The problem for bhai was, he was out-bhaid by Parnell today and the beard power for today was given to Parnell bhai, but Parnell bhai sucks so it was a waste and unfortunately for bhai without the beard power he just cant perform.
So, unless Amla bhai comes up against a team with a similar beard, or Parnell plays again, he will rediscover his form.

What are the official requirements for being given the title "bhai" Mamoon. There should be a clear path for people to obtain such a prestigious award![]()
If Amla scores a hundred and win SA a KO game, some people would be really disappointed.
Better do some good performances in knockout otherwise no use scoring so much against WI and being in top form just before this WC started. AB and Amla are in peak right now so it's time to step up and make it count. Steyn bowled very well today so no complain there. Tahir is doing very well.
I want performances mainly in knockout.
Terrible WC for bhai fan club so far. Amla bhai might pull a Dhoni and win Saffers a knockout game, who knows?
Amla looked very shaky today and was clearly nervous.
He is too good a player to continue to fail in big matches, I think a big one will come in the coming matches, hopefully not against us though...
My brigade is growing at an alarming rate so get in because seats are limited.
Bhai Association ® not being able to acquire any new members lately.

i changed side to bhai brigade mamoon.... so there's 1 new member in amla brigade.
Can you give us Tahir back? we will return after WC!
Shami Bhai
Actually what is Kohli's brigade called?
Lol why? What did Kohli do to the bhai brigade? Not really a Kohli brigade; basically an anti-bhai brigade.
Kohli happens to be one of the prominent enemies of bhai brigade.
Lol why? What did Kohli do to the bhai brigade?
Tendulkar scoring meaningless runs. SRT was a great player but could never influence games in tough conditions.

We should have a proper name for this brigade. I don't like the "anti-bhai brigade". Implies too much hatred. Something more subtle please.
I'd take Kohli every day of the week ahead of Hashim if I'm honest. Both excellent players, but Kohli can perform more often in crunch scenarios plus he seems to be a bit more aggressive in terms of SR, so win-win for Kohli IMO.
In tests maybe Hashim has a case, but in LO's I think Kohli wins
In tests, Amla is miles ahead, there is no case for Kohli there.
i wud like to see kohli average in south africa, australia, new zealand on first overseas tour??? and will w8 till hashim cumes to our india....kohli nd abd in ol formats nyday ...

Seeing how all it takes is a 90 odd in a KO game to become an ATG batsman in some peoples books, Amla should get there too.![]()
Dhoni has been delivering under pressure for a decade now. Nerves of steel, everyone knows that. WC final inning reinforced something we already knew.
Amla bhai on the other hand hasn't done much. Last 8/9 chases of 270+ runs have been bottled by bhai. In this era of flat tracks and field restrictions, this is a shame. Even if he hits runs in one inning, it will still be an exception to the norm.

I still get goosebumps from that tri series b/w aus, india and sl. Sri Lanka had made 320+ runs or something and if India were to quality for the finals, they had to make that score in 42-45 overs.
Kohli got into this beast mode and got the total down in 37 odd overs!.. and this was in Australia.
I still can't believe that match. I don't think Amla stands a chance when Kohli goes crazy like that. Amla is a great technician and will outperform kohli in tests... But Kohli is an overall better LO cricketer.
yo my aspiring rapper boy- this no rapper forum you know, you look more fool than cool the way you type
SRT was a great player but could never influence games in tough conditions. Amla must make sure he does not become a bilateral bully.
.
did i asked u? nd u look like having sum kind of inferior complex kind f guy.wat was ur point?..its my opinion nd well i still think abd nd kohli over amla in ny form of the game nyday...the way both can change the course of the game gives them more points in my sense ....he just had 1 bad series only...still early to say but i m sure he will play many innings in future too which will be remembered alwaz...
Are you for real? We are talking ODIs and Sachin is one of the biggest big game players. Has one of the highest winning 100s, highest averages in finals of tournament in ODIs, only time we have won ODI series in Australia he scored in both finals. He was highest scorer in the world cups twice, was instrumental in India reaching semis in 96, finals in 2003 and winning in 2011. Only time he really failed in 2011 final, one single match
Dude, SMS language is banned on this forum. So people are just politely letting you know before you get banned
Mamoon actually admits Bhai is a superb test cricketer. W63 wouldn't be caught dead praising SRT. But now W63's new obsession is Misbah.Mamoon-Amla relation reminds me of W63-Sachin. Legendary poster vs Legendary cricketer.)

Ok here's a small test.
SRT's 98 against Pakistan is widely regarded as a great knock.
I would say without Yuvraj and Dravid, it was another match losing knock.
How?
Let's go back to 1996 India vs Australia match
India were chasing 259.
SRT was LITERALLY toying with the Aus attack comprising of McGrath, Warne, etc.
Scored 90 at 107 SR when we were 143-3 when he got out (to Mark Waugh stumped - it was annoying no doubt).
100 odd runs to win. Plenty of overs left to win.
Same way he got out 177 chasing 272 against Pakistan at Centurion.
100 odd runs to win. Plenty of overs left to win.
Against Pakistan , Dravid and Kaif tuk tuked and Yuvi batted properly and we won.
Against Australia, Majrekar and co tuk tuked but got all out in 48 overs and we lost by 16 runs.
One innings is hailed a clutch knock.
Another is hailed as match losing knock.
Another example...in the recent series against NZ, we lost 0-4. Kohli was at his murderous form. Scored 2 centuries. Still we lost 0-4.
Why?
Cos no one else stepped up enough. And we paid the price.
Kohli is considered the greatest match winner currently and yet he couldn't save us from 0-4 in a series where he knocked 2 centuries.
Story of SRT's life.
But still I rate Kohli more clutch than SRT. No doubt. He has the potential to be something supremely special like SRT and Viv.
Amla scored a million runs in India so I'm pretty sure you don't have to wait to see him perform in your India.
If we talk about WC KOs, following are the matches he played, and I don't think any of them he "influenced" so as to leave his impact / stamp on WCs.
1. 1996 QF : 30 odd, nothing special.
2. 1996 SF : 60 odd, the only good innings in a KO, but was far from enough.
3. 2003 SF : Against Kenya, not much to talk about.
4. 2003 Final : Failed completely.
5. 2011 QF : Good 50, but didn't settle the match, wasn't a serious contender for MOM. A good innings nevertheless.
6. 2011 SF : One of those innings which could have been regarded great had so many catches not been dropped, but o/w scratchy.
7. 2011 Final : Failed completely.
So all in all, despite being part of 6 WCs, he hasn't played those "impact" innings which take the match away from the opposition in KOs . It's something which makes him pale in comparison to Viv, Dhoni and Ponting, who got big hundreds in WC finals. Even Aravinda, made 1996 his own due to those wonderful innings in SF and Final where he took his team through.
That's true, I rate his 90 against Australia in 1996 his best WC innings.. purely for the stroke production and context of the match where he was losing wickets around him and kept going against a focused bowling attack.
So Sachin also needed his team-mates to chip in and help him out when chasing down scores. Yet, Amla is expected to be the guy to score the winning runs each time for some reason.

Amla has been poor so far no hiding rom that.
Form can't be an excuse either, he just scored 20 million runs recently and battered NZ in a series prior to that as well.
His mate AB has been clumsy as well, but has a good track record in ICC events I'm sure he has a few good knocks in him.
Amla is a good player but he has to be careful and not turn into a Tendulkar scoring meaningless runs. SRT was a great player but could never influence games in tough conditions. Amla must make sure he does not become a bilateral bully.
I have confidence in him though as he is a clutch player in tests, maybe he can transfer that to ODI's as well.
i think it is time for you to leave the internet. If we talk about WC KOs, following are the matches he played, and I don't think any of them he "influenced" so as to leave his impact / stamp on WCs.

He was TOYING with them and then got stumped to Mark Waugh.
Frustrating.
I blame him for the dismissal. If it was a beauty, I wouldn't mind.
Wrong analogy bro.
Yes SRT needed others to chip in WCs but he did have iconic innings.
What is Amla's equivalent to SRT's Sharjah knocks, CB Series finals, Centurion, consistent (but not mind blowing) knocks in knock out games?
None.
When he gets them, he will be rated.
As far as I have seen, when the pressure is on, Amla crumbled. All the time. As of now.
i think it is time for you to leave the internet.
The difference in contribution matters.. it's not like Amla is the lone warrior in a losing cause. I would respect him more if he does play brilliant lone handed innings in a losing cause in WC big matches. There is a reason Klusener is regarded highly despite that SF 1999 not going his way.
Actually people who have not seen him play, don't recognise that situation in 90's was much different from 2003 as you rightly pointed out, in terms of him being a one-man army.
Dravid and Yuvraj proved in 2003, that Sachin getting out doesn't mean the match ended, but in 1996, Indian public as well as dressing room, and more importantly opposition felt the match has ended. To a lesser extent, I see the same phenomenon with ABDV now, just look at the lift in Indian team when AB got run out.
So Sachin also needed his team-mates to chip in and help him out when chasing down scores. Yet, Amla is expected to be the guy to score the winning runs each time for some reason.
His innings against Pakistan in the UAE, against England in England and a few others that I had already shown Electron come to mind. It is on you to actually be informed about these.
The analogy is very accurate since it proves that openers cannot be expected to finish off games regularly. Simply batting 50 overs alone take a herculean effort.
That's true, I rate his 90 against Australia in 1996 his best WC innings.. purely for the stroke production and context of the match where he was losing wickets around him and kept going against a focused bowling attack.
Pressure situation?
No one is asking him to finish games.
His game drops so much in pressure games. You can see it.
Agreed. Winning single-handedly is too much to expect from a guy who averages 29 @ SR of 78 against non-minnows in multi-nation tournaments.
It drops while chasing. First innings have there own pressures and he's handled it wonderfully.
Which is why Dhoni is called overrated by many.![]()
Exactly.
Put SRT in today's team and he will show people what an outrageous match winner he is.
I asked the Kohli (0-4 in NZ) question once before in another thread and was met with a deafening silence.
Reg ABDV, he doesn't play with dunces. He plays with chokers.
He needs to come up the order and control the game (if he gets out with 100 to go and his team loses, I won't blame him) or he needs to finish off games at the bottom. He does neither in pressure games. That's my issue with him.
