What's new

West Indies v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Bridgetown, Barbados | Apr 30-May 4, 2017 | Day 5

Holder will keep things tight. I wouldn't mind Chase bowling since we're generally good against spin. Sweep Bishoo too.

I hope it doesn't come down to Shafiq and Sarfaraz. If those two are at the crease then I'll begin to get nervous.

Till that time it is just another day in the office..

IT'S HAPPENING BOYS, IT'S HAPPENING

Look at that perfect placement :shezzy

We just got to keep wickets intact, look for the singles and try and put the bad balls away.

Windies heads will drop and run making should get easier.

Keeping wickets is the key

I know I might roasted for this here but Shehzad is a better test batsman than Babar at the moment....

This aspect of the game Pakistan has to work batting 4th, we always have difecutly batting last. One of the reason we hardly see any draw lately. We simply collapse and loose the test match , I know it's diffecult to bat last. Somehow I have a feeling it's something physiologically we need to overcome. If somebody can get some stats on this

Pakistan team management should complain about no balls not called. This is just ridiculous

This is not going to be easy. The ball is keeping low, moving of the seam after hitting certain areas of the pitch and the spinners are yet to come on.

They need to put the bad balls away, blocking continuously here is a recipe for disaster.

Lol what were people expecting that somehow or the other we'll champion this chase ?? :)) :))

I've been watching cricket for 17/18 years now and trust me this is how it goes....ALWAYS !!

Oh yeah, I forgot these are the same players who were playing in the 90's.

How silly of me.

Nothing to suggest in recent history that these players can cope 4th innings chases. It was another team which saved the game against Steyn and Morkel on 2 successive occasions. It must be some other team who chased down 300 in 2 sessions. It must be some other team who chased 380 with only 2 wickets down. And I'm sure it was another team which came touching distance of chasing down 490.

I think he's stating that defensive cricket in low scores will lead to pressure and wickets, whereas 'chasing' games in high scores leads to attacking cricket and pressure on opposition bowlers.

Don't what will happen after Younis and Misbah leave

Noticed that Azhar Ali can improve on this, excellent record by Younis Khan but that we aready knew, Misbah and Shafiq also very decent so definetly to we need to work on this especialy when Younis and Misbah is gone the gap will be massive!

Time for YK to stand up and deliver a match winning performance by scripting this runchase, will make his farewell even more sweet and memorable, he has a phenomenal batting record in second innings, time to prove it yet again.

Asad will surely have to bat up the order , need to bring the likes of Fawad Alam , Haris Sohail and Usman Salahuddin in the team

Your last example is a moot one since we lost that game so the objective of 'saving' or winning was lost. The end result matters therefore we cannot put it under the column of achieved goals.

Which leaves us with your three examples that you have quoted for a team that has been playing for 7 years :14: :14: Mashallah Nazar Na Lagay Aisay record ko !!

Holder gets more varied bounce of all the windies bowlers , this could be a deciding factor

Big wicket.

Crap review though. Totally plumb. Surely Shehzad has to tell him there no point reviewing.

Bridgetown 2017........

Let's add this one to the list of nightmares we've had over the years as well !!

Azhar Ali got out playing the brand people were demanding here. You have to respect the conditions and opppsition and play accordingly. Golden rule of Test cricket is that it gets easier the longer you stay.

There is no pressure of RR here.

The most hilarious bit is that amidst all this carnage.....Somehow or the other....Shehzad is still at the crease :))) :)))

Just one partnership, if this pair can see it through till lunch then around an hour after that. Bowlers will tire and heads will drop

Those are the examples that I remember from the top of my head. How about you prove your point and show examples of when this Team has failed in 4th innings?

Knew that holder will be the most dangerous bowler on this 5th day pitch. Time for rain dance maybe?

YK Test average copping a major blow at the fag end of his career, how unfortunate. Furthermore, he yet again proves that he's a one innings wonder, time and again we've seen him scoring heavily in one innings to boost his average while goes missing in rest of series.

Pakistan better hope they win the toss in the next game and make west indies bat on a Day 5 wicket in the 4th innings. Otherwise the dream of winning a test series in the Carribean will remain a dream.

Shehzad gets a lot of flak, and deservedly so (IMO), but he does have the ability to dead bat it for a while. Thats all these two need to do till lunch.

Anyone remember all those idiot fans from Day 3 complaining about Misbah's batting?

Reality is, we knew the pitch was going to get more difficult. We bowled them out within a day. We should have got ourselves minimum 150 run lead, given the position we were at. All in all, the match was not lost today but in reality on day 3 and 4 with some poor batting and bowling until the last session.

If the ATG toured the WI only for his milestone, he should have informed the PCB beforehand so that they could have sent him home after the first Test. Nonetheless, the legend has failed in 17 out of 21 innings outside Asia since 2016.

Shafiq, Babar, Younis and Sarfraz are match key mujirm if we lose this.

Time to join the wrist slitters club while there is still space in the room.

Don't worry guys. Shahzad is about to prove why he deserves to be in "the greatest players of spin" thread

This. A partnership is all we need. I know we 'bat deeper' with Shadab but on this pitch it'll be difficult for him. If Shehzad can stay around then I'll commend him for his fighting spirit and not letting the dropped chances get to his head. A couple of half centuries and we should be home.

Pete Rose and JibranAnsari are on vacation today, that means room for two people opened up in the wrist-slitters room.

If Shehzad can somehow steer Pakistan to victory here, PPers will cry like hungry babies.

Allah mian please save Misbah, take Shehzad instead :59:

oops Misbah couldn't be shielded away from the new ball this time.

Lmao we love a 5th day choke.

Might as well just play your shots lads. Try and transfer the pressure.

the pathetic approach in the first innings coming back to haunt us.

Ok....****got real.

But still have faith in Shafiq and Sarfraz. Its a question of one partnership to kill the game.

:13: some 'fans' only support the team as long as Misbah is yet to bat or currently in the middle.. hmmmmm some fans.

How disappointing that YK had to work his socks off to preserve his Test average in mid 50's for the last two years, only for all his efforts to go to waste by the time this series finishes - which happens to be his last one - unless he pulls off a daddy hundred in the final game of his career to resurrect his depleting average and leave on high.

Shafiq about to debunk that pressure thread of his for the umpteenth time.

We got this lads.

Won't be surprised if WI win this. If they can beat Pakistan in UAE, they can do the same here.
