How come this Davon Smith guy makes the WIN squad at 36+, with an average of 24, after 38 Tests? And, he is probably taking Hetmayer's spot, for being a nothing opener.
I would be really interested in knowing the viewership numbers for this test series.. Can anyone provide a link or numbers?
SRL has a population of like 23mn, WIN probably 2.3 - net net less than the Metro City you live or I used to live; from that you can imagine the number![]()
But, I am following it via CI, because, first love dies hard - as a kid, growing in AUS almost every summer I heard about Viv, Mike, GG, Lloyd, Marshall ......... it still chimes in ear.
I feel, cricket's particularly Test cricket's biggest adversary is ICC it self.
Today, SRL bowled 84 overs in 6:35 hours, with 32 of those by 2 spinners; 4 No balls, 2 wides in total; when they were supposed to finish it in 5:35 hours. Over a 5 day period we are risking a full session lost, that too after 150 minutes extra.
And, we know, there will be absolutely no repercussion - match referee with chop some match fee and may be little demerit points for Chandimal.
Dead pitch, this is what's killing test cricket.
Yaar, Hetmyer ko phir drop kar diya. For a 38 year old...
West Indies has become most unattractive place to play cricket. Wkts with no bounce and carry, slow outfielder. Nothing much for bowlers and no fun for batsmen either. Not to mention the rubbish home team.

Sri Lanka in dire straits at 43-4.
Makes you frustrated we lost to this lot...
West Indies should declare . They have more than enough runs. If they declare now, Lankans will be confused with what approach to take. Whereas if they delay a declaration, Sri Lanka will just play for the draw.

Bishoo is mediocre, doesn't bowl with sufficient control and lacks the speed through the air of a Yasir Shah. How can you average 36 with the ball given he plays at home on these slow, turning WI wickets.West Indies have invested a lot in Bishoo and I think he has been poor for a while.
I think Mendis opening is a stop gap - Karunaratne got injured before the series.Hathurasingha had moved Mominul from #4 to 3 and he struggled there (before the series vs SL on a flat pitch) and he's now moved Mendis from #3 to opening. Poor decision. Mendis is SL's best batter (along with Chandimal) and they ought to bat 3 and 4. Matthews makes a good 5.
