Scored a hundred in the 4th test in Australia.
Scored a hundred in the 4th test in India vs England.


I dont rate him, gotta do it while we are alive in the series. You disappoint me Kohli. :moyo
 
Theoretically yes. But we are completely broke mate with England winning 2 tests in India. They haven't won that many in decades before this.
 
I think it was an excellent knock under pressure. Effectively gave us a chance to draw this series, which, obviously, is much better than losing the series.

I do agree that it would have been nice if he gave us a chance to win the series. But I can't think of any of our batsmen that managed to do that, barring Pujara.

Look at the bright side...India didnt lose the test where he scored right..The record stands 1-1-1 as far as his century goes. Not very good but not too bad either
 
In regards to test series just played v england its been a massive learning curve for kohli some of the shots he played during the series were atrocious. Whilst he may already be a ODI superstar hes still got a lot to learn and live up to in Test cricket.
 
Kohli was ordinary during this series. But these are just early days for him. It is too early to read anything into his performances.
 
Virat has still got a lot to prove in tests , that goes whithout saying ...but dont think hes been over hyped the way people care saying here . At 24 if you have already scored 15-16 International hundreds , he deserves all the hype ..I see no reason he cant translate his run from ODI's to tests . Different formats , but the talent is there & more improtantly you can see that he wants to do well in tests .
 
The best thing is he is willing to learn. He fails hard in 3 tests but comes up with a ton in the 4th. In all the innings, he tried to hang around. With experience and a few more years, he will be scoring tons consistently. I had said that he will go through a bad patch. But even in that patch, he tries to stick around and score as much as he can. Signs of a very good and successful batsman for me.
 
Even a totally inept batsman like Bell scored a not out ton on this road of a track...

Massivelyoverrated...but definitely in the mold of Indian rich batting traditions of raking it in on flat tracks...

Typical Indian flat track bully batting great...
 
Well..

He has struggled in Test matches but will of course learn and come back stronger as he has a strong and winner mentality.

He has done well in ODIs everywhere so I dont see why he is "massively overrated" as some people makes him out to be.

Indian Batsmen score more runs in SA/ENG/AUS than their other SC counterparts.

What is the avg of Inzy in SA and AUS?What is the avg of Abbas in WI?

LoL.Gavaskar/Amarnath/Tendulkar/Dravid/Laxman/Vengsarkar etc are anything but FTBs.

Anyways,doesnt matter it wont get into your head,jeep up with your stuff.

No they don't, certainly not in similar conditions/opposition...

Usually the lead bowlers are injured or BCCI has custom ordered batting tracks...

hundred by Kohil vs SL in Horbat (India out CB series)
Hundred by Kohil vs Pak in Asia cup(India out of Aisa cup)
Hundred by Kohil vs England in Nagpur (India lost test series)
 
So how many test batsmen in recent years started smashing runs in Test cricket right after their debuts.

There are greats/potentials like Ponting, Hussey, KP, Lara, Smith, ABCD and Cook who were instant hits
And then there batsmen like Dravid, Kallis, Gooch, Moyo who took a few years to really hit their strides.

Kohli may be on the other category.

Kohli is going to get a very long rope, not less than a few years regardless of how he plays. Whether he will turn out to be a Yuvi like test player (<40 avg) or Azhar, Ganguly,Laxman like player (mid forties) or a high class Dravid, Sachin (50+) is anybody's guess. His ODI exploits wont necesarily make him a legend in test cricket - but he certainly got the talent.

:kohli got exposed by Irfan bounce. This joker always fails against any team with decent boaling attack .Today was no different.

Seen him struggle against Finn, Morkel & now Irfan.......all tall bowlers and he's struggled when they've bowled short at him.

Kohli has a weakness!
 
Lack of pace did him! He was clearly not afraid to take on the giant! Would be interesting in Ahmedabad..

But sadly woefully inadequate at that...like many a great Indian flat track bullies has no pull/hook shot

He should do himself and India a huge favor and put himself on the injury list when the ball is expected to rise above the knee...

As flat track a bully as they come...

Don't think Akmal is most Pakistanis' hero, unlike Kohli who is without any exception and unconditionally thought of as a great by all Indians

Pakistanis are the first to criticize their great and not so great players...please refer to all Umar Akmal threads and look at the critical posts by Pakistanis including yours truly...

Everyone is better than U Akmal. Except his fans (some deluded individuals) many of us don't rate him highly.. People who want to play at number 3 or 4 should stop that nonsense after seeing him bat today. There a daylight gap b/w bat and ball today. That's how poor his technique is. been saying all along..

He scored hundreds in Australia and pulled and hooked nicely.He is better than most SC batsman at that.

13 ODI hundred in them.
Did nothing in 2009 champions trophy.
Did nothing in 2009 world cup.
Did nothing against australia in Australia and was out of CB series first round.

T20: Did nothing in the first T20 world cup he played
Did nothing in the two crunch games (SA, Australia) in the previous world cup.


Test: Scored a hundred in the 4th test in australia when already 3-0 down and couldn't win.
Scored a hundred against England after failling all series -2-1 down) and that was a match saving one.

Realistically, as a supporter of any team playing against India, what should I be jealous of? (apart see India beat Sri Lanka at home, away and neutral)

On that flat road where the likes of great Hafeez and Jamshed scored tons...and against the wayward short and legside feeding provided by the great Wahab and 3 years past his expiry date Gul...
 
He failed in one T20 match. Be serious. A lot of Pakistani posters like seeing him fail that's all there is to it. Also why are people comparing Kohli and Akmal.....again? We get it Indians. Kohli is miles better.

Don't exactly recall hooks and pulls....but the batting tracks Aussies have been obliging India with lately doesn't make batting too difficult in Australia, particularly given their pathetic bowling lineup that he went up against...

Also that was a dead rubber and he had failed in 7 other innings on the tour...even the likes of Salman Butt scored a century down there in less number of chances...
 
The jealousy flowing out of the posters here.They havent seen a batsman of Kohli's class play for Pakistan in years.Theur hyped up Akmal has failed.

Just thought for a bloke that holds Afridi (a cricketer with an average overall record) in such high esteem, surely you should have some appreciation for a genuinely good batsman like Kohli?

There are a lot of Cricketers I hold in high esteem than Afridi. When you don't know something it is better to keep quiet. Cheer leading looks bad on a poster of your experience.

Kohli is a good batsman, seriously underestimated by some here, and yes he can play the short ball - particularly in comparison to other players from the SC.

what a stupid and irrelevent post! Afridi was never a specialist batsman! He is an all-rounder. Kohli is obviously a way better batsman than him . u should compare them when kohli takes 350 ODI wickets like afridi.
