Azhar has missed out. Openers need to rotate the strike somehow

Khan still living dangerously. Not convincing at all. Kind of disappointing, especially after SA.

Shan Masood is unable to get his feet moving so far. Playing French cricket

Missing deliveries on leg stump, middle stump and off stump

Misbah doing warm ups on the side line. He may just take over the side and become captain:misbah

Haris's place in the side may be in question. He has shown he has no idea how to play the short ball already.

I would trust him to play.... but he seems to be troubled even by the slightest bounce

Haris Sohail 4(15) c Pucovski b Neser.

Ifti could find himself facing the second new ball if he is batting at 6, so this will be good practice.

It's important to select players according to conditions, and Haris is not suited to these conditions. He has to learn how play the short ball and not get bogged down by it. At the moment he gets a couple of short ones and plays them awkwardly, then his feet plant into the ground and don't move, leaving him very vulnerable to edging the full one.

temperature at Perth is 36 C, with no clouds at all. The Australia and New Zealand sun is a killer due to the ozone hole and little air pollution. So drinks will be every 40 minutes.

Harris got a snorter to be fair. happens when you are out of touch though not defending his questionable
backfoot play

Yeah it was a good delivery. His struggles against the short ball are well documented though. He really needs to work on his footwork and short ball ability if he wants to progress and perform in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

Iftikhar shows all of his stumps when he drives down the wicket

Ifti playing his shots. He is a strokemaker more suited to number 5 and 6 position which will allow him to play freely against the old ball.

He has what I call "Ganguly Problem" God of off side but weak at anything short on the body and with his
stance it will always be a problem. He has to be a little more side on to handle Bodyline bowling

Yep, he has a low stance with bent knees means it takes that extra time to get up and move his feet, so his feet rarely move and he can't get on the back foot. Staying low works in Asia, but not at all in the Southern Hemisphere cricket nations.

Iftikhar looks like he is picking the length up early, he ducked as soon as he released it. And he isn't bogged down by the bouncer, smashes a wide full ball for 4 through the covers next ball.

We need at least 4 of them to play these few weeks respectably. Babar, hopefully Asad, Ifti and a wildcard.

Tbh the middle order looks pretty good. It's the openers and number 3 I am worried about, they are really struggling. Shan hasn't looked convincing, he looks like he is just surviving. A lot will rely on Babar, Asad and Iftikhar. Giving Abid Ali a go at 3 can do no harm to the team.

Agreed. Very few true shots from the top 3 for this match. They're looking uncomfortable without Starc, Cummins and Hazelwood coming at them. Shaheen seemed more confident yesterday tbh.

Shaheen's lengths were really good and he was moving the ball. Probably still trying to get to full fitness though.

Shan Masood's control percentage has to be below 50% this inning.

Harris has to come at no.5 looking at his struggle with new ball. Means Babar or Shafiq at no.3

Ha Ha, Even Rashid latif was saying the same. Pakistan will need all the runs it can from the tail

It's good that we have Babar and Iftikhar in the middle order, 2 positive test batsmen that can play the short ball in the middle order is something we haven't had in a long time. This may just be the best chance we have had in years in Australia. Not saying we're winning, but we have a better chance than before.

I hope Masood doesn’t throw it away now: needs to go big so that he gets in to the first game with confidence

I'm hoping they declare soon so Naseem has a chance to bowl. Shaheen needs some more time as well to bowl.

Especially since it's just a 2-match series. Would back Australia to win both normally but it's easier to spring a surprise and cause a bit of an upset. Some luck, some fluke, a bit of hard work and all of a sudden you've not lost a test series in Australia, lol.

I have a feeling Pakistan will give a very tough time to the Aussies. This will be a very close series contrary to the belief it will be one sided.

I feel like we have a solid test batting line up: Azhar is the weak link.

Shan masood has a poor technique.
stays too leg side of the ball, doesnt cover the line of the ball outside the off stump and puts no weight behind his drives by committing on to the front foot.
He'll need a lot of luck to score runs in test series
