Decent score imo, if they bowl out SL for around 300 and set a 250+ target this match is Australia's.
 
Hussey :out lbw so that's the end of Australian inning.

End of another brilliant inning from Mr. Cricket, Aussies are around 50 runs short here.
 
Aussies will need to bowl well tomorrow to get back into the game. Sri lankas batsmen very rarely miss out on their home patch!
 
Any channels from UK showing the game between Sri Lanka and Australlia, PP'ers?

Btw if Australia wins this series and SL goes down in ranking then England won't get much benefit by winning against SL and you might lose more points after losing any match against a lower ranked SL side.
 
We need the Aussies to beat India and South Africa so I might as well be consistent :p
 
Hussey can polish a turd all he likes but the reality is it was an ordinary day for Australia. Poor application by the batsmen as well with the exception of Hughes who got a good 'un. Nobody prepared to put the hard yards in except Huss and Dubya, who threw his wicket away like a novice. Expect SL to put up 400+ and we will be chasing the game again. On the plus side, we will see how Shane Warne Version 12 goes in conditions that should be suited for him.

Disagree OG, I am happy with 270. As soon as Watto went out I was hoping we might get 200.

But we are going to have to bowl well today.
 
I wanted a Punter century, oh well too bad, maybe in 2nd Innings. If Aussies can get Srilanka all out under 250 then it will be pretty interesting.

Do you think Copeland has it in him to succeed at this level? His stats are pretty impressive.

Hmm, lose a few minimal pts in SL, or allow Aus to gain some confidence before they hopefully beat India/SA at home?

Easy choice, as long as they win, England might actually hold onto the spot!

You just want him to confess that Copeland is a military medium trundler more suited to India than Australia, and an indication of how far Australia have fallen. Don't you :)?

Just not quick enough IMO.

And wickets in the Aus domestic comp are pretty easy to get these days because we have very few good batsmen. And those that are are babies.

Hope I am wrong but.....
 
The pitch is not at all easy, Sri Lanka must have a lead of 100 here so as to nutralize there lose at the toss.
 
it will be interesting to see how Australian spinners bowl on this surface, they would have plenty of purchase here.
 
This partnership should play it out till lunch, but make sure that they score whenever they have an opportunity because you never know when you will get out here.
 
Copeland's max pace is about 127 and his average is about 122-124. :akhtar

Just when he smashed his previous first sighter for a 4 you'd have thought he might care to take a look in at this difficult pitch, this is a Test match for starters.
 
Sri Lanka should not get ultra defensive here, its not going to get them anywhere.

Sri Lanka are going too slow here, if they loose a couple of wickets here they would be no where. They are wasting scoring opportunity here and playing to the hands of Autralians.

I dunno what match you're watching, there's no easy scoring opportunities been offered. Bowling has been very accurate and the bowl isn't coming on the bat. This is the sort of play you'll see throughout the match.
 
No spin yet. I have the feeling Clarke has more trust on his faster men to do the job here.

Jayawardhane is probably one of the best if not the best player of spin bowling in the world.

I think batting for too long on this pitch is tough so what is required is calculated chances, that is the way to go, you need to get the runs during the time you are on the pitch.
 
Come on boys, keep the pressure on.

Bowling has been accurate and good.

This is a much better balanced attack than we have fielded of late.

All well and good having 140kph bowlers but when all your quicks bowl 135-145 all day long the batters get used to it. Just get rid of Mitch and then we are cooking. And Haddin. And Hughes lol.
