If reach the Semis somehow,we'll defeat the Aussies..

LOL what a runout, after a fumble from Nannes! 7 down

another one :out some tailender 8 down now

If it was Pakistan bowling and had SL on 50 for 5

SL would've still ended up getting atleast 130 here as Pak after getting 3-4 wickets become so relaxed that they have the game in their bag and NO the opposition can not get away from here and LOOK at the Aussies approach PROFESSIONALISM is the word!

Does this put India back in contention for a SF place?
india are right back in it now. All they need is to beat SL and hope Aussie beat Wi and they are through

Gavaskar seems very happy now.

Yes, I can't call him Stormy Gavaskar after this commentating performance!

Not yet, SL run rate is +2.8 and India's NRR is -1.5...after today's defeat it will be in minus but still will be higher than india.

So india not only need to beat SL but also well enough.

Maybe India has fixed this game .... :) Srilanka needs to lose massively for Indian hopes to remain alive .... atleast until the Aus-Windies game or India-SL game

SL better be careful about the NRR. They are on the verge of bringing India back into the mix.

this will be a heavy defeat. There run rate will be worser than india now

yeah you're right. But still if WI manage to just lose and not get humiliated, india's hard work will go down the drain.

Best thing is that WI play after India haha

its too late for them to think about it now..

I think Aussie will destroy WI

Australia has beaten both India and Sri Lanka with much bigger margins than they beat Pakistan.

Yeah Pakistan lost by 34 runs only. To our credit we were in the game till 15th over of our batting in second innings and we also managed to score 157 runs against this australian attack.

Shocking batting performance from SL but an overall clinical performance by Australia. Through to the SFs.

TBH SL wasnt great against WI.It was WI who droppd so many catches and played worst than SL. other wise i dont think SL was great .Watch it will be Aus and WI wh o will be through

Apparently, there are rifts in the SL team, esp. on Jayasuriya's inclusion. Rumors of pressure on Sanga to step down.

:13: so we are not the only country who have these problems

According to Cricinfo, Lanka's RR is -0.6 while India's is -1.575. So still think India has to beat Lanka by a substantial margin?

Not too substantial. Only by 21-22 runs, and then hope that WI loses too (by any margin)

no it cant be i think india needs to win by atleast 40 runs.....

NRR run deficits (for vs against):

India; 63 runs
WI: 43 runs
SL: 24 runs

If India are to qualify, they need to beat SL by more than 39 runs. Plus, Aus must beat WI by any margin.

If SL are to qualify, they need to lose to India by less than 39 runs AND Aus must beat WI by any margin. OR, SL win against India AND WI either lose to Aus or win against Aus by less than 19 runs minus X, where X is SL's margin of victory against India.

If WI are to qualify, India must beat SL and WI beat Aus (any margins). OR, SL beat India AND WI beat Aus by more than 19 runs plus X, where X is SL's margin of victory against India. If both SL and WI lose their games, WI must not lose by more than the same margins.

Stats-wise, SL has the best chance to make it, but WI will have the most info available given they play last.

no .. u r not getting it .. if we beat them by 21 runs .. it means our runrate goes up and their goes down .. So its a 2 way thing ..

so 21 here remove the difference of 40 odd runs ..

U can even calculate ..

ind 63 runs(defict)....sl 24 runs(defict)....india needs to win by 20 runs so the difference will be 43-44 making ind rr better and ofcourse aussie needs to beat wi....

NRR is simply runs scored for vs scored against (divided by overs, which are the same for all). If the deficit is 39 runs, you need to score 139 and bowl your opponent out for 100.

Correct, in this case, they are playing against each other.

Like I said previously, Australia peaked in their India match. Plateau for the next match and then knockout in semis

Keep it up mate, according to you we've been peaking and plateauing for the last couple of years. OZ likes proving people wrong. Though in this case you're probably right - I predict a loss coming up for us in the next match :(
