This seems to be a promising contest.
I personally don't care who wins, just want to see a nice contest.
Toss in a few minutes!

Hope Sri Lanka wins, this will decrease Aussies ranking points and get Pakistan to the top :)

Rain delay, weather is apparently ordinary.

2 debutants confirmed for us, Copeland and Lyon.

When you add Hughes and Khawaja to that list it is clear the rebuild has begun.

SL will confirm team at the toss, 8 spinners and 3 FTB :shahzaib

Bah, bat first, wanted to see Lyons and Copeland.

Go Aussies! (Weird but meh, atm I don't feel like supporting SL)

Probably only because I like a few Aussie players and I only like one SL player.

Hughes and Watson going to be a very quick scoring opening pair - while they are out there anyway...

Watto bringing it as usual. 3 fours in a row.

Yes CD Usman should be batting in the top 4. But like every team we have egos to manage and neither Clarke or Ponting will move to accomodate him.

I think he should bat at 4 actually. Clarke at 5 where he has made all his Test runs and Hussey at 6 where he made mountains of runs. Means batting order goes right, left, right, left. But hey that's probably too clever for current team management.

Watto hits another 4.

Watson has been on song in all the 3 formats for the last 3 years, yet to have a bad patch as opener.

I totally agree with you but I would say this tactic have worked for Aussies over the past and they have produced lots of big names like Punter, Clarke, Hussey etc and I sincerely hope Khawaja is next big thing just sake of his left hand batting and impeccable timing.

After Saeed Anwar he is the third left hand batsman I have been impressed with (first tow Kumar Sangakarra and Umar Amin).

faster men do not look likely taking any wickets unless batsman make mistake here.

Bit of Juice in the pitch- Sri Lanka have bounced back here after a quick-ish start from the openers.

From the look of it SL spinners want to bowl 80 of the overs today, their "quicks" are getting smashed.

Consecutive 4's to the Ponting.

This is a crucial partnership for Australia, there best two batsman are at the crease.

Sri Lanka need to strike again before lunch, bring in the new man to the crease and apply pressure.

Sri Lanka made a mistake here, should have played Mendis. He has more variations and the pitch suited him perfectly.

Clarke lucky to be out there. Don't know why Dilshan refused to take the review.

Good opening session for bot SL and Aus, match is evenly poised.

My prediction Pointing to hit a ton...

1st inns is going to be hugely vital here as pitch looks like it will crumble on days 4/5. Theres already something in it for the bowlers.

I think the Aussies will want to get big runs on the board so that they can they apply pressure on Sri lankans later on.

Game evenly poised at moment.

Sri Lanka know that hussey can be a dangerous player on this surface, can play the innings that would make the difference.
