Bopara is there as a batsman , I do not think England depend much on his bowling.

true but the way he was outperforming Australian pacers made the sky commentators think as if they have found a good /half-decent allrounder lol.

Eng being exposed badly hete..pak will have a massive challenge against the saffers..

South Africa to bat till about just after tea. Then delcare. That should give them a lead of about 250+

Then its game on. I think South Africa will come hard at England.

But England batsmen should save this!!

IDK how other feels abt it now, if these two keep continues without anymore fall of wickets, no points giving English the same opertunity to demorilize your bowler, in ultimately prooven flat pitch. Rather keep piling up the score board & personal records. Let the English sweat more on field.

This year of our test cricket has mostly reminded me of what Willem Dafoe says in Platoon. Something along the lines of you can only travel the world and hand people's backsides to them for so long without it eventually happening to you.

South African Lead: 129 runs (Lunch, day 4)

I think it w'd be a draw though. The Oval wicket is full of runs

Even if RSA manage to build a substantial first innings lead (250+) by tea today, it is debatable whether they would be able to dismiss England in 3.5-4 sessions. For much of England's first innings, the South African bowling did not look all that menacing or threatening on this pitch

But 4th innings batting is all about pressure; will be interesting to see if RSA bowlers (having the advantage of knowing that they cannot lose this game) are able to exert more pressure on the english batsmen in the second innings

They should really go into ODI mode now. Get maximum runs in this session and then declare on a massive high, hoping that Steyn can get England's top order quickly and Tahir can do half of what Ajmal did to England.

No South African batsman has scored a test triple hundred yet. Could Amla 251* be the first one?

DeVillier's 278* vs Pak in Abu Dhabi in 2010 is RSA's highest individual test innings

England have been quite disciplined - no extras in that session but it just hasn't worked out for them, no help from the pitch, and they cannot get the ball to swing. South Africa will presumably bat through until tea at least, by which time they should be perhaps 250 ahead.

Pakistan have a HUGE challenge on their hands with the South Africa tour - our bowling is weak and I fear the likes of Smith, Amla will take us apart.

LOL at people saying Swann is streets ahead of Tahir.

Tahir was also bowling in much worse conditions as It was a 1st day pitch.

England being crushed by a vastly superior team
Aussies will be relieved, England finally get their backs kicked for that 517/1

English bowlers might be giving their Indian counterparts a run for their money.
The tests in India will be interesting.

What happened to the English pace? These 90mph bowlers struggling to break 80??

England have 1 fielder inside the circle for Broad. They've just given up and are waiting for the declaration. How #1 of them :D

no way they can win, best to contain runs really. Perhaps by doing that SA will give a small target to chase, and they'll be able to bat out a draw.

It's gonna be a draw anyway. SA just haven't batted quick enough. Should have gone faster today.

They need to go for it, it's pointless conserving wickets if the declaration is to come by tea.

Kallis should retire(as in go back to the pavilion) and let de villiers toy around with some flat English bowling

Watching it now. Looks pretty dead out there for bowlers. Wonder if we can get a draw.

i think they will play till 10-15 overs left for the end of the day. pitch is flat. if it breaks up they can cause havoc tomorrow with Tahir Morkel and Co.

btw people we ain't playing in Colombo SSC

Amla 1 short of the highest ever test score by a S.A and could he become 1st to get 300?

hats off to the dude Hashim Amla. guess saffers don't need KP and trott after all :)

Well played Amla and good to see a sizeable English crowd giving him a deserved ovation.

S.A should put there foot down now and just hammer england bowlers in submittion and declare at tea or maybe even just before. They will need atleast 120-30 overs here to take 10 more england wickets on this surface.

146 overs left in the game minus 10 more of batting and 2 for the changeover.

We will survive 134 overs in defensive mode if we bat well, but if we bat badly then it will be all over by tea tomorrow.

Don't know what is holding Kallis back, he needs to step it up or SA will lose the chance to strike England while their down.

Hoping once Amla reaches the triple figure mark he goes for some big strokes. 150 up for Kallis now, well played.

Now can Kallis get to a double? That's the problem in situations like these, so many milestones come up and you don't know when to declare.

This is the most Swann has ever bowled in a test innings, the last was in Bridgetown.

Amla in these last 10 or so minutes has just lost his timing.. possibly getting tired?

Big shout by Bresnan & the England fielders, will they call for the review? No they don't. Massive shout though!

Amla trying to be aggresive but obviously it's not easy after batting for so long.

I think smith needs to declare at Tea otherwise i can see him regretting decision if game ends in a draw!

3 runs to Amla, mistimed shot off the inside edge. Amla definitely has lost his timing in the last 15 minutes or so. Few wafts outside off stump too.

Amla on strike, 7 runs to get ! I want him to get to the triple.. I then want to see AB bat!

Dot ball to finish the over. 591-2. Amla on strike. Can he get to the 300 figure this over. 5 runs to get.

Absolutely hammered by Kallis, bit of a slog but who cares. Double ton is on the cards! 161*

What happened to the much vaunted English bowling attack :)))

England bowlers have again been found out on flat, sub-continental type wickets. And considering England lost 7 wickets in 118 runs in the 1st innings where South African bowlers managed to take wickets, the England bowling attack has been exposed somewhat here, but credit must be given to the South African batsmen.

Outstanding innings from Amla and Kallis.
