[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Babar Azam re-appointed as Pakistan white-ball captain

Is it the right decision to re-appoint Babar Azam as white-ball captain?

Babar needs to go watch his post-match interviews and realize that he is saying the same thing in pretty much every game he has lost.

T20 cricket nowadays is about scoring above par, not even par scores which have soared to around 200-210 on flat wickets nowadays.

We need to stop hiding behind the bowling, batters nowadays will take down even the best bowlers in the world. The likes of Head, Klassen, Miller, Maxwell etc won't care about the reputation of the bowler, they will just try to go downtown on them from ball one.

A series loss vs NZ G will make the Ireland series even more fun.

Babar will be exposed further not just as a captain but as a T20 player.

I can’t see us winning a game until the USA match.

They are going to get pasted against Ireland and a lot of their tactics will be exposed before them too.

Ireland are the only one to gain from this series. They will fancy beating Pakistan in the West Indies

The reappointment of Babar Azam as captain was such a backward decision that we are now witnessing its consequences. Now, Babar will likely try to justify his performance by arguing that our main batter, Mohammad Rizwan, is not in the team and as I have mentioned before, we are doing experiments. Babar as captain is a curse to the Pakistan team.

We are experimenting against a very very powerful full strength NZ TEAM and we don't have our Star batter Muhammad rizwan.

Now leave me alone.

Yet another poor series as captain.

What was the PCB criteria for reappointing him? Has he ever won a PSL title as captain let alone his international captaincy record?

The other options like Rizwan, Shaheen and Shadab can atleast boast of having won a PSL title, what can Babar boast about?

England spinner Adil Rashid, during an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, revealed that he enjoys bowling to Babar Azam:

"I enjoy bowling to everybody as a bowler you have to be careful against each player. But I especially enjoy bowling to Babar Azam because he's a class player. He is one of the best batters in the world. He’s not only a good player of spin but equally a good player against pacers too. It happens in cricket as it’s the part and parcel of this game and sometimes I might get him out. Hopefully when he comes here, I will try to get him out again."

A rare spectacle indeed lol, a 95-meter six launched by Babar Azam in Power Play against New Zealand in 5th T20I

Babar Azam reached his 34th T20I fifty off 35 balls against New Zealand in the 5th T20I, marking his first fifty of this series.

Record Alert:

Babar Azam scored his 408th four during the match against New Zealand in his 108th innings, which took him above Ireland’s Paul Stirling who hit 407 fours in 136 innings.

I think he listened to Hafeez's interview before playing tonight's innings, as we can see modern-day cricket skills in his performance tonight.

Your thoughts on the emoji on the shoes that Babar Azam is wearing tonight?

Some criticism of Babar for not using Imad and Shadab Khan for so long in the game?

In the final T20I match against New Zealand, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam set a new record for the most fours in T20I cricket with 409, surpassing Paul Stirling’s 407. He also equaled Aaron Finch’s record of captaining in 76 T20I matches. The nine-run victory for Pakistan also marked Babar Azma’s 44th win as a captain, tying with Brian Masaba’s record for the most wins as a T20I captain.

I think it's fine. Idk if its luck or if he was actually smart and read the conditions.

On one hand the moron still decided to bowl abass in the PP knowing full well he's poor in that period.

On the other hand he brought spinners during the period the pitch slowed down and it was getting difficult to play spin.

So both good and bad.

Babar Azam is on the verge of breaking several records in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, which starts on May 10. With one more win, he will become the most successful T20I captain, surpassing Brian Masaba’s record of 44 wins. He is also set to become the player with the most T20Is as a captain, surpassing Aaron Finch’s record when he leads Pakistan in the match against Ireland.

On the batting front, Babar is close to becoming the first Pakistani player to score over 4000 runs in T20I cricket. He currently has 3823 runs and trails behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Babar needs 215 runs to surpass Kohli’s record.

Can he score 215 runs in the Ireland series? I guess nope. He will have to wait for the england series.

Tells you a lot. He is going to become the most experienced T20I captain in history. Yet, it doesn't reflect. Either through his captaincy or trophy cabinet.

Babar has to win this WT20. Otherwise there will be no legacy of him as a captain.

Yes he might be the wining many T20 games but his trophy cabinet is still empty. He need to win big.

Babar azam is the man who turned all rankings into a joke.

Imagine being proud that you surpassed a Uganda captain lol.

Real shame. He will live like a king in Pakistan with these kinds of achievements
King of What? Surpassing Uganda 😂😂😂. If it were me I'd have left captaincy alone after 2023 lol, even I don't know want this record 🤦🏻‍♂️.

I don't think anyone has ever built up a legacy as a T20 captain based on bilaterals. It's meaningless

During an event in Karachi, Pakistan's former all-rounder Shahid Afridi while addressing the media:

"We want to see improvement in him in the upcoming 3-3.5 years. We want him to be a world-class captain too, along with being a world-class player. So this is a very good opportunity for Babar Azam in the ICC T20I World Cup 2024, as he has been with the team for a very long time and has been captaining the team for a very long time too, and is also ranked 1 or 2 in the ICC batting rankings."

"He [Babar Azam], Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan have all been playing together in the Pakistan team for a very long time now without being dropped, so now they, as seniors, should perform and win a trophy for Pakistan or, if not the trophy, at least play in the final."

Wtaf I thought Afridi was talking about Saim Ayub and then I heard Babar’s name pop up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.

So you're saying the No 1 Batsmen on the god damn planet needs improvement and needs 3.5 years to show it. HAHAHAHA.

Oh bhai, this is 5th years captaining now. Kitna experience chayei.

Kamal

Another fifty for Pakistan Captain Babar Azam currently 50*(39). Will this be in a winning cause for PCT?

Babar Azam equalled the record of Virat Kohli of scoring the most 50+ scores in T20Is during the 1st T20I against Ireland.

Most 50+ scores in T20Is:

Babar Azam: 38 in 108 innings

Virat Kohl: 38 in 109 innings

Rohit Sharma: 34 in 143 innings

Mohammad Rizwan: 27 in 81 innings

David Warner: 27 in 103 innings

But who told that you Pakistan will become a winning machine after Babar became reinstated as captain?

Pakistan was a poor team when Babar resigned, it was a poor team when Shaheen took over and it is a poor team now that Babar has reclaimed captaincy.

Babar is the best available option to captain Pakistan for the next few years because no matter captains the side, the results will be the same. We are just not good enough.

Who in the PCB Selection Committee supported Babar's reinstatement as captain?

Yousaf Yes

Wahab Yes

Razzaq Yes

Who outside the PCB influenced PCB to reinstate Babar Azam's reinstatement as captain?

Javed Afridi Yes

Which Politicians influenced PCB to reinstate Babar Azam's reinstatement as captain?

????

Babar Azam himself who accepted the captaincy yet again after 5 years of failures

It’s so hard for some Pakistani fans to understand that Babar’s captaincy is not the issue here, issue is Pakistan is a poor team. Are you telling me that India, Australia, NZ, etc would not have defended 182 runs against Ireland, doesn’t matter who the captain is? Pakistan bowling lineup has been struggling for a while now. They need a good spinner in the middle overs and a good death over’s bowler.

Question: Would we have lost this match if Rizwan was the Kuptaan? While not completely convinced with Riz opening the batting in T20s, I am sure he would have done better, tactically as the Kuptaan...

Babar made a huge mistake by accepting the captaincy again. This has tarnished his legacy as a captain and will probably tarnish his Cricketing career as a batter even from now on onwards.

It was a sinking ship and Babar raised hand to become the captain.

Typical nonsense

Australia, India, England, South Africa will score 180 only against Ireland on this track??

which part of my post you didn’t understand that Pakistan is a poor team? Assumption was if they had posted 182 they would have defended it. No where did I say Pakistan posted a par total.

Rizwan as he has shown in the PSL actually knows how to manage his resources. His body language as captain on the field is better and more reassuring in comparison to Babar.

Revolting individual, revolting captain and a revolting fan club to go with it.
My feelings exactly.

There is no probably no point watching Pakistan team anymore until this joke of a leader remains the captain. I won't be able to miss the world cup completely but my motivation to watch this nonsense again and again is zero for any other matches.

And Rizwan should be in the XI because?

Rizzu is no different then Bobby as a captain lmao. Literally none.

According to Major, rizwan has been specially trained to be a captain under Misbah Ul Haq.

What does that tell you? Shall we revist 2013-2015 of white ball cricket under Misbah

Tanveer is right. Pakistan is a poor team and Babar is leading a poor team. A captain can only be as good as the team he is leading.

but the way babar spoiled the powerplay makes him even pathetic member and captain of this team.
Babar has to increase his SR no doubt but why single out the captain? Fakhar Zaman was very slow to move along. Azam Khan played a horrible shot to get out. Winning the game is not only captain’s responsibility. You either win as a team or lose as a team and right now Pakistan is losing because they are a poor team!

Again…

It is the captain who puts him at number 4!

He’s

Not

A

Number

4!

The captain or the management who decided this take the blame! You can’t put a Striker to play in central midfield in football!

Sarfraz, yK and IK will always be > Babar as captains as long as they have a tournament victory on them and babar doesn't.

Infact babar now has the honor of having the most minnow losses then any other pakistani captain in history.

Sarfraz had a horrible 2018 and a subpar 2019. Amd an amazing 2016-2017

Babar had a decent 2021, an embarrassing 2022 batting wise but good captaincy wise. A meme worth 2023 and and even more memeable 2024 as captain.

Breaking world records under the captaincy of the King Babar.

1) First time loss against Afghanistan in a worldcup

2) Loss against zimbabwe twice

3) Loss against Ireland

Whats next: Uganda, USA or Canada?

USA has Corey anderson who will eat this bowling alive.

This bowling attack is so poor, burnt out end of the line players like Martin guptill, Corey anderson will spring to life.

I've said it multiple times, only chances are to chase and bat put of our skins.

This bowling line won't even defend against Minnows. Its pathetic and the batting line up is beyond pedestrian.

Minnow batting, associate bowling and gull cricket level fielding

Babar has effectively desensitised us. Deep down, it really hurts. I dont even know how i manage to push myself to follow Pakistan cricket with Babar and Rizwan in the mix.

If Pakistani awam was not hijacked by personality worship, no pakistani cricket captain would have survived losing to Zimbabwe let alone Afghanistan in a worldcup. We did not make enough noise. We defended garbage. We lowered our standards to alarming degrees.

Personality worship is cancerous to Pakistan and Pakistan cricket. The cults have destroyed us. Today is a truly shameful moment for Pakistan cricket. One of the darkest days.

Pakistani awam needs to wake up. Today, you should all watch Pakistan playing Japan in Azlan Shah and support them with all your heart. Those players have more ghairat than our captain and cricket team.

Tbf bro, these 2 aren't that bad as people make them out to be. Pre 2022 they had good form, they declined after.

Problem isn't their form, it's their god damn ego. Babar is not a t20 player and neither is rizwan, Babar should only play pdi and test. And rizwan should only play test, that's it.

Babar in odi is fine, he can pull at many 19 of 22's or 38 of 27's as he wants in odi no issue..and rizwan is a good test bat at no 6.

Rizwan is a poor no 4 and babar is a poor opener/3 in t20 same with rizzu. But zidi bachei and ego's

A captain is ultimately judged by results. Babar's been captain for 5 years now and he has been selecting these players for 5 years. Plus his own form has not been good enough

Humiliation for people who were jumping around when he was reappointed. Worst decision by naqvi which he will regret.
