Pakistan should play 4 pacers. But if Imad stays unfit for this game. I will even think about playing 5 pacers
 
I think this pitch will suit Pakistan's strengths, provided they play with good game awareness.

This pitch requires quality seam bowling, we have four extremely good pace bowlers.

This pitch requires the top order to take the game deep and let the hitters take over once the ball gets old, our template is exactly that.

We will still find a way to muck it up.
 
Pak have already lost 90% the final 10% will depend on toss why can’t the cameraman just zoom in on the coin when it lands !

Yesterday the match ref first said Ireland won the toss then changed his mind to India.

Exactly this pitch will suit Pakistan so they are favourite .india only hope is bumrah if he can get two three early wickets then game will be on otherwise i don't see India have any chance against Pakistan pace attack.
 
For India game, Imad should come in no matter what. He can give you some extra edge with his batting. Even if have to drop shadab for him, Pakistan should.

India’s first game of the 2024 T20 World Cup vs Ireland in New York was played in front of many empty seats and the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) inflated pricing and a very subdued marketing plan are the prime reasons for it nowhere close to being a full house. While the grand stands were filled, the premium North and South stands of the venue, with prices around $1,000, had no takers. It wasn’t a pleasant broadcast experience too as there were so many vacant seats around the sight screen at both ends.

Unlike the 2023 World Cup in India, official attendance hasn’t been revealed yet for the ongoing T20 World Cup yet but it’s safe to say there were little over 20,000 fans for India’s opening clash. The ones who attended the fixture weren’t happy with the arrangements and the facilities which they got for the price, and global cricket body needs to up its game to ensure a packed house for India vs Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue.

As of June 6, the match is not yet sold out and there are plenty of Diamond Club ($10,000), Corner Clubs ($2,750) and Premium Club Lounge ($2,500) seats still available. These are the same premium seats which had very few takers for the India-Ireland game, where the prices were considerably lower.

The ICC recently released more General Admission tickets for the high-octane clash and if they fail to fill up the stadium, the move to take World Cup to the USA can safely be termed a disaster. Three out of four India group games were scheduled for New York and the organiser’s struggle to bring crowd for these games reiterates why the rushed effort, without a proper plan and meticulous marketing, has backfired.

“A lot depends on India vs Pakistan fixture. ICC will be left embarrassed if they don’t manage to fill up the stadium for the marquee clash. The success of USA leg is majorly dependent on that match and there is now very little time left for the ICC to turn things around. I am sure the top brass will be very worried at the moment,” says an industry source tracking developments.

India vs Pakistan continues to be the hottest cricketing property and the last time these sides met – at the MCG during the 2022 T20 World Cup and Narendra Modi Stadium during the 2023 ODI World Cup – there were over 90,000 and 1,00,000 spectators in the stands respectively.

Not many are bothered about what’s happening in Florida or Dallas while the attention remains on New York. The pitch, outfield and the logistical nightmares at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have been the talk of the town, and empty seats for India games will only make the chatter get louder.

There has been a lot of activity around tickets for India vs Pakistan on social media and surprisingly, sellers outnumber the buyers. If the trend continues, the stakeholders, most importantly broadcaster Star Sports (linear broadcast) and Disney+ Hotstar (digital broadcast) who have paid a fortune for media rights for the ongoing cycle, will be ready with some tough questions for the global body.

Pakistan players have played 100s of PSL matches on such slow sluggish wickets. While India have played only on roads in IPL. It's experience of playing 100s of matches Vs 1 match against minnows Ireland.

Time to show the world why PSL is the best when it comes to bowling. :akhtar

Apart from facing challenging wickets and superior bowlers of PSL, Pakistani players have played in CPL extensively. That will come handy in super 8s.

the team needs to maintain positivity. It will be hard but they have to. The best way to draw the line under the debacle of today is to try something new. Need to bring in Abrar, Imad and Saim and drop 3 players. Any 3.
 
Time for Pakistan to resurrect that cornered tiger spirit. Indian team selection doesn’t inspire much confidence in me either. IMO, India will have to play out of skin to win this game.
 
India are about 95% favourites. Before I was dreading another humiliation but I'm a lot calmer now knowing that we have next to no chance especially after today. Pak should treat it as a free hit and go all guns blazing.

Tbf, Pakistan tend to always humiliate themselves first before inexplicably making it to finals or winning a trophy (1992, 2003, 2009, 2017, 2022).

The only time they got to a final where they didn't become a laughing stock on the road to it was 2007.

Ive not lost hope, but a loss to USA is a pretty big kick in the balls 🤣

This inning against such a minnow side isn’t at all impressive. He’s in the team primarily as a bowler. He has now delivered as a bowler for years now. He’s not going to give you runs against legitimate teams.

That’s the bottom line. Just check his stats in the 2023 ODI WC.

I agree, so you’d keep Ifthikar when he couldn’t score against USA?

Shadab doesn’t have to bowl, he can play as a batsman only and he’ll be more effective than ifthikar.

Honestly - in an ironic way Pakistan at least psychologically is in a cornered (whatever animal you choose) situation. And they cannot sink any lower. The only way has to be up.

T20 is truly the one format where the gulf in the class of teams is minimized because of the extremely limited number of overs and given the hullaballoo over the pitch - that gulf becomes even smaller.

Pakistan has to believe in themselves and give it their absolute 100%.

yea Lot of teams did have their nervy moments. Heck even Australia looked like going nowhere against Oman before Stoinis capitalized on the dropped chance.

So pakistan losing to India won't be viewed as a shock or surprise. So they have ntohing to lose. Just 2 or 3 good over with new ball they will be in with a chance. Indian bowling is not exactly the best one barring Bumrah. Kuldeep won't enjoy this tacky pitch.

But the Pakistan team seems to be in a state of panic, so don't really expect them to win against India considering that ICC is also trying to improve the NY pitch.

Pakistan's best bet now seems to be that somehow Ireland beat USA and we scrape through on NRR by beating Canada and Ireland.

Exacly that. Even before the tournament started I said Pakistan will lose to India definitely and possibly Ireland. I was thinking they would beat ireland after I saw how Ireland batted. Pakistan was badly shown up as a timid,coward team with no confidence, planning nor leadership. USA opened the exit door and India will lock it. The pitch going to be used for the match is not like the Pak Test match roads but rather like the pitches used in PSL.

Too much practice done on similar pitches. Pak should easily roar back like the cornered tiger. 🐯
 
The state of panic this time is what is different from past cornered tiger campaigns. Seems like establishment ka danda is what is freaking these guys out. This is a divided dressing room and I don't see them bouncing back against India at least, dodgy pitch or not. Our best teams have frozen against India in the past, this team stands no chance.
 
Funnily enough, Pakistan's chances of winning against India have probably increased from 5 to 10%.

The moment everybody writes off Pakistan completely is the moment they can surprise you. If they had come on the back of an easy USA win, Pakistan would've stood no chance. Now on the back of the USA defeat, I think they have slightly increased their chances of winning. :p

Dude enough with this. This software engineer was in India U-19s and has been playing for the USA for 5 years. He gets a salary from USA cricket too and it's not insubstantial either.

Pak have a 20% chance of winning the game and that's only if they field first

If they lose the toss, you might as well switch of the TV

The pitch conditions were the focus with them helping the pacers in the morning. But now ICC is working on these pitches, wonder how much the conditions will change. Before it was win the toss and bowl first type of pitch.

This will be a test match cricket i think. Only Pant may be belligerent as he plays the Tests also like that.
