What's new

India [145, 49/0] roll over England [112, 81] inside 2 days with 10-wicket win in 3rd Test; lead 2-1

Because Indians put close to 300 in the last test in both inning. Eng has been batting like an associate team in all innings as soon as the ball started turning. That's why I am harsher on Eng.

I totally agree with your comment, it was the other poster who claimed England where a poor advertisement on test cricket because they couldn’t cross 200 in this game, I just asked form him to mention India as well because they collapsed to on this wicket. Credit where credit is due India handled the pitch better , but I was looking forward to at least a 4 day day night game between 2 strong teams.

lol...

As much as there was no scoreboard pressure, this is some batting. :))

As sunny said, its all in the mind.

England team selection was poor. Pink ball helps pacers a bit more. Moment they saw the dry pitch they should have dropped a seamer.

India's last 3 batsmen are worth 0 to 1 run lol So if India is 5 down it is like 8 down. But England despite having better batting depth, despite batting first failed to take advantage.

This is what I was talking about .., Use your feet... yes, it is easier with 50 runs to chase, but you can't play spin without using your feet.

Wow what an epic victory...India absolutely bossed this game. Congrats to all my fellow Indians...WTC Finals here we come :srini

England have got no-one else to blame. They've been absolutely shambolic against the SLA of Axar and clearly misread the wicket evident by their bowling combination.

This was surely not a 112 in thefirst innings wicket.

congratulations India....completely destructed this clueless English team

Are you giving us hint that worst is yet to come? Are India now simply going to produce quick sand for a pitch? Some Indian fans defending of the pitch is shameless.

Congratulations India, thoroughly deserved win! Once again no other batsman learning from Rohit's masterclass in how to bat in such conditions. Pretty horrible batting all-round on both sides

Looking forward to tomorrow... third day is always the best day to bat on

Awesome win, will we get the points or not? Losing on this pitch after winning toss and some mad selection for the team lol- Eng

Job well Done. No time for sentiments.

The Juggernaut must continue.

Almost there in WTC Final, exciting times ahead.

Why don't these fans not defend their players and blame it all on the pitch? lol.

Indians are ok with calling out our players as opposed to the pitch.

You can cry all you want. Both the teams played on the same wicket and England even had the benefit of batting first after winning the toss.

Don't know what part of my post implied that "worst is yet to come".... Or did another Indian win made you dizzy and unimaginative?

I'd like to know whose decision it was to play a Archer-Broad-Anderson-Leach bowling attack.

I am going to call this game a "Two Day International".

We have Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Now we have a new format, TDI for short :))

Yes, some posters going too far in morals and spirit of cricket.

The pitch is no doubt poor but its same for both team. Its not 'dangerous' as well.

We don't have to prove to anyone. We had a job in hand and we delivered when it matters.

Move on to the 4th test.

Not only that, they won the toss as well! So they can't even blame losing the toss. So whats next best, blame the pitch!

Makes me wonder what would have happened if they had played Axar in place of Nadeem in the first Test.

That was a blunder. They have Stokes to fill in if needed.

Exactly. As soon as you saw the lineups, with England playing that bowling attack, and India having Ashwin, Washington and Axar, you realised they had made a serious blunder. If Root can take a 5-fer, then what could Bess have done

Players of the 90s had the luxury of planting their front foots and play the ball because they knew they would rarely be given out lbw on the front foot. By early & mid 200s hawkeys came in and umpires started giving the batsmen out on front foots.(pre DRS)

Also the lbw law changed. I sometimes doubt that Swann would have taken 250 wickets had he come up in the eighties or nineties.

Don't think too much would have changed. A pitch where Root gets a fifer, surely Nadeem can do no worse.

I doubt it. Nadeem was far too slow in the air. He also lacked the guile of Ashwin. Root picking fifer (mostly our tail) is something to do with our own batting.

England really got lucky in the first test, first with the toss and then with Nadeem in our XI.

They thought it would be an Adelaide type affair with a bit of evening dew and the ball swinging about under the lights.

lol.

This guy has been sooking non stop about the Indian pitches since 2nd test. Guess what? We've won both those tests. You get the drift!

Questions would not have been raised had India posted a good first innings total. But Joe Rootharan of all people gets a fifer and Indians are considered as one of the best players of spin. Those supporting the pitch and blaming the players seriously should think neutrally.

They can't base their selection policy for a match based upon the conditions of one session. This is India, not Australia. 2 front-line quicks supported by Stokes would be plenty to exploit any swing under lights. For the majority of play, they needed both Bess and Leach here supported by Root. Massively misread the conditions, and the opposition did not

Which world you are living in? India lost the title of best players of spin after Sehwag left. They have been losing matches because of spinners both home and overseas. Lyon, Moeen, Okeefe have all won test matches against India.

I know current corp of Indian players don't have the skillset of yesteryear but still when you look at the present scenario, they have the best.

Cos they don't have to face their own spinners.

Swap spinners and England would have won this test.

I didn’t get to watch the game but dknthings wrong when the test is finishing in two days and Root is taking a fifer

Ashwin hit a hundred in a dustbowl against Leach and blocked Lyon the whole day for a draw. Pant smashed Lyon to steal a victory. Sundar and Axar is no mug with the bat.

No mug with the bat doesn't mean they are infallible. They are not specialist batsmen.

They thought it would be an Adelaide type affair with a bit of evening dew and the ball swinging about under the lights.

Well, 2 seamers with Stokes would have been enough. I imagine how 2nd spinner is feeling seeing turning tracks and he is sitting on the sidelines.

Excellent win, looking forward to the WTC finale.

We will probably have to play in the middle of Sherwood forest under cloud cover with Anderson dressed up as a green forest deity next time we visit Eng :ds

Definitely happening.

Shortest Test match since WW2.

This Test will go down as the most doctored pitch in modern times.

India are far from a fearless team. To doctor a pitch to this extent shows how fearful India is. No wonder India's record away is poor.

Best chance for india win if they produce green wickets

Yea back to back series win in Australia is poor . If this is definition of poor than india gladly take this tag

Well, they don't have to face two gun spinners - Ashwin and Jadeja. I am not sure if they are the best.

Please stop pretending like India beat an all time great Oz team. India beat an average OZ team, and players whom they play against regullary in the IPL. Koi teer nahi mara!

If India's yardstick of achievement is Australia, then it explains their desperation to beat their past rulers, England, by doctoring pitches to this level.

Aiming low is key to Indian fans. Allows them to feel high.

Wonder what pitch will be used next game in the same stadium surely Eng wont go with the same team.

So what did you mean the pitch is not so bad? does it have to get worst? What you want ball disappearing into the pitch?

I cant really blame the players on last 2 wickets they were not test match wickets. To play good quality cricket you need good quality pitches and these two were not.

Only srilanka know how "fearful" Pakistan is.
Btw india defeated Aus in Aus in a two back to back series where your useless team couldn't even draw a single game since imaran Khan retired LoL

Enjoy the win and let others burn.. if there are genuine posts you can respond, the ones from that poster are just meant to trigger Indian posters.

Pitch was not good. Not unplayable tho.

But batting was awful.

My take.

That's all you got. Class D Oz win over OZ, and a Class B Oz win. What else?

2 back to back series over a 3rd/4th rank team. Great!

The fact that Indians have to drag Pakistan into this conversation when discussing the pitch of this current game says it all, just enjoy the win and admit the pitch was rubbish it’s not that hard.

Was the pitch that bad ?
Root picking up 5 wicket for 8 ?
Match finishing within 2 days that is ridiculous

India killing test cricket. This pitch should be reason enough to ban this stadium from hosting cricket matches for next 5 years. A test match just ended in 1 and a half day.

No amount of bad batting can make this shambolic performance possible and we are talking about two of best batting sides in the world here. Pathetic appalling abominable.

Shortest Tests in post-war era ending in a result (balls)

842 Ind v Eng Ahmedabad 2020/21 *
872 Aus v NZ Wellington 1945/46
883 Eng v SA Centurion 1999/00 +
893 Aus v Pak Sharjah 2002/03

* winner denoted first
+ two innings forfeited

Once the pitch is under prepared I stop worrying about how the players play.. No point first for test cricket the pitches should be properly prepared.

Well. Batsmenhas lost the ability to adapt to new conditions compared to previous eras. A domestic team from India would have batted better than either of the sides against spin.

Appalling lack of footwork + pink ball caused this. I hope we don't see many more D/N matches.

Let Pakistan even draw a match there forget about win .ye teer hi mara h jo Pakistan ke bas ki bat nahi h
