Boss This kid is an awesome stroke maker.yes he takes some time to get his eye in then he is a fantastic stroke player. have been following this guy from the time he won as junior world cup.i have seen him scoring runs in emerging players tournament in Australia.that knock in the final was an absolute class.A class batsmen for india in the coming days.
 
I am so happy for Kohli that he finally has started scoring runs in tests also , it is a no mean feat to achieve his first ton in australia when the other team mean are absolute rubbish. Bravo! hope to see him scoring a lot in future (not against Pakistan though :P)
 
He is good against both spin and pace,has horizontal bat shots to deal with short stuff,very good temperament,excellent technique,super fit,very studios about his game No way he can fail.
 
Kohli is just following Ponting style I guess. Even the way they bat is somewhat similar. They both start the innings slowly, once set then they accelerate. both are good at pull shot. Ponting's attitude was very similar when he was young, now he has mellowed down. I am sure Kohli will change his attitude as well once he gets into 30s or close to 30.
 
Kohli i think is the best young batting star around the world.Dinesh Chandimal and Darren Bravo are the next in line

Leave the hype though, let alone saying he better than YK or Misbah or whatever.

He is a decent talent, dont make everyone hate him with OTT Indian hype

Absolutely - Class player. One to look out for in future. Very stylish - whether he deliberately copies Lara or not ,he is very similar in stroke play to the master.

Yup. Completely agree. He is just finding his feet at the highest level and it would be in his best interests to leave him alone.

India just CANNOT afford to lose such an youngster due to issues - technical, attitude or other.

Leave him alone and let him develop as a player I would say..
 
As a person, I think Kohli is an arrogant. But he's a class act with the bat and has a huge future ahead of him. And hopefully he'll sort out his personality issues as he grows older.

His odi record is already phenomenal. I hope he does the same in tests.

Poor Umar Akmal can't even get a game while Kohli has already become to backbone of Indian batting. Pathetic shallow thinking by Misbah, no foresight whatsoever, fighting for his friends without a care for the future.

Dear Friend in Asian conditions most of the indian batsmen plays better innings than this one from Younis regularly.I only rate an asian batsmen based on their overseas performance

Mate , you are seriously overrating Kohli. He is just 23. YK may not be a batting legend but he is a proven world class performer in tests.
I hope Kohli comes good but as an example do you know even Sanjay Majerekar scored a century in his Debut series in WI against WI attack of 80s. Later when India toured Pakistan , he was the reason we drew that Series. 2Ws+imran couldn't get him out.
And after that we all know he ended. So its a long journey before we can say he is better than YK.

Younis is a good test player no doubt... I just feel kohli will turn out to be better..Sanjay's carrer was mostly cut short because he failed in ODIS from 96 onwards..and Dravid and Ganguly grabbed the chance they got with both hands at that time...

Even I thought Kohli was one overhyped player and thought he would get found out in Australia.. from what i saw in the 3rd test at perth the innings he played shows the talent and the class he has I guess he will become the next best batsmen India has produced after Sachin Talent wise...

Only a blind fool would compare him to Yk in tests. If you do then Azhar Ali is the next Dravid

Mate even if our so called dinosaurs go we need not worry about our batting we have plenty of talent in that department who might be able to fill in their boots..

What if they took wickets even bangladesh got you all out so that doesn't mean nada...

Yeah Pakistan has a lot of batting talent waiting in the wings but Indians dont have. I have got your point.
 
Pakistan is playing well b'cause they are playing in familiar conditions.we all know how poor English are on spinning conditions.Lankans are also very fragile now against spinners.look how Ashwin and doeharty now performed against them.In SA even pietersen troubled them.Pakistan has got great spinner in Ajmal.apart from that i think Pakistan's batting will crumble against any decent seam attack on foreign conditions.I think Indians as they always do don't know how to exit gracefully.with ageing catching them their reflexes have slowened up and we are seeing the effect.but on spinning conditions they still will be giants scoring truck load of runs.see from now on-wards Indians are also gonna play in spinning conditions for more than a year.I can say that they will demolish all the visiting teams.

dont think so. they always try to win the first game and then they start relaxing by going for dead flat wickets, score 600+ runs and draw the matches.

There's plenty of batting talent in India. Wouldn't worry about that at all. As I've said before it isn't that India can't bat out of the subcontinent, they've done it before, it's that their main batsmen are either too old and getting on, or they're out of form (except for maybe Sehwag who despite early on his career with a couple of away knocks, doesn't regularly perform out of the subcontinent any more). Plus India's openers are still youngish so will play for a good couple more years. Always easier in my opinion to replace batsmen down the order than finding new openers.

Bowling as it is at the moment is still a worry. Time is running out for Zaheer, he ain't going to be there forever, and India need to try people and devise a plan to replace him when he indeed does retire. Persisting with the likes of Sharma, Sreesanth, Vinay Kumar isn't going to solve anything. Spinners are good, particularly Ashwin who I think will be a solid replacement for Harbhajan.

Agree with whatever you said.

Laxman is over and must go.Dravid had just had a wonderful year so i dont think he is past it.Out of form yes.Tendulkar doesnt look slow or out of form.

I think Yadav may be a good find for India and Aaron may come good in future.There are a few others in domestic cricket who may come good.
 
Did he ever get punished for arguing with the umpire/ threatening the spectators?

I really like kohli as a batsman but comparing him with yk is not good.although u can definitely compare him with u.akmal.both are superb batsmen and it will be interesting to see that who will be more successful.i personally think that kohli will score more runs but u.akmal will play a lot more match winning innings than him.all in all if both fulfill their potential then there is no doubt that they will became legends of the game.

I think in the last two matches he played some gorgeous shots but straight to fielders.should try to hit them in the gap otherwise of frustration will take unwanted risks and will perish as was the case against Australia on sunday.
 
younis khan - 6 centuries in 237 odis......kohli- 8 in 80 matches.....n kohli is only 23...younis will need two lifetimes to be half as good as kohli....
 
Honestly Kohli is making it really hard to root for him. I was willing to ignore his attitude because he's young and talented but he's making a fool of himself out there. What the hell was he doing? He acted like he hadn't edged it! Some of the Indian seniors really need to talk some sense into him. He's going to go down like a ton of bricks if he doesn't improve his attitude.
 
I dont understand the problem with pakistanis. They cant produce a batsman who can be selected in bangladesh side, but will compair kohli with some of the jokers like misbah. This is the same steve finn who was tonked to all parts by kohli . Now the same bowler is humiliating pakistan in their home conditions. Dont be so dumb in comparisons. Misbah is a Match-loser, kohli is the brightest match winner in world cricket right now.

I've never thought of YK as an ODI bat. He is however a world class test batsman. Kohli has flattered to deceive in tests.

Tests > ODI.

As far as i recall, he is a toned up version of ponting..And at this age he is a far better batsman than what ponting was back then...So i dont think any body needs to worry...this guy is gonna rock.

As far as ODI is concerned , Kohli and yk have the relation of master and slave..i.e kohli owns yk even when hes just 23 years old....Coming on to test matches..when did yk score a century against aus..??....NEVER...and never will..........rest is obvious i guess..

Everyone knows YK is a poor ODI player. There is a 8 page thread where 90% of the people are asking for his retirement from ODIs. So it is pointless to compare him with Kohli. I doubt you actually care, keep trolling.

Ponting never had such a child-like immature attitude. He might have been arrogant but Kohli takes it to another level with his tantrums and swearing and abusing fans. Needs to attend a few anger management classes because once he has a slump in form he might just implode and never be able to come back.

How can you be a perfectionist at your craft (something every aus player says about him) and be arrogant at the same time. Perhaps his body language gives that impression but Ricky always relied on sheer practice- perfect practice for a perfect game. See what Chappel writes about his early days.

We are not talking bout abilities or work rate, offcourse Ricky was a hard worker, his success is not only cause of the talent, but in his early days, he was involved in couple of incidents, cause of his attitude. Ricky is an absolute gem of a batsman but still not someone who is known for "good attitude", it keeps popping up every now and then.

But he was told in team meetings to be confrontational. It's a tactic. They are ordered to do it and ricky being a jnr would have had no say in the matter. Perhaps me and you have a different view on what we consider arrogant. There's a fine line so its understandable I guess. :)
