4 Bailey...

I don't care how bad he is.

First half century would be special.

Oh and the reason i like him is his fighting spirit when under pressure. Does not crumble. A real fighter!

Tests a different ball game altogether. Dhoni is a bottler in tests and we all know how good he is in limited overs cricket.

I know.

Which is why I'm more excited for him to prove his doubters wrong.

Call me deluded or insane but that's my gut feeling :P

Anythings possible with Cook and KP.

If i was clake id send out haddin and bailey with a licence to go out and play there shots for 16-18 overs and get lead well over 500 and then get england back in tonight, this wicket is at its best now for batting so knocking over england again may be tough so need to allow as much time as possible.

New ball taken , But Haddin is throwing his bat at everything...

13 runs off James Anderson in first over...

Should declare with an hour remaining today .Eng are not chasing 500 in any case .

No chance. Silly comment by Piers Morgan. England need a day of rain and then to bat brilliantly to salvage a draw from this and I don't think they will in their current batting form.

England will probably bat for the draw but the wicket seems easy to bat on once you're in, all you need to do is bat time.

Ryan Harris wasn't there when England pulled off the 500.

And Johnson is in good form. Lyon is superior to Doherty.

meanwhile England's batsmen are in poor form. They'd need great luck with the rain.

It's doable - SA batted for 2 days to salvage a draw last summer. But blocking for 180 overs is tough. Most times people just look at flat wicket and say "x number of overs left, if we can score at y run rate and only lose 1 wicket a session we can win". It's mathematically possible but improbable.

Still, they did score 500+ for the loss of 1 wicket here last Ashes series so it's doable.

haddin and johnson really need to throw the kitchen sink at everything here, extract how many ever runs they can in the next 15-20 overs.

England have to do this. Can't let the Aussies win any over here. Centuries by Trott, Bell and Prior should be enough.

The commentary is dead right now. Everyone's shocked.

You can't let us win any at a ground where we haven't lost in 25 tests?

500 up with 27 over left . bat for next 10 get 40 or 50 & then fire at Eng for next 15 overs should be the modus-op .

We always say that though. The wicket is easy to bat on until you get bowled. Otherwise everyone would score a ton. Even the probabilities start to work against you when you have to bat that long.

That said it's certainly possible. If MJ starts to spray it around again and Lyon is as ineffectual as Swann has been.

The main thing about 550 is the pressure.

Lose three wickets for 150 (a decent start) and you still need 400 runs.

England need to put the score out of the heads and just bat... bat... bat... and bat..

Channel 9 trolling Tremlett's 123 km/hr pie. "Is that an intentional slower ball? I don't think so." :)))

this is the team which English commies in 2011 said will go on to dominate for a long time :))) since blanked 3-0 in UAE 0-2 @ home vs SA and now 1-0 here is on

just shows that a year or two is a very long time in sport in general

"Beat me away and i'll beat you at home". Thats cricket today.
England should have lost to NZ away too.

Fletcher went a step ahead and said India would dominate for 5-10 years :))

The problem is India/England took their top spot for granted and became complacent. South Africa however seem the real deal.

Just declare by the end of the next over. They'll need all the time they can get to bowl out the English, especially with the threat of rain looming.

If we can't bowl them out in 6 and a bit sessions we can't bowl them out at all.

Interesting.

A draw likely?

draw quite possible. Would be the Australian aim to win in Brisbane and Perth and draw in Adelaide.

Then just have to draw or win one of Melbourne and Sydney

This has being allright for the bowlers.

Adelaide is much worse. Especially with the new drop in.

So if they win this one and draw the next, Australia will be on course to win the Ashes. Not good news for Pakistan fans.

Declaration has come, 7/401. 561 to win. On a flat wicket it should be no problem

Good on Clarke for taking my advice. The English camp is down and defeated, should be easy pickings for Johnson and co.

You do realize that there have only been 8 instances of a successful chase of 500+? And I'm talking about all forms of cricket; international, domestic, IPL.

Australia have this game in the bag, if they bowl horribly, England might draw this.

That said it's certainly possible. If MJ starts to spray it around again and Lyon is as ineffectual as Swann has been.

Even then 560 is plenty of runs. No matter how the wicket is or one bowler may bowl badly, it's still a tall order for a team to last for 2 days. I know it was done last time but Eng has not been batting that well in recent times.

Go for 600. Even if they are 200/2 they still need 400. And they are unlikely to bat at anywhere near 3 to the over as well.
Tyd is genoeg vir Australie. Hulle moet nie paniekerig raak
