No Usman Khawaja in ODIs? I would imagine that the shorter formats would be his stronger suit.

Australia: Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steven Smith(c), George Bailey, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade(w), James Faulkner, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Hilton Cartwright, Travis Head, Adam Zampa

New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson(c), Henry Nicholls, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, BJ Watling(w), Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lachie Ferguson, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Todd Astle

Toss in 15 minutes I believe, going to be one hell of a contest.

Too many tests lately, let's get the real entertainment started, shall we?

Come on Tests might not be as entertaining but Tests are the real deal.

Although I love ODI's myself. Especially between two competitive teams.

Playing XI's

New Zealand: Guptill, Latham, Williamson, Neesham, Munro, Watling, Santner, de Grandhomme, Henry, Ferguson, Boult

Australia: Warner, Finch, Smith, Bailey, M Marsh, Head, Wade, Cummins, Starc, Zampa, Hazlewood

NZ left out Southee

They are playing Lockie Ferguson who according to cricinfo has the ability to hit 150ks.

oooh ouch Maxwell dropped.

Excited to see Ferguson bowl.

I hope it's true that he can crank it up to 155 and isn't another overrated trundler :akhtar

If true, he might be able to clock 160 or more today.

We all know how Aussie speed guns are like :starc

Please let Ferguson bowl the first over, really want to see if he's the real deal.

Are Australia really going to prepare good pitches for Pakistan? :))

Man Pakistan might win if they're silly enough to do that.

They need to go back to what they know best - roads.

Good to see Finch put in his rightful place.

Lord commander of hacks.

Ball is doing plenty, need to get it right and we could have Aus 6 down quickly.

I liked NZ's black and blue kit one of there better kits in the past years but my favorite of all time was the blue one in 1999.

When was the last time there was movement like this for an ODI in Australia?

Ha ha ha.

I'm loving it - hope that Warner, Smith and Wade get stuck playing ODI shots when they have a Test in 11 days time v Pakistan!

And if Hazlewood or Starc get injured, or even overworked.......

James Faulkner should have played ahead of Cummins, imo.

There is a strong lobby - and I don't support it - for Cummins to be fast-tracked into the Test side v Pakistan next week.

Pretty much all of us in Australia know that he is the crown jewel of Australian cricket. He is the real deal.

But I want him to slowly build up how much he bowls, rather than break down again.

Yeah I hope they bring that Jersey back circa 2000 Champions trophy.

On topic, this is some dumb scheduling by CA. Smith,Warner ,Hazlewood,Starc form the core of your test team and youre making them play a meaningless ODI series against Enzed when the tests against Pakistan are less than two weeks away?

Smith on his third life.

Is Smith always like this when there's something there for the bowlers?

Arghh stepped away for a couple minutes and missed Smith's lifelines, what chances did he give?

Ferguson gets the final laugh.

Warner looks like a fool now :)))

Aman he's already bowled at 150.4 KPH but has got hit for two fours in one over.

Edit Ferguson gets him out!

Dropped catch down leg by Watling and lbw by Boult.

NZ didn't review because there's only the one review.

Seriously rubbish crowd at the SCG, in a city with 5 million people, on a weekend, with no more international cricket for a month.

Further proof that the Aussie public only ever watched one day cricket for the nighttime convenience, but much prefer Day/Night Tests to ODIs.

147 clicks first ball, man he could special.

Get him into the Test side ASAP, we desperately need an enforcer.

So excited for this guy, cricket hasn't speed this kind of raw speed for a while

Well no.

ODIs were popular but 1. bilaterals feel pretty meaningless and 2. T20 has taken up all the space ODIs had

I don't think speed guns are any faster than in NZ. Colin is still bowling in mid 120's and Boult is still bowling around 135.

If you think back to Kerry Packer, it was only the move to Night cricket which brought in the crowds.
