Bangladesh v England | 1st Test | Chittagong | Oct 20-24, 2016 | Day 1

Inshallah :moali will hit a match winning century with my man Root and guide English to an Innings victory. We all need to make sure that the game is preserved to the best of the lot.

England have their MoJo, watch out India. :moali

Playing against Bangladesh will be good practice for facing SirJee in a couple of weeks. Good to see that this is a turning pitch as well.

Such pathetic elitist attitude. I hope you enjoy a cricket world where two-three teams play each other a million times and bore fans to death

Umpire is having a horrid time. Stop giving Moeen out, damnit. :moali

AB De Villiers with a Moen Ali brain would win a World Cup for SA.

Roooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot goneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Bangla offie on carnage mode.

Shakib should join in on the fun soon.

Moen has a cricketing brain of a genius.

Actually it's too obvious - on a turner, by the law of LBW, it's near impossible to get a LBW for a SLAO spinner to a left handed batsman, bowling over the wicket.

If Ali manages to get a fifty, it will show how strong he is mentally. Struggling big time right now.

Don't have much expectations from Stokes.

I will have my eyes on him when he plays Aus and SA as he would suit to those cconditions. He likes ball to come on bat and hence will enjoy the pace.

What the hell is stokes thinking. Going over deep midwicket at this stage...

Has shown a bit more maturity in the last 6 months or so and was good in the ODI series so I'm hoping from a bit more from him than I did initially.

Quick 30s are invaluable of such pitches and Stokes is capable of getting them a few times over the next 6-7 tests.

This was on the cards since ball one - he just few Stokes with a leg stick line for half an hour.

Beauty from Shakib. Makes you wonder why he was bowling that leg stump rubbish for so long.

Give up punditry please :)))

Hes prob the best one on this site along with Chief Destroyer and Junaids who is good when it comes to Test cricket and old stuff but MMHS is probably the most knowledgable.

You didn't understand - what Sakib did to get the wicket was asked from ball one, he was trying to get Stokes on sweeping, where should have tried to make him drive against spin, which is Taijuls speciality as he bowls slower & turns the ball, while Sakib is more round arm.

I was expecting this from you though - the 1st post will go above your head; what remains is "bring Taijul".

As I said in my preview of the IND-ENG series in the other thread - England's batsmen lack the patience to play slow, attritional cricket that is required in Asia. Cook is the exception.

Also the fact they're not picking these variations isn't a good sign.

Sakib is bowling faster for the wicket - need to make the batsmen lean forward.

Bairstow is England's best batsman after Cook and Root. Should be in higher than 7.

Quicks 30s-40s won't win you games.Nobody will remember anything substantial done by him if he gets out at 30s-40s with a rare single digit score.

It seems you are still stuck to the India-SA series last year.Move on from there.

Overseas team would need big knocks from their players to win game even in India. 200-250 total won't win them any match.

Shaun-Smith hit a century each but still they couldn't win/drew the last tests in SL.

It may look at once that breezy knocks can turn the course of game on good spinning tracks but its not the case, particularly , in first two innings of a game.

England, quite like SA, at times tries to save their more valuable batsmen a lot by pushing them down the order.

Bairstow should bat at 5 and no less than that ,particularly with Root at 3.

Poor review again - just like left arm spinner, an Offie won't get a LBW against left hander from over the wicket.

I think Moeen was promoted, because he plays spin better, which he is proving. Outside Asia, they will alter spot. Stokes probably wants to bat at all-rounder's number.

Its a mistake Pakistan have made a lot in ODIs over the past 20 years. Thank God we are actually rectifying it now.

Wish we had invited English earlier than Kiwis, but i guess then Kiwis would had missed out on their summer games.

50 is up for moeen half job is done and half is remaining he is man of crisis for england after root

Another Bairstow-Ali rescue act. Would be big if ENG can get to 285-300. Give your bowlers something to work with

Moeen Ali is key for England's India tour. With bat and ball.

If you can't take some light heartened banter without getting all defensive then clearly I was incorrect in quoting you - My Bad won't do it again...

Writing long tedious essays does not equate to cricketing knowledge mate. Many too on this platform have amazing knowledge regarding the game and trust me I've interacted with some posters who have literally blown me away by their indept insight.

Being a decent historian does not necessarily mean that the individual would have good cricketing acumen as well. and apart from Chief Destroyer (who I rate very very highly as an analyst) the other two posters are a testament to the said latter analogy. Nothing person against these blokes - just my two cents.

Hope you understand

Bairstow at 7 is still a bit low.He should bat ahead of Stokes if Stokes is your no.6.

Moen is a very handy bat no doubt.

just checked.. spinner taking wicket upfront in 10th over in 5 days test.. other than any masterclass.. this test will hardly last 3days

After playing so many tests England still struggling against test deprived Bangladesh. If Bangladesh score 450 than they will have chance to win this.

Not able to watch the game due to be at work, can someone please tell me what a good 1st innings score is for England?

To win they need 450+ and bowled opposition under 300 and score 250 and give opportunity to opposition 350-400 in the 4th innings

Only watched the first session this morning but when I was I was thinking anything 300+ would be a pretty good score.

If England had decent spinner than yes but not mediocre spinners like Moeen, Rahis and Betti

Rashid could be lethal on a pitch like this, epecially given his improved consistency of late and I think Batty will do a decent job this winter. Ali's evidently being viewed as the 3rd spinner hence him being put up the order to focus more on his role as a batsman.

We need to just crawl to 300 somehow or the other. Given such a score I believe we can offset these Bangladeshis with Broad and Woakes during the second innings.

Sad to see so few people in the stands. We are bereft of watching cricket in Pakistan and sometime really depressed while in some other countries people do not take interest in international games.

I think 258-7 in the first dig is a useful score on this deck. I too think Rashid could be decisive.

We need to get them out under 320 if not 300 and bat for 4 innings if we want to win the match. This pitch will definitely yield a result.
