Arsenal FC | 2023/24 Season

2-0 so far, need to keep boasting goal difference. Liverpool will hammer sheff utd tomorrow.

Arsenal need to be ruthless tonight

Rested players. Got the win. Onto the next one.

Brighton are hit and miss this season but one thing they will do is give chances. As long as we are clinical I feel it will be comfortable.

Didn't expect to see Jesus today. 2 games a week after a knee injury is risky but would have been ideal to get himself back in form.

I am a big Partey fan. He gives something different to Rice. The passing between the lines is really effective. A midfield 3 of him Rice and Odegaard would be impressive.

Ben White again was brilliant. Best RB in the league this season.

Defense has been rightfully getting a lot of praise but shout out Raya. Outright most clean sheets this season having played less games than most keepers. . I mean it helps with 2 rocks in front of you but still. Well done to him. Hope it stays like this.

I caught Newcastle Everton game during halftime of spurs game.

I saw the penalty Newcastle gave and chuckled to myself remembering @Amjid Javed and @Geordie Ahmed debate over the last couple of days
Brother, that was absolutely moronic from Dummett

He was crap 6 years ago never mind now but double ACL injury to CB's combined either full backs being injured meant we had no alternative

What WWE move was being attempted here? Like I said every game Newcastle use rugby / WWE / Aussie rules tactics

🤫🤫🤫

It's a foul and a blatant penalty, unlike you I don't cry about decisions, I accept them and move on

I assume you watched the game? We battered them and only had ourselves to blame for firstly not taking our chances and secondly gifting them a penalty

See, admitting the faults of your team isn't difficult, you should try it instead of being a hypocrite:)

Arsenal were in first gear and got the win with a clean sheet. Good key minutes for Partey etc.

It’s clear the overall squad needs better depth though - Nelson and Nketiah were poor. Surprised Viera didn’t get any minutes.

Onto the next match. Game by game we go.

'WE LEARNED A LOT' - JORGINHO SAYS ARSENAL MOTIVATED BY LAST SEASON'S TITLE SETBACK, DISCUSSES LEANING BSL

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho believes the experience of missing out on the Premier League title last season could actually help the Gunners in pursuit of glory this season.

Despite leading the table for an impressive 248 days of the campaign last time out, Arsenal faltered in the final months and ultimately finished second to treble-winning Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's side are in the hunt once again this time around and with eight matches to play, sit second, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

The Gunners have propelled themselves into the title picture with a run of nine wins in their last 10 matches, with their only dropped points coming in a recent hard-fought draw at City.

Jorginho, speaking to TNT Sports 'Sign Up - Into Football', where he also discussed learning British Sign Language (BSL), said his team-mates can use current form and the motivation of last season to get over the line this time around.

"We need to keep doing what we are doing because we truly believe we are in the right path, and we just need to keep pushing because it’s the right thing to do," said the 32-year-old.

"I think the experience we had last season, in different matches, and the group working together another year - it’s another year of experience. We learned a lot from last season, in games and managing certain things during games.

"Experience from what happened is helping a lot, and new players coming in as well. It’s all things that have been helping."

The Italy international also had words of praise for manager Arteta, stating: "I think [his biggest strength] how much he works on details, and of course his passion, and how much he cares about everyone, the club and trying to make everyone better."

Jorginho joined Arsenal in January of 2023 after a successful spell at London rivals Chelsea, who he helped to Champions League success in 2021.

The midfielder was also part of the Italy squad who won the European Championships that same year, leading him to being nominated for the Ballon d'Or.

Jorginho revealed that this prompted him to learn BSL as preparation, in case he would need to make a speech to reach the widest possible audience.

As the only known player to have learned sign language, Jorginho has earned the plaudits of the deaf community.

His studies have also led to him featuring in a matchday video at Arsenal, welcoming fans in BSL, something he is extremely proud of.

"So it started when I was in the awards for the Ballon d'Or," he revealed. "And my agent to be fair, he came with this idea.

He was like, 'we don’t know what’s going to happen, but IF it happens, I think you could do something special, you know? Something that nobody has ever done before.'

"And it started from there, about a speech, if it would be an award, and I said, 'Oh okay, that’s cool, I never thought about it' and then I thought, 'Yes! Let's do it!' and then I started my lessons.

"I started learning more about the community and the difficulties they have and it really touched me.

"I felt I could try and help somehow, so that’s why I started learning, and I felt good because I love learning, and I found it quite fun as well to learn something different."

He also added that recognition from the deaf community "just motivates more to learn more and push to try and involve them even more, and help more. I feel really grateful".

Arsenal goes back to the top of the premier league after a comfortable 3-0 win over Brighton.

We are a damn good team now aren't we.

3-0 away against Brighton is a great result.

All done while looking like we were not even going full pelt. Excellent.

Havertz the stand out. Good cameos by the subs.

Professional performance.

The cry baby was the worst player on the pitch and was substituted 70 minutes to late. Pathetic. I don't think he did anything good. It's a great achievement to consistently be so useless.

Anyway forget him. On to Bayern.

To add to the above.. Brighton have not lost at home since August.

Credit to this bunch of players and manager. Keep it up still the hard part to go

Fantastic performance and result for Arsenal, fully deserved that win

Though was interesting to see Ben White indulge in some WWE style play acting 😉

Superb performance from Arsenal against a Brighton side that hasn’t lost at home for over six months.

Brighton have been a bogey team for us in recent years, so glad to see us win this game.

Next, we might as well say: “let’s accept Havertz’s mediocrity with humility”.

Any Arsenal fan who doesn’t declare war on Havertz isn’t really an Arsenal fan in my eyes.
Beautiful. :klopp

Don't see point of calling out opinions of the past.

I'd happily be called out for having zero ball knowledge and not knowing what offside was. If at the end of it all Arsenal achieved a major. I couldn't care less if I was wrong about someone or something I posted on a forum.

Forget that I'm parading in north London mate, come the End of May wearing a t shirt that says I was wrong on PP about Havertz.

“Kiwior should play ahead of Zinchenko”

🤡

@topspin

He is better than mediocre, generic injury prone Tierney who offers nothing in attack.

To say that Arteta made a mistake by preferring Zinchenko is absolute nonsense.

I can see the pain and disappointment in your words. Also another bonus for today:

“Zinchenko cannot defend” 🤡

This is what zero ball knowledge looks like. I told you from the beginning that Kiwior was superior to Zinchenko as a LB.

0% ball knowledge.

Just a kind reminder that your gems have not been forgotten. The question is which one takes the cake? It has to be the second one. What do you think?

A certain person on how here would tell you that your not allowed to celebrate and you don't deserve to celebrate titles.

What a performance by Arsenal against Brighton. Mind, Brighton have not lost since August and their record against top 6 is outstanding.

To come away with 3 goals, and a clean sheet is brilliant. 10/10 coaching from Arteta. Defensively we look incredible. We can play wide range of football, low block, high pressing, long balls, set-pieces etc.

I don't know why people keep writing them off and saying it's a 2 horse race between Liverpool and Man City.

Arsenal have been fantastic, the squad depth is there and don't be surprised if they win the League.

Good weekend for Arsenal. Lots of twists yet. Liverpool winless run against the big sides continues. Only beat Chelsea this season. Less said about Chelsea the better.

They have 3 away games in a row and Europa league sandwiched in between soon. Won't be easy.

Whoever wins in the end deserves full credit. Hopefully it's Arsenal

City look ominous and spurs away is the only danger to them.

It's mainly arrogant Liverpool fans who think it's a 2 Horse race cos they've been bridesmaids several times.

Most Arrogant liverpool fans were saying Arsenal bottled it at eithad by not winning, same fans now dissapear.

Liverpool fans only act like these when they feel threatened and have no answers

Yea they have a special set of fans. Whinge the most.

I don't want city to dominate the league but Liverpool fans make it so difficult to want them to win it if we fall short.

United are a total mess

I can’t understand how they can spend SO MUCH money and play like a mid table side! Actually, a mid table side will be more organised and compact at the back in comparison to United. They were shockingly poor at home. I’ve never seen them look this rubbish, they were very lucky to pull off the draw

Its the Glazers fault mate 😂

Even their Desert Vipers team was absolute trash in the UAE league

They have no idea on how to spend money. Anyone can rip them off
It was a tongue in cheek comment. They are just such a poor team who live off moments.

You sustain pressure and a game plan on them they will inevitably crumble.

Arsenal still have to go to OT, as bad as they are Arsenal have lost some poor games there in last few seasons.

That will have to change this season.

Great result for us at OT yesterday.
Now it's back in our hands.

As always, we take one game at a time... don't look ahead of the next game which is Bayern Munich...

Vieira, nketitah and Nelson will all be gone in summer. That money can be used towards better players

No shock that the only Zinchenko cheer leader I'd still defending him, he was awful on Saturday again. Playing him vs Bayern would be asking for trouble.

Kiwor or Tomiyasu need to come back.

If Arsenal defend well in two legs, they will have a good chance of beating Bayern.

Agree. Zinchenko is a complete liabilty, the sooner you get Timber back the better.

Talking of the loser Zinchenko - anybody see him going on about fighting for Ukraine again in an interview. Honestly give it a rest.
Serge Aurier of all people put him in his place and I loved it.

The worst thing Is as a club Arsenal will just let Zinchenko run his mouth in such situations.

We saw both ozil and elneny censored when they have brought up region and politics before.

I fully understand the most sports teams will say regious and politics shouldn't be brought up.

But Arsenal as a club sadly pick and choose depending on what impact it has on sponsors etc.

It's not 1st time Zinchenko the clown has done this. Yes it's not the club's opinion. But just double standard behaviour.

Yeah i hate that about Arsenal. Its not just Arsenal a lot of clubs have double standards. Saw clips of Palestine flags being taken off someone at Anfield. There have been numerous incidents like this across grounds. Its the way it is unfortunately.

I mean if we win the league I will be going mad crazy celebrating, however one thing that is really really going to ruin it for me is this clown crying with the PL trophy with the Ukraine flag draped around the trophy.🤮🤮🤮

100% a lot of clubs do it, only reason ozil got censored is because China said they would refuse to televise at Arsenal PL games.

Even pathetic fan channels like AFTV do the same, removed a fan from show due to him having a Palestine flag in background on fan cam. Yet they want BLM and other things to be promoted.

Sadly this is todays society, everything done for most clicks and money.

The sooner Zinchenko who now should be 4th choice LB is got rid of the better.

A lot of underwhelming players in squad need to be moved on Zinchenko, nketitah, Nelson, Vieira, Jesus. If Arsenal want to stay competitive you have to be ruthless.

Last season to many of Arteta favourites were kept in team when it was being detrimental to team results in last 10 PL games of season.

It seems to an extent that's one lesson Arteta has improved on, seems to be less Arrogance, less ego and more flexibility currently. Managers and players should never get to big for their boots until they have achieved something.

That's something Thierry Henry learnt at Arsenal and Barca when he joined, same goes for current players and manager.

Let poor Arsenal have their moment of joy. Watching the mighty Liverpool draw is the most joyful they can ever imagine being. These sad people forget that they have to visit Old Trafford soon as well as Spurs who will be doing them no favours. I look forward to rubbing more Arsenal noses on the ground here. Their greatest achievement is Wenger winning the EPL three times in twenty two years or something!! 😪 😪

Good on Serge Aurier for saying it how it is. Everyone can see through Zinchenko for what he is. I'm sure Arsenal have had enough of him and realise that not only is he a League Two standard defender but he's a toxic individual who needs to be kicked out as soon as the Summer Transfer Window commences.

Zinchenko and his sole cheerleader here deserve this humiliation.

Not on my watch though. You have said it on record that Arteta is a clueless fraud. You have said it on record that Arsenal will never anything with him and you have also said on record that he should be sacked and replaced with a manager who has winning mentality.

I will not allow you to take a U-turn on Arteta. You rode your agenda and you have to die by it. You will drown in your own sea of old posts.

We are the better team but this is UCL and certain teams just rise to the occasion. Like Seville in the Europa league every year.

I think we should aim for a 2 goal advantage. Good thing is that the away goal rule no longer applies even if Bayern do score.

I assume there will be a couple of changes. Partey for Jorginho as he looked knackered at the end of Brighton game. Jesus cant play 2 games a week after his knee Injury so I assume Martinelli will come back.

I think it'll be something like this.

Raya, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomy, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Martinelli, Havertz, Saka

Bench should be strong to

Kane to get a rousing welcome :p Woolwich have been Bayern's whipping boys in the CL of late but tables have turned and are favourites in progressing on this occasion.

I smell a Spud?

You speak the truth however that was a while ago. Lets see if we are any different now

Should be a good game but I’ll be mostly watching Real v City. Bayern are very dodgy at the back . Arsenal should win this leg but don’t have CL pedigree, have never won this competition.

My prediction 2-2

I wouldn’t be too excited . Arteta has still sits in front of an empty trophy cabinet.

Is there a prediction for tonight’s CL game ?

FA Cup. Arteta was manager when we last won it. Factual information. Just for the record.

I reckon a 2-0 will be nice. You going for a draw aren't you?

I’ve explained the FA cup, we’ll agree to disagree, it’s a memory for you .

Bayern still have incredible attacking assets . Arsenal have been solid at the back but at home will need to score goals .

2-2

I would prefer Arsenal to go through & city too , helps Liverpool in a small way .

So are we cautiously optimistic?
Bayern even though they are not as strong as before, still have CL pedigree and experience.

We saw how difficult Porto made it for Arsenal.

Yes Arsenal can progress, but this will not be easy.

Bayern on paper are just as strong as what they were before.

The problem is Tuchel. He’s destroyed this team with his toothless tactics and team selections.

I do think Bayern will give everything they have as this is the tournament that they’ve got left to fight for. But it would be a surprise if Arsenal were to get knocked out by them because they’re the favourites to go through.

This has a 0-1 Tuchel masterclass written all over it.. Hopefully not 🙏🏻

Arsenal should score min 1 goal . Bayern concede almost everytime away from home . Can Arsenal get a two goal advantage is the question? Because I think theyll need it .

Harry Kane is in fine scoring home , a hat trick would be hilarious.

Sorry Arsenal boys, seems we won't go past Bayern

#o ye of little faith in me today

This is what zero ball knowledge looks like. I told you from the beginning that Kiwior was superior to Zinchenko as a LB.
0% ball knowledge confirmed again.

It is a myth that Kiwior is a better LB than Zinchenko. Sane tore him a new one and if it was Zinchenko, you would be spamming this thread and jumping up and down with joy.

Kiwior is an average defender who offers nothing on the ball. He is at best a backup who should not be starting in a UCL quarterfinal vs Bayern or playing ahead of Zinchenko.

Zinchenko is a circumspect defender especially in 1v1 situations but he offers a lot on the ball and helps Arsenal build from the back.

The real problem was Timber’s injury. He offers the same ability on the ball as Zinchenko but he is a much better defender than both him and Kiwior and his injury really ruined Arteta’s plans for LB.

I hope all the deluded Arsenal fans who want to hang Zinchenko enjoyed Sane humiliating the Polish Maldini.

2 Very poor goals given away and could easily have been 3. Defensively poor so far, no real grip in midfield so far.

Getting punished so far by a experienced CL side here..

Bayerns front three can tear any team apart and Arsenal being naive with space been left in between CBs and Full backs. Pretty much every team left in CL is technically on a par with Arsenal or better. The sloppiness with ball by Arsenal tonight has been punished. We saw Porto do similar in terms of creatiom, difference is they didn't have a world class front 3.

Some technical and tactical changes needed at HT. Otherwise, Bayern will pick Arsenal off again.

This is reminding me of how Arsenal played vs man city last season at Emirates in 1-3 defeat. Arsenal trying to force the ball and passes.

Arsenal been very naive. Handed it to Bayern tbh.

Playing a bit excited I think. And as I type this Zinchenko comes on. Sigh. Sane going to be licking his lips

I was going to say before. Need to use Mattinelli. To much emphasis on our right with saka

He has already done his fair share of licking by exposing @topspin ’s best left back in the world 🤣

Zinchenko inverting should help Arsenal. They need more control in the middle.

0% ball knowledge confirmed again.

Arteta and the rest of this group sees it differently.

What are you talking about? Kiwior has more goal contributions for Arsenal in the PL despite having played two thirds of the total games that Zinchenko has played.

Kiwior has been poor but your beloved Zinchenko is the 3rd choice LB because he's just trash and you know it.

Also, you're contradicting yourself. Last month, you acknowledged that the Ukranian was no longer good enough to play for Arsenal and needed to be sold in the summer. Just goes to show you pretend to be an expert on football.

You don’t know anything about football but I thought you could comprehend basic English, however, I have to reconsider that now.

Zinchenko was a major driving force behind Arsenal leveling up from a top four contender to title contender. He has great contributions for Arsenal and he should be recognized for it.

However, Arsenal have also signed Timber who is better than him so if a club offers a good price for Zinchenko, why won’t you sell him?

Any player that is not a guaranteed starter for 2024/25 can be sold for the right price.
