What's new

South Africa (138 & 285/5) defeat Australia (212 & 207) by 5 wickets in the final to clinch the World Test Championship 2023/25 title

If Green is not going to bowl, what is he doing in team? I am sure there are better number 3 batters in Aus.

I hope South Africa wins this one. They deserve something in their cabinet

Aus has won alot and it isnt exciting when teams like aus csk mi etc wins who have won alot in respective areas

Sa got lucky with pitch flattening out by day 3, if they botch this they will be biggest chokers in entire sports history. Maybe football has better chokers but theyre right up at the top.

awesome counterattacking knock from Markram. But Aus could still find a way back with just 1 wicket.

Need a quick wicket or two here to induce panic in SA's batting, otherwise, they are cruising to victory atm.

Havent seen this webster guy alot but someone said he is better than stokes. He is colin de grandhome level bowler at the moment.

What time cut off today?

Might as well extend to finish if both Temba and Markram are there

Cummins is very lucky that the last day of the 4th ashes test was rained off and that England blundered by selecting a one dimensional bowling attach for the first test due to which they lost from a match winning position, Cummins would have lost that ashes otherwise.

This Chase now gone in choking terortity. From now on anytime South Africa can chokes.

They needs 99 runs and Lyon is bowling well. :kp

A 4th seamer must have some wicket taking ability and punch with the ball.
That is only if you pick a regular 4th seamer , not an alrounder who usually helps share the workload while keeping it tight.

In hindsight, both teams should have maybe selected another proper seamer instead of Lyon/Maharaj

Lol Aussies have brought Head here...what they do think someone will do pant here for them...mistaken

Markram was the one who won them the U19 World Cup. He isn’t one of those typical choker s

South Africa winning would actually shut up a lot of people who felt that SA were chasing money by prioritising SA20 and second string sides to NZ and are only playing 2 match Test series etc.

They're proof that you can still be a champion Test side without playing millions of loss making Tests and by correctly investing in white ball cricket to ensure that they have enough incentives for people to even take up the sport in the first place

lol the aussies thought that this would be a cakewalk, they clearly did not take this test seriously. If they did would Cricket Australia have allowed the likes of Starc, Cummins and Hazelwood to burn themselves out in the IPL before an all important World Test Championship Final?

Such a huge difference it makes.

In WT2024 Miller let the situation sink under pressure. Then he chocked.

South Africa are doing really well here and ideally these two will need to chase this down so no pressure situation arises. That's where people who choke, choke. Under Pressure.

And with my blessing

Wonder what Qunnie "globe trotter" De Kock is feeling whilst his nation are on the verge of their biggest win in decades he's playing in meaningless T20 games collecting a buck.

Still feel it's a shame that he has decided to retire from this SA team in his prime, he still has so much to offer especially in test cricket

Australia should be worried about the replacements for Steve Smith, Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins and Lyon. Not sure if there are any ready replacements. This aging trio will get the job done against most mediocre opponents at home but they don't have much mileage left.

I can picture Bhumrah at his best taking the pitch completely out of the equation here.

QDK first 21 Tests - average 49

Next 33 Tests - average 33

Don't think he is missed in this lineup

Even SA can't mess this up. Likely a matchwinning partnership. Easier conditions yes but they've learned from the 1st innings when they were far too passive.

Markram is one of those batters who doesnt score anything for 10 innings then plays the occasional brilliant knock
seems to be one of those rare saffers who thrives under pressure
made 93 in that very tense one wicket win against us in the WC and made a century on that cape town minefield vs India even though they lost that one

It was looking like Jansen had dropped the cup yesterday, but turns out, Smith ended up doing that today.

Yes.

I don't know why Smith was wearing a helmet at first slip. Maybe that played a factor.

I have never seen any slip fielder wearing a helmet before.

Now comes Bavuma. @jeeteshssaxena Your reputation is on the line

A lesson for you and @Rana, hitting 5 sixes in t20 leagues doesn’t make you a quality batsman.

Temba has limited talent but in the last few years he has got the best out of it. Thats what I and some ither poster was trying to tell you when you called Bavuma a walking wicket in test despite amazing returns in the recent past.

Bavuma has kicked the arrogance out of your ‘Head’ and now you are kneeling in front of him.

Now go and watch your Finn Allens and Aither t20 mercenaries hit sixes in Bermuda T20 league, maybe that will give you some much needed validation.

Btw, Rizwan > Carey in tests, and it will continue that way. Chal nikal

He was fielding closer to the batsmen (closer than the keeper too), so was taking precaution incase the ball went flying and smacked him in the face.

Good innings on the flattest of pitches where starc scored 50+ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

This is more so do with KP's goat analysis rather then bavuma.

Sa got lucky at the toss anw choose to bowl as Aus wanted to do the same thing.

Wtc was toss dependant and SA won it. I dont mind as SA has been so unlucky they deserved something to go their way.

But no credit to bavuma, none, got dropped against smith had the easiest pitch to bat on.

Hes rubbish. Only you can hype 37 and 35 averaging bavuma's and Shastri's

Never hyped Shastri, i think you are confusing him with Head ka Papa Sidhu.

Raa boy manz getting full on emotional about Bavuma as if he is Jay Z and Bavuma is his beyonce
