which pakistan incidently won and someone who has thew ability to score hundreds when opening the batting..also someone who scored a hundred in his last or second last odi innings for pakistan..

i assume you want him to be dropped or not in the starting lineup..

so lets just agree to disagree...
