Virat Kohli - The Mega Discussion

Don't you think that they are like role model to us or any other young player. Look this is what Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

I'm sure he's been copping it from the OZ most of the day lol. A bit of verbals is all it is.

Congrats anyway, nice to see the aussies go upto him at the end, even though he appeared to still want to carry on te fight.

That's how it is - you fight hard on the field but you congratulate them and say well played at the end. It would be churlish to do otherwise.

Well played.

The sign is clear, get more youngsters. Keep Sachin and dump the rest :)

Like the way Ponting came when he was having a fight with Warner. Good knock under pressure. 2 good innings at Perth have given some confidence , I feel.

Wish they had played Rohit and Rahane as well .

Lol at him yelling out sister14 when celebrating his ton.

what about wriddhiman saha? poor guy gets bashed for no reason(By indians no less). he showed MUCH better technique than top order ipl bullies(lax is not even that lol).

i dont mind the aggression if it gets him runs. makes it a little more interesting to watch.

Thats a pathetic philosophy of the aussies as far as i know.Fighting hard does not mean sledging and verbal duels at all as the aussies have been doing for a long time.why cant just ppl shut up and fight hard through your bowling and batting skills (which of course ur doing great in this series). Its like pinching a baby hard, making it cry (not all people can take ur sledges u must understand, there are lot of ppl like kohli who prefer crying back too)and then trying to console it.

Theres a major difference between natural and fake aggresion.Fake aggresion is what this sreesanth is doing -"come what may i behave like a monkey".Its the same philosophy of aussies -"come what may we sledge whatever we like to everyone, lets be friends anyways end of day"

New to cricket?

Not to support him for this series, his time may have gone and he needs to retire, but if u take the entire history of opposition team players batting in australia,VVS laxman would surely be in the top 3.This guy has single handedly dominated australia home and away from 1999-2010.Without his innings, all ind-aus series would have been proceeded in the same way as it is now.He deserves a lot more respect, and i wish he never plays for the country again seeing the amount of hatred is getting just for the last 2 series.

i agree. he should not be made the scapegoat. his 281 i regard as the best test innings i have witnessed. even dravid, sehwag, gambhir, etc. deserve the blame. sachin also for getting good starts and getting out to poor shots.

The new Indian guys have few loose screws.
His team is heading for another defeat, another whitewash. He could do without these swears and OTT celebrations.

Are you suggesting India are babies?

good innings, sealed atleast one spot, now kick an oldie out n get Sharma in

agree about his attitude, but hey everyone isnt as calm as :misbah,he seems to me like Ponting in his early days

HUMBLE PIE EATING ALERT for me....

I bagged and dissed this kid like crazy because I wanted to see my boi Rohit Sharma in the side, and I wish I could now take it back but I cant. This kid is easliy the best young middle order batting talent going around........... Whatever happened to that Kholi vs Umar Akmal thread ???? cause I want to correct myself and say: KHOLI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> then some more>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Umar Akmal...

I agree with u that Rohit should've played.I think he'll do better than Kohli imo

With Kholi and Rohit Sharma soon manning the midddllee order,,,,, I feelll India's futureee is brighttt......

Oh Rohit will be good, I think he will have a great career, he reminds of a version of INZI that wont under achieve (hopefully)...

"In Sydney they were after me because I wasn't scoring. Today they were pissed [off] because I got a hundred so it hasn't changed much, but the reasons have changed."

:))) :)))

Rohit is still better RR. He would have done the same, we need to unleash them all together. Youngsters will not take much time to adapt.

No Doubt, Rohit is very special I always had a good feeling about him the first time I saw him bat... The future looks bright, only concern for me is this stupid IPL it will break these amazing talents that are coming our way...

Didnt see his batting .. he is the top scorer for us in the last 3 innings..
congrats anyway :14:

The thing is Kohli and Saha(IPL stars :D) played better cricket!!! IPl is not the problem..our batting giants are done.

They will not play in flat wickets either if the bowling is half decent..Sehwag and Gautam are younger..but sooner Rahul, laxman and Sachin leave..the better for Indian Cricket. They are legends..and they did amazingly well for Indian cricket..but its time to leave!!!!

I agree with that statement after this Aus series. Kohli is indeed more competent batsman. This guy and Yadav to some extent are the only positives for India from the series

Dosent this guy have any sharam? his team is being slaughtered and he celebrates like they have won the series 4-0

Currently the best Indian batsman by quite a margin and probably the best young batsman in the world. If he can get his attitude sorted this guy can become something special. At this time the comparison with Umar Akmal seems quite farfetched.

He looks a very very good player for India -just needs to make him humble (like SRT, Dravid, Laxman)

Congrats

I would say the Fawad Alam of India. Able to get runs, easy runs without many risks.

Was that a complement? Fawad is good and should be given another chance but Kohli's in a different league.

A much better batsmen thany any current pakistani cricket player hands down

Based on what? You can't really say that about him since he has a lot to prove in tests. ODI's maybe he is one the best at the moment but tests he has a long way to go. I would easily put Azhar Ali way ahead of Kohli in tests. ODI's, Akmal and Virat are neck and neck depending on who's opinion it is.

Infact, I would go as far as saying even Asad Shafiq is ahead of Virat in tests. Let's not even get into Younis and Misbah.

Virat Kohli gets the job done in ODIs and so far he is a better player than Akmal! On the other hand, Akmal has that something special in him! An X Factor! He has the ability to destroy bowling attacks! But he has to to justice to his talent and stop playing stupid shots to prove himself!

The last time I checked, Akmal was the MOS and has played really well in ODI's so please stop with your silly comments about him playing stupid shots and start watching Pakistan cricket.

Akmal has the problem of brain farting and you have a problem of not admitting it! I didnt say he is a bad player or anything! Just dont get excited here! I watch every match Pakistan plays and I have witnessed many brain farts from Akmal in the past!

Averages 32 odd in test cricket

ODI average=Virat -47,Akmal-39,neck n neck?:))):)))

as for tests, hes just started n has got a ton in Aus.Let Azhar Ali play in Aus first then we'll talk.he sucked in England

Kohli sucked in in Windies so what shall we say he's worse then Lendell Simmons?

Big Kohli fan though.

UA and Kohli comparision made some sense both are talented. But Azhar Ali.Let him get out of asia and we will see.

How many matches has he played outside of India and what are his averages there?

Kohli after recent performances in Aus will be a permanent member of both Test and ODI sides. He has proved that he can play long innings and sustain pressure in both formats of the game. Umer on the other hand is still struggling to find a spot in a comparatively weaker pakistan test side. At this point Kohli is easily winning the debate with his recent performances in Aus.

The best thing about Kohli is his attitude towards the game, he is keen to learn new things and correct his mistakes. That's what makes a good player great. He has a very bright future, probably is a future captain too.

This guy has some serious talent, his attitude is also seem to be improving. If he can get his act together surely he will be India's next captain.

Kholi plays the pull shot probably better than any young bat currently, his strokeplay looks quite similar to an Australian Bat more than a sub continetal one...

Difference between Kohli and other subcontinental batsmen is he has got wonderful backfoot shots.

so how does it prove kohli is a bad player???even when we got white washed he scored a 100 in both England and Aus..
In fact Kohli now has scored runs in South africa,England and in Australia. Now he can play some tests in India and reap the rewards in form of gallore of runs in home conditions.India should play him at 3 from now on.

Akmal never played in his home country. That is a sad state of affair. Imagine any of your younger cricketers being put in akmals position. Virat gets to pace his innings how he wants. Akmal is being used as a slogger in the last 10 overs.

ya forgot about SA in a pitch were batsmen were struggling to get bat to ball

Ali is the better test cricketer
Kohli is the best ODI cricketer
Azhar Ali at the moment is looking good.good technique but he has to prove himself in Souta africa and Australia.I don't like talking about future but thinks Kohli will surely have a better test career than Azhar Ali.

^ he did an excellent job in England on debut. Kohli may have a better career given home advantages but make no mistake the better test batsmen is Ali - by some distance. He is viciously consistent

UAE has similar conditions as Pak,so how it matters.Kohli has better away record than Akmal's career record anyway.as for position,Akmal is used lower because hes shown that he doesnt hv the temperament to play long innings.anyway his S/R is only marginally better too.

Azhar surely is a fine defensive batsman.but it's his shot making ability that makes Virat a different proposition all together. His 70 odd in Perth was a treat to watch.especially the way he took on the short stuff from Aussie pacers head on.

Boss, How many did Akmal play in the UAE? How many did virat play at home?

Lets not get into positions because India know to be patient with batsmen at the top of the order. Pakistan don't. As for temperament; well if you got 10 overs left (most cases) and the score as trundled along at 4 rrp then obviously he has to bash it around. He knows less about building an innings now then he did when he started. Akmal is a now becoming a product of management ineptness and short sightedness.

Alas Kohli will be the better batsman but at least akmal at one stage looked a better prospect :(

As Boycott said as long as you get them runs. Ali has been in crunch situations and thrived in tests. Kohli may be more pleasing to the eye but if you want to base it on this criteria why not look at Darren Bravo. Temperament and shots.

Kholi THE BEST young talent I have seen since Salman Butt when he started it off...

Are you looking to troll? Salman was never that great. Rather angry with Indians giving mediocre players a long run

:farhat scored his century against them
:malik made merry with your bowlers
:butt loved every second of his opening position when you guys had your new ball bowlers ready to go.

he is only talking about talent.Butt was surely talented, but didnt make use of it wen he didnt play India

Kholi is definitely a very talented player. Hopefully he will continue like that.

Nope not trolling at all, I meant what I said, I saw Salman Butt's debut series vs Mcgrath and Co in Oz, me and my Father we were both a bit Aww struck by his strokeplay,,he was so immensly talented (Amazing wrists),,, its a shame probably the greatest shame everr for Pakistan thatt he didnt pann out...

Younis Khan
Misbah?

your talking like a Kerala

both guys dont know how to chase , but virat is master in that art :akhtar

Everyone say Rohit is talented , but from whatever i had seen Rohit bottle quite regularly unlike kohli

We need to find a couple of good middle order bats like him. I hope Rohit comes good.
Raina looks like has lost it. We should play R Jadeja ahead of him in batting order. Jadeja is better suited for no. 5 than no. 7.

in that case Kholi must be better than Sachin himself
