Defended very well against a high quality team, let ourselves down towards the end but a decent start. Hopefully we get better.

Decent start from Villa, plenty of energy and showed no fear but dont know how to keep possesion for any length of time.
Should do well at Villa Park but will be very happy to survive the drop back to the champioship.
It will be a long hard season for Villa. No goals in the team, and Mings is always prone to one mistake a game that'll be punished at this level.
Wesley is the new Emile Heskey.
FWAW.
Your team came via the playoffs, so wasnt even the best team in a very poor Championship. You have employed a scattergun approach to recruitment, and very few players with PL experience.
This is a very tough league, where even the likes of Burnley and Brighton will punish mistakes. Greasy Jack is a good player, but he wont be allowed to run games at this level. Mings was so good that he couldnt get into a poor Bournemouth side. McGinn is probably your best player, alongside Heaton. The rest of the squad are untested foreigners or PL failures.
You wont go down as there are probably three worse teams than you, but you will do well to finish 15th.
The pride of the WM, Wolves, so Im talking from experience.
The pride of my behind more like it, experience from being jobbershow many first division titles have you won? How many Euro titles again ? Delusional. West Brom have a better shot at being a pride more then you, wolvo are an absolute disgrace, vile team and fans

Your delusional fans do make me laugh. All your titles were decades ago. Recently, you’ve been marooned in the second tier.
And we have vile fans? Your fans were wanting Smith out as late as February when you lost to Albion. And I’m not talking a small minority either.
Show some humility my friend. I was merely offering you my informed opinion as a fan of another recently promoted team. You’ll find it very difficult because of the step up; also, you have notoriously fickle fans who will jump on the manager first bad run he has, when what you need is continuity.
Good luck, you’ll need it.
Yawn...
Nothing scattergun about our approach at all...we have a clear model in place...the Fulham comparison is just lazy...
I'd say we finished as the best side in the Championship...we started under Bruce remember who got the sack...and then we got unfortunate with injuries...with our first choice side we actually got that record for consecutive wins...
I'm under no illusions and I'm not suggesting we are going to conquer the league ...
Who btw are our Premier league failures???...oh wait is that what Mings is?...he spent most of that time injured frankly...and then they replaced him with Mepham...and Ake and Cook are not a poor pairing in any case...
Still not as big a club as ours i'm afraid...Mendes has brought you to the prem...
On the subject of Smith he is someone who will get time...even if we got down he will get time...
Long hard season, eh boys?)
Disastrous start to the season
You're still looked upon as jobbers in the WM and football in general no matter whatVilla is your superior, this is why you come here for respect, WolverJobberton don't even have a fan club here

Your head of recruitment is Christian Purslow. He invented scattergun recruitment. Speak to any LFC fan and they will tell you how poor his recruitment was for them.
Mings was always 'nearly' a good CB. But he always has a mistake in him. Its in his game, much like Stones. But he isnt a Stones - more of a Titus Bramble.
PS. Greasy Jack actually holds the PL record for most consecutive PL losses (19 and counting).
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has signed a new four-year contract until 2023.
The 48-year-old joined Villa in October 2018, succeeding Steve Bruce who was sacked after one win in nine league games.
Smith led the club to promotion from the Championship with a 2-1 victory against Derby in the play-off final in May.
Villa are 15th in the Premier League, four points above the relegation zone.
Smith told the official website: "I'm really happy to have committed my long-term future to the club.
"I'm looking forward to all the challenges that come with re-establishing Aston Villa as a top Premier League club."

shaz619 I might be at Villa Park for the Carling Cup game v Liverpool.
You should really beat us, even Klopp wont be there lol.
Hope you enjoy the game mate, it would be a big feather in our cap and we do desperately need a win to boost our confidence after some poor results, is there a second leg in the QF's I don't think so though but not sure
No and I might be wrong but no extra time either.
Thanks, should be a nice atmosphere with Xmas around the corner.
Well played Villa
Nervy day but congrats for staying up in the Premier League.
Pepe Reina said to Dean the win over Arsenal was the best feeling he had in football, that is crazy to think when the guy has won the World Cup and the other smaller trophies with Liverpool KingKhanWC![]()

It was a big win, not many expected a Villa win after Arsenal beat City and Liv.
Helping to keep a team in the PL is a massive achievement and Im sure he wants to show his loyalty for another bash next season.
Villa are not a poor team, they have plenty of money. Next season you cannot find yourselves in such a position. Not sure the manager will survive.
Congrats shaz619 - Villa is among the elites of English soccer, and the most popular club in mid-country. It's going to be a great 2020-21 season with two of the stalwarts of English soccer are back in EPL - A Villa (they were all but gone till 36th game) and Leeds United. You can add WBA as well, a former 1st Division champs.
He only won FA cup with Liverpool I think.
Anyways it’s great achievement. Congrats!
Grealish if he was to leave for United he wont be guaranteed to start so maybe he might stay, I don't know of other teams who are interested; Tottenham were rumoured a few years ago.
Jack Grealish has signed a new long-term contract at Aston Villa.
One of the greatest nights in Villa’s history.
This royal ownage of Klopp and his unlikeable Liverpool team will never be forgotten.
Thank you.

Villa have won 7 top flight league titles, 7FA cups and a European cup
Villa fans are acting like they've won the league, shows the dreams of each club.
Its a one off, like a rare occurance. We will crush them at Anfield and hopefully I will be there to see it.

Villa’s greatest win.
But Arsenal fans need to pipe down. Arsenal fans are amongst the most delusional on the planet. You guys are the reason your team has been mocked over the last few years. You have finally found a decent manager abd think you are on top of the world.
You are out of touch with reality and have no idea what you are talking about. Your inaccurate assessment of Arsenal fans is not up to date.
Sure you will find delusional fans everywhere, but the vast majority of Arsenal supporters do not shy away from the fact that the club is still miles away from competing for the title, and even a top 4 finish seems unrealistic.
The reason why there is greater optimism these days is because at least the manager is very good and can take Arsenal up a notch IF he is backed by the board in the transfer market which has not happened yet.
The club has not been able to secure any of his midfield targets (Aouar, Partey, perhaps Coutinho) even though the midfield is seriously short of creativity and technical ability.
If Arsenal fans were delusional and overly optimistic and they would not be lashing out on the board for not giving Arteta the funds to make the required signings.
Agreed, we all know the problem stems from Kroenke.
Board has been poor as well, especially when we had Raul Sanllehi who splashed £70m+ on Pepe.
No need of mocking them. They were promoted after 3 years and barely survived relegation last season. Of course they are going to celebrate this victory like a trophy, it is among the greatest individual PL wins ever.
Fans always go overboard when they achieve something big especially after a long time.
Last season, Liverpool fans acted as if they were the first team ever to walk the league, and in spite of all the noise they made, they couldn’t match Man City’s 2017-18 season and ended up with more defeats and less points.
The players were doing photoshoots with the PL and UCL trophy together, even though they had won the UCL in the previous season and were already dumped out by Atletico when they were holding both trophies together for the cameras.
If someone sees those photos without context, they would think that Liverpool did the double.
So please don’t mock Villa fans. All fans go overboard with celebrations within their capacity.
Be humble. They have every right to celebrate this demolition. They opened a gaping wound in our side that may take a long time to heal.
Really good effort by the Villa kids, gave it all.
Funny to see an Asian coach of Villa running after Salah for his jersey.
Hope Villa players recover from Covid so they can continue their good run in the league.
Really proud of the boys ...Owen was chatting about Salah and Mane competing for hat tricks ..
We held our own for an hour ...Thiago though was just a cut above everyone on the pitch ...and our players being as young as they were spent after an hour ...
What’s even more positive is these boys haven’t played a match since mid-December with the academy sides having a break ...and three of our biggest prospects weren’t available as they were isolating ...
Spurs if the Prem are being consistent can’t go ahead...we have 9 positives and 3 injuries...we can’t field a team of 14 as per the rules...
Second half was always going to be a lot tougher due to the fitness of the youngsters, they are still growing. Proud moment for their parents, many of whom drove them to the groud but sadly werent able to watch live.
Im not a fan of cancelling or suspending any games but with so many out, it's a must. Villa also deserve to play with their strongest side as they have performed very well in the PL so far.
