Stupid batting by Australia, they just needed to tap around and aim for 230 odd. Why so aggressive when you know how this pitch behaves. All these Aussie players play in IPL, don't they know how Dhoni's CSK plays at this very same venue?

Yea such a change. I am so pleased with this.

Pacers can be deadly too. Just need to bowl accurately. Rauf can be handy in 2 faced pitches.
That's right. But, Rauf and Shaheen will have to be careful not to exert too much. The humidity is high and cramps/injuries may set in. Although it's October, the temp is not so low and the high humidity will create problems.

With this current playing XI, I have doubts about Australia's chances of making it to the semifinals. They missed an opportunity by not selecting Khawaja as an opener, and I believe Head should be given preference over Labuschagne

Looks like India will play their matches against SENA on spin tracks whilst playing the Asian sides on belters
Lucknow against England, spin friendly.

Dharamsala against New Zealand, guaranteed loss there. But anyway I think even on spin tracks this New Zealand team is better, we can't play Santner and Sodhi.

Eden Gardens against South Africa which is our bounciest venue since Ganguly became CAB president.

Head? Very reason Labu is in the squad because of head's absence. He is injured. Out of the world cup.

Ashwin to Green, OUT
Cameron Green c Pandya b Ashwin 8 (20b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40

They have planned the fixtures meticulously to their advantage. Another example being they've played their opening game in the WC (today) last out of all the sides participating in the competition. But guess that's part of having host advantage.

Exactly. Never before has strike rotation been so important during the age of cricket.

Highlighting why aggressive batting is not the be all end all, in fact, in today's case, it has been a liability.

Yes the pitch has been conducive for spin bowlers but there's no one better than Ashwin, Jadeja and K.Yadav when it comes to getting the most out of these conditions.

I can't imagine Shadab and Nawaz wreaking this kind of havoc if they were bowling in Chennai today.

India should restrict them an minimal as possible and score those quickly.. Net run rate is game changer in such multinational tournaments.

Australia need to drop one of the 3 seamers and pick a second spinner

They needed 3 spinners today

Don't think we'll need to wait till our last game to know whether we'll be playing the semis or not. We should get there with our eyes closed. Main problem is knockout games.

My apologies for the lack of awareness regarding his injury. Khawaja should have been included, and a more capable batsman should have been chosen for the middle order. Labuschagne's stats do not meet the required standard

Getting to semis is no big achievement for Indian team, winning knockout games is

Garbage batting from Australia

Too easy for India. They are terrible against spin, it was evident when they lost the series against Sri Lanka. They would hope that there are no more spin friendly pitches.

Australia's batting is extremely inferior to India, NZ, South Africa and England. They need Warner and Smith to fire otherwise it is a bust.

PAk thankfully has saud and rizwan to deal indian spinners babar will be dud vs their spin.

Australia has lost 5 out of last 6 ODIs, so definitely a rough patch for them also.

I think they are a an outdated side and not enough fresh blood as well. Warner, Smith have been around for so long with diminishing returns, their most dangerous and in-form batsman Head is out of action, no Agar in a SC WC and the trio of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins look tired, old, jaded.

Both England and Australia are weaker compared to their 2019 selves.

No wonder Smith, Labu, and Warne were spinning in the warm ups. Wouldn't be surprised if they bowl a few overs today!

One of the three seamers might as well try their hand bowling spin here

Any team would have had their tasks cut out here. One of the best Test spin bowling combo in history is bowling in tandem. Also one of the most impactful wristies of our time bowling as well alongwith Bumrah/Siraj

I have seen we let the Tail to score so go for kill now. They can stil score 220

True. We believe in #AsianBloc and want to be hospitable to our Asian brothers . On this track, Bobby's average will be wrecked.
They can let all Asian sides bat first and score 300-350 (feeling great about themselves)

And then chase it down in 40 overs

Nah england is still a monster side.

Why don't india bring back bumrah and siraj and run through tail.

Zampa alone is a massive threat. He does have fond memories here last time againstt India. Triggering a collapse when India was safely coasting towards 250 total.

Why didn't Australia call Swepson or Lyon? How can you go to a world cup in India with just one specialist spinner in Zampa? Poor squad selection, doesn't make sense.

This is the one pitch that will help them. Outside these pitches they will be bullied.

India are giving away some very poor bonus runs to tailenders. Cummins and Starc are definitely tailenders on this deck.

The likes of Shadab, Chacha & Nawaz must be licking their lips looking at this spin friendly track! 30 overs of struggle for any opposition. Issue is apart from skip and Rizwan rest of the batting line up looks vulnerable to spin, they're far more comfortable attacking pace. But anything above 230-240, Pakistan will comfortably defend on such a pitch.

Tail has wagged a lot recently against us, Australia still not out of the contest.

I believe I wrote it just yesterday - if somehow ICC reverts back to 1990s playing conditions…. even with current playing rules, which is stacked up to batting (read slogging), for first 2-3 years, most of the current teams will struggle to play out 40 overs batting first. And if they are to face 20 overs of Warne, Saq, Mushi, Murali or Kumble on this track, 35 will be challenging.

We can see ball is turning here, but is this unplayable? Remember, spinners are bowling with two balls, two machine stitched kookaburras with very little upright seem.

Not a pancake, but I believe against same Indian attack, IND, SRL or PAK of 1990s, batting first would have crossed 250 here.

Aussies won't give up so easily...that's why they are a champion team
