Nice consistent tight bowling, haven't seen that in a while from Australia.

Shane Watson's bowling as quick as Harris and 20kmh quicker than Copeland :akhtar

Watto!! What a spell

Samara and Prasanna LBW in the same over

Sri Lanka flop on sporting pitch shock

Double strike by Watson in quick succession

Sri Lanka reeling 88/5

Watson gets his third LBW in two overs - amazing! He is getting wicked seam movement at medium pace and looking unplayable. What a cricketer

Parana gone

Don't know why Sri Lanka bothered reviewing these decisions :)) They were all atrociously out

Think that's the match for the Random Aussie

Just goes to show how well Hussey played

A first innings lead of any description was always going to be vital on this wicket, so a big one will be close to insurmountable

100/8 :)))

Looks a brave and correct call from Michael Brearley to bat first

If the Aussies are doing this, we can't possibly lose to these jokers when we tour in March - can we?

Lyon gets another. 7/100.

Told you 250+ was a good score.

Lyon won't get better conditions that this but it is a more promising debut than any of the other hacks we have tried. Nobody from pp has even called him rubbish yet.

They won't serve up this sort of pitch for your lot.

Will be highways all series. But no on what I have seen they are pretty bad.

Lol they are crumbling faster than I can post.

Was about to say the same! What performances from Watto and Lyon. Today is another example of the unpredictability and yes, beauty of test cricket. I think Sri Lanka lost 7 wickets for 20 runs. Lol

Yeah we bowled them out in one session in Cardiff. They do suck really, just don't give them a featherbed.

So the HTB's cant even bat @ home now....

Wonder what's going through the Fat Tunga Tonga's mind now???

Aussies have used their heads here and attacked the stumps on an uneven pitch which is pretty much the way to go,

No shock there has been loads LBWs in this inns.

Massive lead for Aussies here and they should look to set a target off 300+ here and win this game.

unbelievable debut for lyons! no one could've predicted that! 3 wickets for watson.. wow

Sri lankas batting was pathetic to say the least!

Fair play to Tweetdeck. Did everything right and triggered the collapse with a brilliant slip catch off Sanga

Can't believe I missed the Johnno wicket off a no-ball :))) Doesn't really help himself does he?

That's the beauty of having watto. Golden duck but he has won thus game for us with that spell as long as we don't stuff it up.

This game might not make it halfway lol

Punter's completely forgotten how to play the shot he once mastered.

Lanka have fallen in their own trap.

Aussies already have enough to win this test.
still I applaud Sri Lanka for doing this. At least they wanted a result. Should do this more often. Although this was a bad day, generally their batsmen should be better on these sort of pitches, and especially it'll prop up their weak bowling attack (if nothing else should know how to exploit the conditions).

Quite Frankly I thought we prepared our UAE pitches just to get draws off South Africa.

Haddin is so crap it's unbelievable. Another duck for his farm. :)))

Paine is a lot better, Haddin is a very overrated player of spin. Paine is a decent player of swing.

Australia already have more than enough runs. Obviously, no point of declaring though.

I was surprised they dropped him for Haddin in Limited overs cricket. He is far better LO wk batsman than him.

Test cricket needs more wickets like this. So much more entertaining to watch the batsmen actually being 'tested' in tough conditions and seeing batsmen like Hussey and Clarke really concentrate to get their runs.

We got matches like this in W.I when we played there.

Sticky wickets make the game alot fairer battle between ball and bat and its better to watch!

Dilshan is just not working as captain for them, they were such a strong batting lineup (at least at home) but since Murali's retirement and Dilshan reign they've just gone from bad to worse.

If you love 3 day matches then yeah, but this is just a poor pitch for test match. Pitches in SA and Eng though support bowlers more aren't a graveyard for batsmen they have challenge but also opportunity to score runs, this is just a poor ploy by Sri Lanka hoping Australia will fold to their spinners which has backfired big time.

Yes, I would prefer a three day test to a five day waste of time where 600 plays 600 and draws.

Given the relative flatness of wickets the world over and batsmen dominating, the odd shorter game is a breath of fresh air - a 'poor' pitch is just a bowler friendly wicket by the modern definition, when in reality it should be used to describe a dangerous wicket, sums up the way the game is tilted so heavily towards the batsmen.

No issue with the pitch IMO. Modern batsmen are just spoilt.

Not everything is the pitch either, trend with cricket these days is all about the pitch.

Batsmen from both sides have been pretty poor, it's not a minefield.

No, the rubbish India serve up with no pace no bounce no spin are poor pitches. Unless you just want to watch people bat for hours.

The amount of people out there who still probably rate Haddin...LOL

Agreed. Sums up the Indian circus and the reasons for the whitewash pretty well :p

and then when India do produce spinning track ... it's dustbowl and warning comes out from ICC.
