Arsenal FC | 2024/25 Season

Why did Rice need to be given benefit of the doubt? By the current laws of the game its a yellow card.

If you look at rice actions he look towards the ball then flicks it away, it's naivety and stupidity. Let's not play the victim here.

Trossard 1st yellow, was a foul all day long. So again let's not start this victim mentality. It's Trossard stupidity that he got booked on that incident.
Because earlier in the game another player was given the benefit of doubt. His would have been a yellow and less impactful on the game if given yet the ref decided to implement the rule on a player who was already on a yellow.

Similar to Trossard when a Man City did it earlier in the game.

Rules are rules yes - As you say letter of the law etc but the issue is more with the refs actions for one incident and the lack of for the other. Rice was a victim on inconsistency so victim mentality on this occasion is justified in my opinion whether rice was stupid or whatever.

I mean since then its not as though we have been amazing but looking at those incidents in isolation - they were odd but not the reason for why we are in the situation we are in as we have had time to recover from those in other games.

@topspin

Yeah I 100% agree the referees are inconsistent and incompetent. A Liverpool player should have got a 2nd yellow for kicking ball away as well.

But it still doesn't take away from the fact the Arsenal players were rightly yellow carded. Let's not pretend our players shouldn't have been booked for sheer stupidity. Arteta is happy this season to use all the dark art tricks, yet when our players get caught over it, we start playing the victim card.

In regards to trossard, people keep crying about his 2nd yellow for kicking ball away, he could have easily have been sent off for the stupid foul where he jumped into the city player with no intention of getting the ball, in an area of the pitch that was no harm to Arsenal.

The team has been useless this season yet most fans want to roll out excuses and red cards. Rather than focusing on **** recruitment and a manager who can't manage a squad properly when he gets a few injuries.

This is sort of excuses is what Liverpool fans come out with.

If you went and stabbed someone in the road and they died and you got sentenced to 20 years in prison.

At same time I stabbed someone and got away with it. Would you use the excuse in a court of law that you shunt be punished because I wasn't.

Absolutely ridiculous the amount of excuse and lack of accountability this fan base uses when things don't go well.

@MK7Z @topspin - also in regards to the Brighton game and the red card.

Are either of complaining about the fact Partey should have been sent off for a 2nd yellow card?

I don't see any of the fan base bringing that up on the "we are victims" chat?

Both can be true bro. We can say we have been poor and we can say we have had some decisions go against us. Its not black and white where it can only be that we have been rubbish and thats all there is to it. There have been contributing factors like the above but its upto the team to deal with them which they have not.

Nobody is complaining mate, just stating an opinion which differs from yours.

Please don't stab anybody just to prove your point :ROFLMAO:

To be honest, the whole referee thing is pointless complaining about as it's not going to change in general. The fact our players are stupidly putting themselves in a position where referees are having to make decisions is on the players.

Don't commit silly fouls etc.. players have to be smarter

Right now players focus should be on trying to win a game of football and manager needs to show bravery, cowardice football ain't going to win Arsenal anything

We have to be measured with our criticism because the players and Arteta have been exposed to unexpected circumstances and situations that have derailed the season.

Klopp produced two rubbish seasons in his last three years with a Liverpool that was capable of winning the league. So why can’t Arteta be allowed one bad season?

You have to reward him for the unbelievable work that he has done over the years, transforming a team struggling to stay in the top 8 to a team that is going toe to toe with the greatest team in PL history.

There is no doubt in my mind that Arteta will help Arsenal win the PL. It is a question of when not if.

Liverpool finished 2nd and won CL. Then won the PL the following season. Then Liverpool has a poor season after. So they had proven they could do. Well in Europe and Win the PL, so the drop off for one season was tolerated by their fans.

Liverools 2nd bad season, came after they played in every single game possible the season before. 3 Cup finals and took PL to the last day. So a drop off the seaaon after wasnt a shock.

Your comparing to bottled title challenges, we're the cup and European performances we're a shambles. Liverpool were competing in atleast 2 competitions till end of seaaon. Arsenal weren't.

Credit in the bank for what? He's not won anything in 5 years, zero cup finals. So their is no evidence to show he's capable of getting over the line.

Reality Is it that "if" Liverpool won title this season. You could have a scenario next season of Liverpool being champions, Man city / Pep not being happy with not being champions. Also a Chelsea team who is improving massively and no longer in the mud, a team that will spend more money to improve. So your so called Arsenal "blip" would then have to be overcome where Arsenal would need spend and overhaul the squad to finish above the 3 teams I've mentioned.

This was Arsenal's best chance to win title, whilst Liverpool were getting a new manager, whilst Chelsea were supposedly still in mud, City having charges over their head. Arsenal have bottled it.

For the those crying about injuries, referees, edu leaving, its a blip like Liverpool, looks like now a new excuse is coming out. Yet another 🤡 in fan base waffling, the guy in video sounds like some of the excuse merchants in this thread

Injuries or not, we should still be beating Notts Forest

It's whole point of having a squad

Agree.

Huge game as Forest are playing very well. Arsenal must score some goals!

Areta will earn his wages this weekend and until Jan. Lets see what he has up his shirt to start winning again.

Forest have been good defensively this season. Arsenal need to drastically improve home form. A lot of underperforming players need to turn up at weekend

Extreme lengths Arsenal went to to hide Martin Odegaard’s injury are revealed

Out for 66 days in total, Arsenal went to some extraordinary lengths to keep the true extent of Martin Odegaard’s injury under wraps.

The Gunners captain has only just returned from a lengthy ankle injury he sustained in September, starting against Chelsea in the Premier League after a substitute appearance against Inter Milan in Europe.

It looked like bad news from the off for Odegaard, who was pictured with crutches and a protective boot limping into a private jet shortly after his September injury.

Prone to employing some rather unusual off-field tactics, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did it again with Odegaard, hinting that he could play next time out against Tottenham despite only just receiving the injury.

Now, though, The Athletic has revealed the club’s efforts to keep opponents guessing went even further.

HONESTLY whatever you think of Arteta doing this as a tactic. Why is this useless cry baby talking so much. I will celebrate when he leaves the club. Yes Arsenal fans celebrate anything blah blah blah. But I will genuinely be ecstatic when he leaves.

The guy is such a arghhh I don't want this post edited but I really hate this guy. I wish someone would just slap him one day as he has the most slappable face I have ever seen.

I will never forgive Arteta for bringing him to my club. Jesus was not a great signing but this guy is the worst thing to happen to Arsenal since the UCL final defeat. Rant over

Hows everyone?

Yep. Injuries is part and parcel of a season.

Cant stand this zionest sympathizing moron.

So the club is looking to expand the stadium capacity from 60,000 to 80,000 which will cost a lot of money to do so.

Guess where this money will come from? Increased season ticket prices. Also means so called "transfer funds will be reduced" so the kronkes will need a manager that gets them top 4 evert season. So the same cycle Arsenal went with wenger in at back at end of his tenure will happen again.

Will fans do anything? No this club will never change. The extra 20,000 seats once in place might fill so called demand. But on the pitch this club will go even further backwards with limited spending.

Amazing mind games 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ how about the manager focuses on actually managing the squad and delivering trophies and titles.

The sooner Arteta, Zinchenko and Jesus all leave the better.

Arteta hiding players phones/watches and now this. The manager is trying to run before he has learned to walk. He must concentrate on building his squad and improving the style of play esp attacking.

Im surprised Arsenal fans (most) love him so much. I would be pulling my hair out if he was the boss of my club.

Arsenal fans love him so much because he is the reason why Arsenal have evolved from a team struggling to stay in the top 6 to fighting for the title.

He is the reason why a club that celebrated top 4 like a trophy for a decade is now disappointed over not winning the league.

He has made Arsenal fans dream again and all genuine and knowledgeable Arsenal fans are fully behind him and will continue to support him because there is no doubt that he will help Arsenal win the PL. It is a question of when not if.

Arsenal have always been a huge club, one of the biggest in the world. You are sounding as if the club has come up from the championship. The money spent, the name of the club is enough to get back into top 4 within a season.

I agree to an extent he has done well but we are now in 2024/25 season. Is the pressure getting to him ? Why is trying all these strange moves with his players , instead of building a style of play and a squad?

Arsenal is a massive institution but the standards had massively dropped post 2008 and the club forgot what it took to compete for the title.

The financial handbrake was released in 2013 when the stadium debt was paid off, but Wenger had 5 years to build a squad that could compete for the league and he couldn’t do it. Emery replaced him and he too couldn’t take the club forward.

A lot of other managers would have struggled as well but Arteta made it happen and he had to take some bold decisions as well. Not many coaches would have had the chops to deal with Aubameyang the way he did.

Under Arteta, Arsenal have continuously improved each season. This season is certainly a blip and even if people don’t accept the “excuse” that injuries have hampered the season along with inconsistency refereeing, Arteta has still earned the right and the time to get things back on track.

I would personally give him at least the end of next season and then reassess his performance and what the future should look like.

Amazing mind games 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ how about the manager focuses on actually managing the squad and delivering trophies and titles.

I think you missed my point. EVERY manager plays mind games with players when it comes to injuries, transfers etc. So don't turn this into a unique Arteta thing and using as ANOTHER stick to beat him. He has given us plenty.

My point was more to do with the cry baby feeling the need to publish sorta stuff. Anyway never mind.

Lets go back to bashing Arteta till the cows come home. May as well turn it into a Arteta Lover vs Arteta Haters thread oh wait it already is.

Oh dear the Arteta cheerleader rolling out the copy, paste, bakwas excuses.

This season is supposedly a "blip". A blip from what?

5 years without a trophy, 4 seasons without a cup final. Certain shameless poster is comparing this to liverpools blips.

Full zero ball knowledge on display as usual.

Why not start a thread "115 excuses to defend a mediocre manager"

According to the cheerleader, Arsenal had no history before Arteta took over.

They were stuck in league two and the messiah has built this so called great empire.

At start of season seems Certain parts of fan base were getting ahead of themselves

- Liverpool won't finish above Arsenal, they are no Man city's title rivals
- Chelsea are in the mud, they have spent more then Arteta gas

Now all of sudden its excuse After excuse
- Refs are cheating
- VAR are cheating
- fixtures aren't fair
- CL format isn't fair
- injuries
- its a blip like Liverpool

Seems the slap of reality has come around quickly this season.

Anyone think if we buy a striker now, that's going to magically fix everything?

The amount of liabilities in this squad, plus the high wages they are on (edu and arteta supposedly fixed the wage bill) is going to make any sort of squad refresh etc. Very difficult indeed. The midfield will need surgery as well as attacking options changed.

Also if this is a so called "blip" aka bakwas excuse.

Where has this manager or team show the capability that they can win titles or trophies? Because its not just Man city now that Arsenal will have to aim to get ahead of its Liverpool and possibly Chelsea as well (as they will spend to improve)

So certain posters need to stop with the delusion

Looks like someone is on hunger strike. The amount of excuses for failure is hilarious. Lots of chest beating and nothing but failure back this failed project 🤭😉. In their prime? 🤣🤭

Arsenal defender Ben White out for ‘months’ after knee surgery

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal defender Ben White is going to be out for “months” after undergoing a procedure on his knee during the international break.

White played the full game in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea before the break but he has been dealing with multiple issues since the start of the season.

The 27-year-old has been a virtual ever-present when fit over the past two seasons but he started on the bench against Manchester City in September and then missed the next two fixtures.

Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey have played at right back in his absence and Arteta will now need to call on the duo during a busy festive schedule.

“Ben is gonna be out for months, unfortunately,” Arteta said on Friday. “It’s been different kinds of struggles. It’s never been the same thing. We had to make a decision. It’s not been improving in the last few weeks, unfortunately.

“We know that Ben is going to push every boundary but it got to a point where we have to protect the player and we decided to do the surgery. He agreed with that and unfortunately, that’s going to keep him out for a few months.”

Arteta could not confirm exactly how long White will be missing for. “I don’t know at the moment,” the Spaniard said. “We have to see how he reacts post-surgery. I don’t expect him to be half a year, but I cannot tell you exactly.”

There was better news on some other fitness doubts, including Leandro Trossard who picked up a hamstring injury on international duty with Belgium, and England duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka who stayed at Arsenal after hobbling off against Chelsea.

“Trossard seems to be OK,” Arteta added. “He trained this morning and he seems to be feeling good. We will assess everything with the doctor right now. But that’s good.

“Bukayo and Declan as well. They had the first partial session today. So, very good as well.”

White’s absence may be mitigated with the return of left-back Riccardo Calafiori, who is also fighting to be in contention after missing five games with a knee injury.

“Riccy trained today,” he said. “His rehab has gone really well. He was able to do certain things last week with the physios. He trained on the pitch this week, he trained with us today as well. He will be in the squad.”

Deary me.

Int break. Trossard and White injured.

Poor Arteta, hope the club puts him on suicide watch !

Partey are right back and Zinchenko at left wing more then likely with this current clueless manager in charge

Partey did well v Liverpool barring the one time Diaz skinned him. You cant expect him to be a proper right back esp running up the wing in attacks. Why the heck didnt he buy cover in this important position?

As for Zinchenkco, I'd rather play an u21 player, he's as rubbish as they come.

Id still expect 3 points v Notts Forrest. Even though they beat LFC at Anfield, LFC dominated, just couldnt score and let one in.

Any points dropped v Forrest, forget the league, top 4 is up in the air.!

White has been carrying an injury since last year. So this one is not on the international break considering he doesn't even play for England.

Trossard has been tross recently so the break might do him good.

On Ben White - it's odd as to why they did not do this op in the summer. I assume as it was a last resort which they have had to do now as other treatment didn't work. Not an ideal but its something that happens a lot in Sport. If there is a way to avoid an op its always tried out.

I think it depends on the seriousness of the injury but many players/clubs opt for an operation as it usually stops the injury repeating itself over again.

What are your thoughts on the Notts game at home? They are doing very well but do you still expect 3 points?

Arsenal physio only person at club thats earning his wages with actual work

Fixture pile up of Dec and January not arrived yet and this squad is crumbling quicker than one of Arteta cheerleader predictions.

Arsenal have White, Timber and Tomiyasu. How many RBs do you need? Arsenal have cover but there is nothing you can do when both the first choice as well as the backup players are injured.

Injuries are part and parcel of Sport. City have had theirs. Now it's Arsenal who are bearing them. Good Squads, managers find a way to fight through it and stay in contention, knowing, once again their time to attack will come.

Should win whatever form they are in. We should be winning all our home games regardless of opposition.

Rice, Havertz and Martinelli on the bench 🤔

I don’t rate the latter but I still rather have him start over Trossard.

Jesus isn’t a striker, so having him start as a centre forward is worrying.

I can understand having Rice on the bench if it’s performance related. He’s not been at his best this season.

At least the defence looks good.

I would us to see us grow the capacity to 80,000 for 2 reasons:

1. Man U and Spurs now make more than Arsenal on a match day. A few years ago it used to be Arsenal who would make more on a match day than any other club in Europe

2. Demand for tickets is at an all-time high. Increasing the capacity by a third means more fans can go to watch the games

Arsenal have White, Timber and Tomiyasu. How many RBs do you need? Arsenal have cover but there is nothing you can do when both the first choice as well as the backup players are injured.

Playing Partey at rb instead of a defender means there is squad depth issue . Todays defence looks much better

The increase in capacity size and meeting ticket demands is not the issue.

To do this will cost a huge amount of money to do so.

You think the kronkes are going to pay for the stadium increase? Like they did for one of the U.S franchises or do you think like when club was paying off stadium debt the transfer funds were then non-existent?

It's all good having a 80,000 stadium, it will be with a team that will be scrapping for top 4 because using a self sustaining model and then wanting to pay for a stadium expansion only means one thing.

You can already see Arteta coming out with the "these are the best owners" statements already.

Just like wenger protected these owners, Arteta will do the same. Arteta has his nice big contract and just needs to make top 4 to keep the fans happy.

Those extra 20,000 can look forward to top 4 battles.

But but Edu did a good job in recruitment 🤣🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ crying about injuries again.

Tomiyasu was injury prone at bologna, even worse at Arsenal and the club give him a new 100k contract

Any 🤡 crying about injuries, need to shut up with the baby excuses.

Arsenal could have done plenty and 1st not signed an injury prone player, also they could have got rid of the player instead of giving them a new contract

Comedy gold zero ball knowledge as usual

HT 1-0

Brilliant goal by saka, should be more than 1-0 up

Quite a few silly yellow cards. In particular jorghino, Arsenal can't afford any stupid red cards in 2nd half.

Partey on for jorghino, common sense from manager for once

Good goal from Partey, now just need to see game out and 3 points

Gutted that shot fron nwaneri didn't go in, what a turn and spin before it

It would be very disappointing if Arsenal stopped spending money transfers because of the proposed expansion. Hope this won't be the case.

But I don't think the Islington council will approve this expansion anyway because of the impact it would have on traffic and trains etc.

Showing Jesus how it's done.

Jesus is so bad, all I ask of him is 5 x PL goals but looks like he's going to struggle to even accomplish this.
Arsenal should be begging some Saudi club to sign him.

No other PL or European club is going to pay his 250k wages + 30/40M transfer fee that Arsenal would want.

Arsenal are going to find it hard shifting this guy in summer, as well as others like Tierney, Tomiyasu and crychenko

Trossards was linked with a move to Saudi this summer, so won't be shocked of he's gone in January or summer 2025.

Can't see crychenko going to Saudi, so he will be more difficult to get rid off

No suprise Odegaard is back and we look better. He is so important to us. Always on the move little touches, sees things others don't. He was missed.

Saka was brilliant to. Good squad rotation today and it worked.

I actually thought Trossard had one of his better games.

But I don't think the Islington council will approve this expansion anyway because of the impact it would have on traffic and trains etc.
20,000 extra seats would be approx 30-35M extra revenue which longterm sounds good. But building costs, borrowing rates means any expansion will be expensive. Can't see kronkes stumping that cash up themselves, so that will mean the club having less to spend and needing CL money to get by.

Having to compete against City, Liverpool and teams improving like Chelsea will become difficult

If that’s the case, let’s hope the council will reject this proposal. I think they will because having that extra 20,000 will make it too chaotic in/around the capital, let alone in North London.

No suprise Odegaard is back and we look better. He is so important to us. Always on the move little touches, sees things others don't. He was missed.

Saka was brilliant to. Good squad rotation today and it worked.

I actually thought Trossard had one of his better games.
I don't think Jesus or Jorginho in particular had good games. Everyone else did do their jobs.

Giving timber and calafori game time after fitness issues was important.

Nwaneri could have come on earlier.

Main thing was 3 points.

If you mean back as being competitive then yeah, that can happen in 2nd half of the season. If you mean back as being dominant - then I don't think we will ever witness another SAF like era in our lifetime.
Your new manager has a serious job on his hands. As most united players usually turn up for few 1st games for a new manager before reverting to type. United won't be back for a while until your squad is fully taken apart, then built a fresh.

Playing Partey at rb instead of a defender means there is squad depth issue . Todays defence looks much better
Having three quality RBs in the squad means it is not a depth issue. There isn’t a team in Europe that has more than 3 quality RBs.

The fact that all three have been injured at the same time is a luck issue and not depth issue.

No Arsenal fan should sleep on the importance of Odegaard, one of the greatest creative midfielders in the world.

A phenomenal player who makes everything tick. Arsenal are a completely different side in his presence.

One can only laugh at the likes of @Amjid Javed who calls him overrated and someone who ghosts in big matches. What nonsense.

🤣

Signing an injury prone player, the giving them a new 100K+ contract when they are continously injured (Tomiyasu)

Then continously being forces to play Ben White, (due Tomiyasu being unavailable) which aggrevaited the injury he had.

That's supposedly bad luck.

Clueless as always, it's called gross negligence. But the decisions this club and clueless manager make aren't a surprise

Only one can laugh at the nonsense from a certain zero ball knowledge poster

Arteta is best young manager

Arsenal will win 2 titles in next 3,4,5 years

Havertz Is world class

It's in the bag

Liverpool will not finish above Arsenal

Chelsea are in the mud

🤡

Seem like they are trying to out do each other with most failed and comical predictions

You back in the title race ?

Arsenal fans are dancing in the streets , it’s been a while since a win .

City dropped points . The title race is back on ?

Didn’t watch the match but from the stats notts were poor .

A long way to go , top 4 race is hotting uo :wenger

If Liverpool win against Southampton and Man city in next two games then you are 99.9% on to be champions.

Would take a huge bottle job to throw it away.

No Arsenal are not in title race, they are battling for top 4 right now.

It’s not even December. Plenty to play for.

as for Liverpool I’d rather be points clear & if losing the title in may is bottle job , I’ll take over a bottle job in November as Arsenal have acc to Arsenal fans who believe it’s over for them .

Mate if there's one lesson we've learnt from the last two seasons is that it is never over until it's over.

Even more games this, no winter break. So it's in liverpools best interest to get as many points clear as possible.

Liverpool are huge favs now, so they need to make sure they don't let it slip

City are still capable of winning 15/16 in a row . Liverpool are capable of losing 4/5 matches . Arsenal can also win 10+ in a row .

It’s also very competitive this season for top 4 .
