Havertz might not be the best attacker around but one thing you have to credit him for is his fitness. Very robust and durable, covers a lot of miles per game. But he is not a machine and it was inevitable the way Arteta flogged him and Saka.

Sounds like a good plan but the league may well be all over by then. :)

We are also Liverpool and winning trophies is part of our culture, so another domestic cup will be great ,esp after going out of the FA cup. Newcastle need to chill, dont make into such a huge event and will then play well. If the occasion gets to the team, it will very difficult to beat LFC in this cup final.

But on the larger point, resting players is key now in the modern game. The latter stages of the season can turn top teams into avg looking sides if 3/4 top players are out. Arsenal simply havent spent and the arrogance of Arteta has made it tough for them. Slot in his first season is resting as much as he can, he knows he has one of the best XI in the world and keep them fit, surely something is possible.

Newcastle have tough games too before the final but not in Europe has helped them a lot imo.

When in this position, you have to do your best to take this opporunity as winning the PL is arguably the hardest trophy to win in team sports worldwide.

Everton fans will be up for this tonight, their last derby at the hut like stadium. A win here is huge but LFC an easily drop points too.

Tbf considering we were there 2 years ago I don't think it will be made into such a huge event this time

Ultimately we recognise you are a better side but we do have a chance to win, though for that to happen a lot of things need to fall in our favour (form leading up to it, free from injuries/suspensions etc etc)

My old Director is a Magpie fan, he is a season ticket holder and acc to him huge numbers are travelling to Wembley. You were in a final not long ago but this season with Isak on fire, there seems to be a belief in the team they can win this trophy. Being against LFC would be very sweet to win this but Newcastle need to have their best XI to stand any chance imo. Liverpool are used to playing finals now, they will be more composed but should be a great match.

Just dont(team) go Dubai and fall off a camel like Havertz,

Arteta is part of the blame but all of them have failed at their job who have allowed this to happen.

They set them self up for inevitable failure and its now happened.

Its ok we wont need a striker in the summer as Havertz will be like a new signing.

We have been through much worse however I dont think I have seen people unite in the disappointment that this has happened.

For me and you its the norm but for a lot of fans who this is the best we have been, its a new feeling. We have seen it all before and we know how the circle of life works at Arsenal LTD. Hopefully these fans will now open their eyes with their 8/10 window ratings etc.

It's clearly obvious they wrote the season off with the shambolic January transfer window. Then the usual nonsense about the club not wanting to disturbe the so called medium and longterm plans.

On top of that we now get the Arsenal have a "war chest" changed to "substantial summer"

Most new fans will lap this up, they have already used the injuries excuses as why we are behind Liverpool.

Nothing will change, fans are happy just going to games, no interest in winning trophies

Me and you bro, this is groundhog day. Bern there and seen that, not bought the t-shirt 🤣 as I ain't buying no merchandise.

Only thing left for new breed of fans is when players like saliba, Rice, saka etc.. start to leave to win trophies elsewhere. Until then most these fans still backing this process will keep being delusional

Liverpool have 5 games (tough ones) in 15 days and we are struggling to put out a decent front 3 to apply any pressure

when edu left, it did seem he wasnt needed as no signings were agreed for the rest of the season. Not sure if Arteta was part of this decision but its criminal not gst anyone in knowing you are short . Liverpool are not over the line, take the league open to Anfield, its possible. This is not a mid table team happy with no relegation or European chances, still in the two big competitions but no urgency is hard to believe. If this was liverpool or others, the fans would be outraged. Arsenal is an interesting club for sure
 
I fully expect Nwaneri and Timber to be the next 2 players to get injured. Nwaneri will not get run into the ground like saka did. Timber is already struggling playing 2 games a week most of time and will be burnt out Soon.

Imagine getting paid 1Million pound per minute for football in a season.

6M a year for 6 mins of football, amazing Tomiyasu

It was good that Arteta and edu did their research when signing this player from bologna, where his injury record was atrocious

I've a bad feeling about tonight's game vs Everton. The atmosphere will be feral as it's the last Derby at Goodison. Don't like seeing Diaz as the #9 against a low block.

We've 5 league games in 15 days, and some tricky aways in the coming months. Arsenal have a much easier second half of the season.

Arsenal should prepare to close the gap. And don't forget you're still to come to Anfield - remember Michael Thomas 1989.

Arteta is on 15M a year time to earn that money with coaching the players he has left. He's flogged most of these injured players into the ground, so it's no shock they are injured. Gross neglect and incompetence all in one.

I wonder how much Arsenal physio gets paid. Atleast they are being made to work hard for their wages.

Best referee in England supposedly

2 Players on yellow cards, both players then made a blatant fouls pulling a player back, which is a yellow card.

But those rules only apply to certain teams

This guys just the new Mike Riley, Mike Dean, just wanting to make himself centre of attention

That's where we disagree, if you referee things differently it indicates you are a poor referee

The problem with the tin foil hat conspiracy is that it makes zero sense, when reasonable questions have no logical answers it's usually met with accusations of being naive

City aren't even in the run in for the Premier League, Liverpool are heavy favourites with Arsenal having a slight chance, I'm just trying to work out who is paying Oliver and who is he supposedly helping? Or is the reality more that referees have poor games

Yes, agree good point esp no injuries! I hate Everton, they win nothing but are happy to cause injuries to our players, it was their cup final.

Oliver like most PL refs are poor but we cant blame the ref, we should have seen the game out with mins to go.

We went through this before and why referees were stopped from going to Saudi due to conflict of interest.

Tin foil is when there is zero evidence. As per usual you choose to ignore thar evidence when it was brought up last time.

What reasonable questions did you bring up?

Only person who brought actual facts to table was me.

Feel free to Keep ignoring the fact the Oliver was stopped from going to Saudi again, all expenses paid and getring a higher then normal match fee because it was a conflict of interest.

Then again you thought this arrangement was alright.

The sending off for Slot was due "for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language" not because of shaking his hand

Now, what words he used, no idea, if it's incorrect then I'm sure Liverpool will appeal as the audio is out there

The insinuation is there though, two incidents, one sending off and the other isn't. The distinct difference being Slot was sent off for using "offensive, insulting, or abusive language"

I'm just trying to keep up with the tin foil hats (not suggesting you are fully there but some of the insinuation is that you are teetering towards that)

I've never once said he's stopping Arsenal winning the league. I said he's a poor referee and treats teams differently and is dodgy the way he does it. To go along with his side hustle that was stopped because obviously it was all above board.

Thats an opinion. Not sure where tin foil hat comes into it.

It's like me saying you are part of specs savers brigade as you thought MLS was a red card.

Anyway I stand by what I believe. He let's City off with more than other teams and seems to give odd decisions against Arsenal.

Don't be so naive to believe we think he'll do things every game.

If it's incorrect then another overturned from the so called best referee....

Offensive language is another inconsistency. Just look at the likes of Palmer, Grealish who consistently use foul language as do most players to be fair. But Oliver had to make it about him

If that was the start and end of your statement I have no issues with that

I almost never challenge people that say a referee is bad, simply because it's such a subjective thing and that's how they feel

My contention is around people thinking there is some conspiracy, the Arsenal fans have made their thoughts on Oliver clear and now the Liverpool fans are saying the same about him? You do know both can't be right?

If however the claim from both is that he's a crap referee then both can be right and whilst I might not necessarily agree with that opinion I wouldn't be quick to challenge it

It's when people genuinely believe he gets paid to stop certain teams, that part is ludicrous and I'll always challenge that (until and unless someone can show me some crystal clear evidence otherwise and no, refereeing a game openly abroad is not that)

Take the 4 Arsenal red cards this season, even amongst Arsenal fans not everyone can agree they were or were not red cards (Except the MLS one, that was a universal opinion and then overturned), so there is inconsistency amongst football fans, it will happen with referees too simply because no two instances are ever truly the same, they can be similar but not the same

Anyway, I hate the narrative around referees and I've grown to dislike it more and more over the years (I think the behaviour of social media Arsenal fans have contributed towards this). I like football for the actual football and would much sooner discuss this. (Though I know it's not exclusively an Arsenal thing, every single fanbase has those fans that will immediately talk about the referee rather than admitting their team deserved to lose)
 
Arsenal need to hang in there, dig out a couple of 1-0 wins after this Leicester game and the league is back on.

Even if the points gap is 7 come first of April, it's doable as Liverpool have the tougher run in.

Liverpool also have tough games coming up, but with Arsenals forwards issue, their games will seem just as hard.

Match the results until Saka is back April 1st, and it's still on.

Like always said, a LONG way to go, but for now Arsenal just need to focus on themselves and going back to Mourinho tactics and Corners FC

I'm consistent when talking about the refs and it's never exclusive to Arsenal. Oliver is a special case cos of his shenanigans.

If refs ruin the game with pathetic inconsistent decisions for personal egos then the game is hard to enjoy and difficult to talk about if the retardness of the ref has ruined it.

Like them suddenly deciding to have the automated offside in the FA Cup from the next round... Leicester will love that.

Saka ain't coming back any time soon, they have already tried to rush him back and he's had another set back.

The club's medical team and manager are a shambles in regards to running these players into the ground. Also the way this medical team are clueless at looking after these players.

Timber and Nwaneri will be next to break down.

Liverpool win drop more points, but Arsenal broken squad will not take advantage of it.

We beat a poor Leicester team and made it harder then it should have been. Even with injuries sterling should never play again awful player.

glad Nwaneri deserved man of match.

Seems a player turning up for 1st time this season and is now a proven good signing lol.

Big game this Sunday.. City looking far better and Liverpool were shaky yesterday.
First we have to see out West Ham on Saturday...

Don't forget Liverpool are away to Villa on Wednesday night first

Although Villa haven't been in great form I do think they step up when facing the bigger sides, would not be surprised if Villa get at least a draw

There was anything needed for me to say.

The bottom 4 teams in PL are awful and similar to wolves game we made it harder then we should have (yes wolves we had 10 men so more difficult)

Liverpool will drop points as I've said all along. Problem is at sumpoint the lack of clinical edge in final 3rd will come back to bite Arsenal. It already has with number of drawn games we've had.

With games vs West ham, United and Chelsea we are good enough to keep cleansheets, but we are going to have to fund ways to take chances in those games.

I expect us to beat West ham. Liverpool will drop points against City or Villa.

yes that missing striker was always going to come back to haunt us.
But I don't know I just get this feeling in the pit of my stomach that we can carve out goals and its gonna be a tight race...
 
Pivotal week. As AJ said Liverpool wont win both games but you cant trust us to have a winning run with our forward line.

I can see Liverpool potentially drawing both. Looks like the gap will be around that come the last 10 games but we are where we are. Firing blanks up front.

Best we can do is not make it easy for Pool by doing what we have to do when required.

Because we are out of both domestic cups we have quite big gaps in between our league games. In March we only have two league fixtures vs United and Chelsea.

This month left we have west ham and Forrest. So we can actually put out our strongest defence and midfield in those games and which gives a solid base in games. The worry is always going to be if we go behind in games or have to keep chasing games late on.

Also we haven't really been on any sort of long run of wins this season to gain momentum. Martinelli maybe back for either Chelsea or United game. With sterling not able to play Chelsea game, Arteta will probably have to go with sticking merino up front for 2 games.

At moment the club wrote off the season, and team seems to play better with no pressure. But if that changes to pressure then it will just flatter to decive again.

Also when CL games come in, the manager will have to show he can rotate the threadbare squad he left holes in and manoeuvre between what he thinks is a priority to him.

Still due back in March?

I think they said around April but in my opinion I think it depends what the table looks like. If we have a chance I think he will be used however if we are out of it I think the focus will be him taking some well earned full recovery time with an extended end of season break. Makes sense to be honest.

Common sense would says the club wouldn't rush him back regardless of the league position come April. Where would he even get his match fitness etc.. built up. Also this isn't a minor injury. He should be left out to get fit for next season.

But I won't be shocked if medical team and manager rush him back, it's been done with numerous other players before.

The player needs rest and full recovery.

100% he should be left to recover
 
So No team apart from Newcastle in 1995 has failed to win the title having a lead of 7 or more points after 25 games.

So its official this will be the mother of all bottle jobs to go with Liverpools previous bottle jobs.

I would love it, I would love it if it happens. LOL in reality its very unlikely.

Arsenal fined for reaction to Lewis-Skelly red card

Arsenal have been fined £65,000 for failing to control their players after Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off during their Premier League win at Wolves.

The Football Association (FA) charged Arsenal with failing to ensure their players "did not behave in an improper manner," at Molineux on 25 January.

The club admitted the charge before an independent regulatory commission imposed the sanction.

Arsenal players surrounded referee Michael Oliver in the 43rd minute of their 1-0 victory after he showed Lewis-Skelly a straight red card for a foul on Matt Doherty.

Video assistant referee (VAR) Darren England upheld Oliver's decision that Lewis-Skelly committed serious foul play.

The Gunners appealed against the decision and the 18-year-old's three-match ban was subsequently overturned.

After the match referees' body Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) said police were investigating "threats and abuse" directed at Oliver and his family on social media.

Also Howard Webb said the MLS red was not a red etc. But some will maintain it was not a howler. Go figure. I mean even if your boss says you made a mistake in public its defo a howler.

Yeah Howard Webb just rambled on behind the you can't abuse if someone makes a bad decision. It was embarrassing from Webb. What was even worse was the world's most boring pundit Owen trying to continently defend it. You could tell it was all prescripted.

Should beat both even with our issues. Obviously we have never won a UCL but its easier to scam your way through than winning the PL. ( not saying that we will ) But a good defence can take you far and we have that.

Arsenal need to play with no pressure. Nobody expects this season to be any sort of success so the players should play with some freedom and stranger things have happened.

I was told yesterday that if Liverpool lose to Man City and Arsenal beating West Ham then its in Arsenal's own hands ( apart from goal difference). I told him don't do it to yourself as we are not winning every game now until the end of the season but it just shows how things can change very quickly.
