Buttler has been held back by the ECB. It is a travesty that a player like him has been given 20 odd Tests only so far, and hardly any LOI games up the order.

Give him a consistent run in Tests and bat him at 4/5 in ODIs, and watch him fly.

de Villiers would not have been de Villiers under the conservative policies of ECB.

It’s gonna be an extremely tough task for our batsmen.

They will need to apply themselves and put a high price on their wicket - like they did at Lords. However, with the pitch playing up, over cast conditions and the momentum well and truely with England - it’s going to be an extremely difficult task.

If we can somehow bat for the next day or so and match England’s first inning score - we can set them a target of 150-200 and give ourselves an outside chance, but to do that our young and inexperienced line up will need to bat out of their skin.

We will need Imam and Azhar to give us a solid start at the top, Shafiq and Sarfraz need to step up and then the likes of Shadab, Faheem, Amir and Hassan need to deliver at the back of the innings as well.

If England keep expectations from Buttler that he will score centuries, then Buttler will be out of the Test team very soon. Buttler is an impact player but he doesn't have the technique or the temperament to make it big in the Test arena in terms of heavy scoring. He's a great number 7 for England and will take the game away from the opposition very quickly with his quickfire 60-70's as that is what he is comfortable in doing.

Right now Buttler looks a million dollar because he is the form of his life. The true character of his ability will come when he's not in form and England are 110-5. At that time, Buttler will struggle to impose himself especially in Australia and India because of a lack of temperament.

Overall he's a very good player but as of now he's a richer version of Chris Cairns. Need to do a hell of a lot more to cement himself in the team. If the ball swings, I can see him struggling against Bhuvi Kumar.
