I said to Andrew Miller before the game on the live chat!

Nederland oh Nederland
Jij bent een kampioen
Wij houden van Oranje
Om zijn daden en doen

Gefeliciteerd Oranje!!!

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Take that ECB
That's what you get for being so arrogant only looking to the Ashes
That's what you get for trying to screw the Associates to ensure you're the only test team in Europe

LOVE IT

Well if England beat Pakistan and Pakistan beat Netherlands, it will get complicated!

Oh dear .. England just pulled a Pakistan :p

More or less even's things out. We lost to Ireland, they just lost to Holland.

Now the fun begins. This put pressure on pakistan and more on Eng. If Pakistan wins, they are thru. If not, they might still be able to beat Holland. If not, they never deserved it!

ok guys we really really need to bet england now. preferably england and netherlands, but if we have to lose one i hope to god its not england, then the group is wide open...

So it means England will go into Pakistan game, with knowing that if they lose, they are out of the tournament within 3 days?
They can start preparing for ashes in 3 more days!! :)

Fortunately netherland's NRR is pretty low

holy ****!!! i have never jumped up and down like this before. trully Amazing!!!!!!!!!

If Pakistan can't beat England, they have to make sure they don't lose by a big score, or it gets rained off!
Then a big victory against Netherlands should do it!

Actually, silly as it may sound, Pakistan go through if BOTH their matches get rained off!

why do i get the feeling Atherton is lovin it? He is not showin any feelin in england loosing, instead laffin!!!!

This is exactly what Pakistan was needed. This dutch victory should inspire them to work hard and be hopeful in any scenerio.

Weather forecast makes it very possible.

Now listen to everyone say "Oh this is Twenty20, this is an example of how anyone can win"

This will be really irritating because Netherlands played out of their skins and deserve this win

so if it rain on sunday - pakistan get one point and so do england

and if it rains again on tuesday - pakistan get 1 point and so do holland

SO HOLLAND = 3 POINTS
PAKISTAN = 2 POINTS
ENGLAND = 1 POINTS

so pakistan can go through without playing a game! I LIKE!!!!

what if pak eng is rained out?

hahahahaha cya england!

Oh great news. Now I will have to stay up late to watch this. I was hoping for an early night.

I know the highlights are on BBC, does anyone know if they will be on BBC I Playa aswell?

Eng did not attack when they had 2. They brough Anderson and Adil very late. By that time, dutch had built the confidence. very poor captaincy

England should've got around 180-200 with the start they got being 100 for 0 in 11 overs at one stage!

England gonna come hard at us...I hope we beat em and then beat the Dutch..I've always said our most important game will be against the Dutch...cmon Pakistan

then Pakistan cannot lose to Holland or Pakistan is out. If it goes to super over then Pakistan are in as NRR will be 0 for Pakistan and higher than England

Oh right.

Man the friggin dutch have complicated everything.

best to just beat them both; I hope we can do it

From overs 11-20 of their innings and overs 1-10 of the Netherlands innings, England played like they were in a friendly. Collingwood summed it up by saying we thought we had enough runs. We should have scored at least twenty more from 100-0. It was lackadaisical stuff - England had all the chances to win that match and threw them away.

I'm very pleased for Holland though, they deserved to win. I'm happier for them than I would have been for England because they were there to play a match whereas England were there to swagger around and be the big boys that they think they are even if their performances for four years haven't justified it. Without Pietersen and Flintoff, we're minnow.

I must admit to having been rooting for the Dutch to get those last few runs. I would have been gutted for them if they hadn't managed it. They were the better side on the day and thoroughly deserved their win.

I know I don't take Twenty20 all that seriously, but I would have felt the same way if it was the normal World Cup.

right on!!!!
Holland wanted it much more today, you could feel it in their enthusiasm and passion.
England thought the game was over after 102-0 and they stumbled on their own overconfidence, not to mention the shocking fielding as well, they couldn't get a throw in from anywhere on the field

Deep down Harv, I sense you are not overly disappointed - given your views on T20.

After the Stanford debacle - now this, do you think the 'men in suits' will sit down and take a long hard look at their overall approach to T20?

Netherland's glorious final over

Netherlands held their nerve to record a sensational upset in the opening match of the ICC World Twenty20, beating England by four wickets. With seven needed from the final over, here's what happened

Well, what an opening match we've had, ladies and gents. It's all coming down to the last over. Seven to win for Netherlands! Who'd have predicted this? Not I, sir. Collingwood's chatting to Broad and Anderson, and it'll be Broad going around the wicket

19.1

Broad to ten Doeschate, 1 run, cracked out to the off side, Broad fields and should run him out - but misses! That's the fourth run-out opportunity they've missed tonight alone

England cannot just protect runs - they must aim for wickets. They're going to run whatever happens. 6 from 5

19.2

Broad to Schiferli, 1 run, tries to smack it out to cover but can't time it. Broad fields and does a Jonty Rhodes, diving onto the stumps. But as his right hand (holding the ball) hits the turf, he releases the ball - it's his hand which smashes the bails! Not out

Boos around the ground, but I'm afraid that's the right decision. Anyway - move on. Here we go, chaps. 5 runs from 4 balls

19.3

Broad to ten Doeschate, 1 run, Broad's dropped a wellied smash to a full toss! High above his head and it took a while to reach him

This is unbelievably, sickeningly tense. 4 from 3

19.4

Broad to Schiferli, 1 bye, he plays and misses, the ball flies through to keeper who is standing back - and they run a bye!

Schiferli injured himself during that run-out attempt with Broad. Damaged shoulder, by the looks of it. This is as mad as a box of frogs

19.5

Broad to ten Doeschate, 1 run, another smash, but he picks out mid-on! Only a single. Good grief, this is so tense

Just two runs needed ... off one ball! Hundreds of emails flying in - no time to read them I'm afraid, but thanks anyway. Foster's going to stand up to the stumps and Anderson's giving Broad advice. Foster's actually going back now. Broad around the wicket. Remember: 2 needed from 1

19.6

Broad to Schiferli, 2 runs, goes for a club, Broad again fields - they run, and Broad has all three stumps as he collects it in his follow through. But he misses, and they run an overthrow. They're through and Netherlands have scored a brilliant, outstanding upset here for the first match at Lord's!

shouldn't the thread be called broads great throwing skills??

The strange thing is that it was a very good last over from Broad, nearly every delivery was yorker length, but he lost his nerve with 2 run out opportunities. The last one all he had to do was throw it to the fielder stood next to the stumps, instead he went for glory.

yup he definitely bowled well, but England lost because of their shcoking fielding and Holland actually played like they wanted it more badly

not yet...
if they lose the England match they will be stuck in a corner with the only way out being a nice big comprehensive victory against netherlands
