It was an extraordinary day for England! As the players left the field, including the two Pakistan batters, they all shook hands with Brook. His incredible triple hundred not only placed him among England’s cricketing elite but also set the stage for what now feels like a near-certain result, with Pakistan down to just four wickets. Records tumbled as Brook and Root forged a massive 454-run partnership for the fourth wicket, propelling the visitors to a colossal total of 823 in 150 overs. While Root notched his career-best 262, it was his Yorkshire teammate, Brook, who went on to reach the milestone of a triple century.

In reply, Pakistan has collapsed. Despite the flat nature of the pitch, England’s pacers have been superb with the new ball, making things happen. They deserve huge credit for their relentless effort, pounding the pitch and finding some uneven bounce from the cracks. Pakistan, however, contributed to their own struggles. With Salman now left to bat alongside Jamal and the lower order, the outlook is grim for Pakistan—or could they still find a way to fight back?

Pakistan should look to make England bat again to save some face.

I feel that the match will be over with in 10 overs on Day-5.
 
I am surprised why Pakistan didn't adopt a defensive bowling and fielding. I remember what once MSD did. Australia was going at a rate of 4 an over in response to India's 441. Next day India came up with a plan which was basically packing one side with 8 fielders and bowled wide. Australia started the innings at 190/2 in 49 overs or something and scored 167 runs in the next 84 overs. Eventually India went on to win that match.

Misbah ruined Pakistan cricket… he is speaking to our players and killing the mentality. So they underperform and Misbah’s son can come into international side.

Almost same number of overs. What a difference in score.
 
Pakistanis should just stay in the hotel. No point in coming out. They have disgraced us enough. Players, administrators, everyone. Just a complete joke.

U need Skill and discipline to implement that tactic currently which pakistan lack very much

Yea. But they didn't even attempt. They bowled most of the balls at the stumps . It allowed England to play both sides of the wickets at will without taking too much risks.
 
Eng will start with aggressive fields so if these guys can survive first hour and get set, theres a chance of making it till 2nd new ball
 
If Shan can score 150 then you already know the pitch is a 800-1000 total pitch. Nobody is surprised.
 
Its really weird how some tailenders suddenly just switch on mentally and become better at batting once at intl level.

Aamer Jamal just looks a high quality #8 but theres nothing much in his FC batting record that would have pointed to that. Like you'd have estimated him to be an average #9 who can stick around for a partnership at best.

Shardul Thakur another such case. For years he was tulla #9 slogger avging 15-16 in FC and suddenly in Test cricket he's going at 21-22 and hitting cover drives/straight drives
 
going to be tough to pick pickets with ball having lost its hardness ... 80 run partnership now
 
Pakistan should just look to keep England out there as long as possible.

England haven't even called up back up pacers after Hull injury and Stokes can't bowl much and there's only a 3 day turnaround to the next match.
 
jamal and Salman need to bat their hearts out to save this game and be a hero. IMO there is no chance to save this game for Pakistan though.

Pakistani fans need longer break more than the English bowling attack after this match.

taking wickets is going to be a struggle with the old ball plus Bashir bowling rubbish this Test .... his drop costing dearly to ENG now
 
Along with other reasons already discussed, I believe that red kookaburra is not suitable Pakistan conditions. It loses shine and seam little too fast.

Pakistan should trial Duke and SG red in domestics.
 
Pope has to be the dumbest captain going around. 47 overs. Leach just 3 overs. But Woakes is bowling bouncers with 47 over ball.

England players have no fitness issues. They can field for 300 overs and still comeback and score 800+.

This is assuming England fields first again. If England bats first in the 2nd test bowlers will get 2 day rest.

Yes Pakistan must hope for that. They should extend England's stay today as much as possible anyway .

But with some luck they can win the toss again and put England out in the field for another 150-160 overs.

Issue is Pakistan's bowling attack.

Naseem is the only half decent bowler and they're playing a bowler short imo. They need to drop a batter, maybe Saim, and pick the extra bowler .

And replace Abrar with their best domestic spinner.

It's a pathetic bowling attack.

England should search for good leg spinners who can turn or stick with leach

If Stokes comes back they can kick Bashir out and use Root as office. This way they will have even longer batting line up.

Captaincy is not the only thing though. As we saw in India, England got exhausted too while fielding a lot more than we did. Saw that especially in Rajkot.

Just look at their fielding effort even in this innings and their drops. Pure exhaustion.

Carse won't have anything by the next Test too

Another long bowling innings first up will finish these guys off.

Only issue is Pakistan's minnow level bowling attack. I'd back Hasan Mahmud/Taskin/Mehidy/Rana to win it against England in that scenario.

But PAK attack is only better than Ireland/Afghans . That's the problem
