What's new

England v India | 4th ODI | Old Trafford | [30/8/07]

You know, even when we lost our 7th wicket I had a sneaky feeling, just a gut feeling (a bit like the gut feeling Aamir Sohail had about Junaid Zia) that this would happen. If I was a betting man I would have put money on it and donated all the winnings to myself.

The Indian spinners have decided pretty much every game this series. When they take wickets, India wins. When they don't India loses.

Agarkar comes back now. He's been brilliant today.

what a selfless man you are.

Hash - you just said "we". I thought you were Pakistani? (no sarcasm).

86 partnership is quite something with a tailender.

Agarkar bowls the first bowl and Umpire signals "Aa galey lag jaa"
2 wides to start

Broad times a cover drive for perfection and gets 3 runs to get it down to 8 needed. He's played a fine innings today. A certain MOTM.

hold it

Sehwag could come on and get a hat trick

Oh, he isn't playing.

And 3 runs taken by Broad. Just 8 to go.

Congrats England. 3-1.
have you noticed how you're always too quick to jump the gun. Like 2 pages back in this thread you wrote England off.

This sort of batting is what I miss in the Pakistan team.

If this had been Razzaq and Afridi then Afridi would have tried to score 50 in 20 balls and Razzaq would have been on 4 off 80 balls, plus Pakistan would have lost the match!

But whoever is playing India becomes 'we' for me :D

And me as well (got me started) :D! Lets go down to the local and have a few and celebrate this amazing comeback!

I see. I am a bit like that too :)

Just 4 more to go.

And yes kabloee, I am quick to jump the gun. Its a habit. Problem?

I wonder where Tupac has been? You would imagine he lives by the computer how he was running his mouth and accusing others of not being there despite when they had a legit reason.

ooooh RP gets another to go through.

Last ball of the over.....AND THEY GET IT.

and there it is, England win the 4th ODI by 3 wickets and lead the series 3-1. Down in the dumps and these 2 have played sensible cricket, taking no risks and getting home easily. Bopara has showed why he is one of the finest young cricketers in England and Broad has shown he can be a very handy lower order batsman. Lots of promise for English ODI cricket.

p.s Is Indian "choke" discussion going to start again?

Great cricket match. This whole tour has been great cricket to watch.

England up 3-1 now.

With pleasure :D

Well done Broad and Bopara. England has 2 Bs . 15 overs ago India had it but nice fight back

Wow what a performance from the 2 Bs! Really got to feel for India though!
Are you kidding? Hell now. They weren't hard done by. They lost because of themselves.

I think cricinfo is going to capitulate

And Stuart Broad is the one to finish it off as England take a near loss to a victory by 3 wickets!

Partnership of 99 runs to finish it off, fantastic stuff!

Seems like Broad is becoming a modern day Rao with that batting average. :D

I know but still it's quite a heart breaking loss! It's as if you could had the pie on your plate, had the fork in your hand and even had your mouth open before some one stole it from you.

It's like your wife to be running off with Sarfraz Nawaz on your wedding night!

Congratulations to England. Gutty performance! Now we gotta win three straight but we can still do it. Let's go India on Sunday!

Oh I am sorry? Are you actually saying you don't live on your comptuer?

You are so quick to accuse people but when the time comes around...your the same. So next time try to keep the BS to a minimum.

NO I havent bro sorry! I hope to soon. Look on ticketmaster and see if you can get any tix and I am in! Actually maybe we can do a PP meet up in the first week of September with the_game, homer and invictus?

I'm so glad England won yesterday as a 2-2 scoreline in the progressing 7-match Series would have careated all sorts of suspicions especially given the way some of the England batsmen played rash strokes in the run-chase and the clout of the Indian betting mafia.

The most stark fact was the difference in the body language of the Indian fielders in the last 20 overs as opposed to when Powerplays were in operation. This cruel defeat must have hurt their team and supporters really badly - supporters who were going bonkers when the seventh English wicket fell, only to be saddened later on.

quality fightback by england ... almost an Australian style fight-back .... for me thats one of the best things about watching cricket ... rescue acts with the bat... 2 batsmen, particularly the lower middle order, fighting it out and gradually bringing their team out of a hopeless or near hopeless situation and making it an achievable one.

Congrats to England!, Bopara and Broad held their nerve under pressure and got their team home in the end, well played.

India are right under pressure, but the series is not over yet, India's done it before and they can do it again. I don't think any Indian is saddened by the defeat, just shocked and disappointed we could not finesh it off.

The feilding from India with those unlucky edges cost India about 45 runs yesterday, the feilding was very poor and at times hilarious.

Well, the least the many from the team itself looked sad as they trudged off after the shocking loss.

You can expect that after their shocking loss, they had England for 114-7 with 99 still required to win and could not produce a breakthrough.

Yah, must have felt terrible.

I think we have finally won a home ODI series. India can't win 3 one dayers on the bounce in these conditions.

Don't get overconifident, the same thing was said during the 1999, 2003 world cup(after defeat against Australia) and many times before. India needs their experienced players to click big time in the last 3 one dayers.

But the Indian players must be feeling so down and shocked after this last result.

Playa said:
Nope, they've moved on, that's in the past.

Maybe but still imagine being so close to victory and making the series 2-2 but then not being able to get Stuart Broad out and thus going 3-1 down. It must be shattering for the confidence. Especially after such a long tour....I think the Indian players probably just want to go home. They won the test series, it's not like they haven't achieved anything.

i think you need to take a look at your posts. You say you are not at your computer but you have been posting on other threads in PakPassion.

If you look at mine, I have literally ONLY posted in the India/England game threads. Very rarely have I posted somewhere else, somtimes in time pass. And usually I'm watching the game on TV. I come to my room to post after a break. And still I make sure to post whether India does well or India loses.

So don't accuse me. By the way, the game didn't end by 3, it ended at 5:15.
