What's new

India [252] defeat New Zealand [217] by 35 runs to win the 5th ODI and win series 4-1

Dhawan is the biggest culprit here. Openers have to suss the conditions and play accordingly instead of wildly throwing the bat around.

The depressing thing for Indian fans is the ball isn't even doing that much.

Boult is a big wicket taking machine , has pace and swing both , at high pace if you pitch up , there is strong chance of making it tough for batsmen.

Honestly speaking, had Indian players not been paid in millions, I would have raised a question of deeper scrutiny of last game & this one. Stakes for a an Indian player to miss out IPL & central contract is too high, but some of the shots in last 14 wickets are beyond explainable.

Agree. Shocking frm indian standards

Indian batsmen traditional problem of struggling against left armers who bring the ball back in, is coming to fore. For some reason, the top order just doesn't pick them.

Glad VIjay shankar gets a hit. Success or failure he deserves to bat atleast once for a long time.

Kohli makes India look much better than they really are. Without him, they just can't do much esp. in foriegn conditions.

We already won the series. :kohli
First few times our bowlers have gotten the ball to move this series and you've been rolled for 92 and are currently 22/4...

It's not even unplayable conditions, it's the odd bowl we're getting right on the money.

But resting world no.1 fast bowler for the entire series and resting world no.1 batsman as well in the last 2 matches, giving chance to a rookie, deliberately batting first to test things out mean they don't care about 3-2
Obviously they do care. It's not a gully mohalla match and 5-0 is always better than 3-2.

We have beaten teams in Tests under much tough conditions. So go cry somewhere.

Your team got owned when it mattered and got blasted 3-0 I’m your own den.

Enjoy the 2 wins in pointless dead rubbers. :yk

No. If they care they would have fielded full strength team any time. 5-0 4-1, 3-2 all the same. That is why they rested shami as well in the last match.

But but but...
INDIA'S BENCH CAN BEAT EVERY TEAM EXCEPT ENGLAND
SMH

Well Pant was dropped. Shaw lost his place forever. Sending Gill in a tough match to start his career didn't work. But eventually he is our bench strength. Definitely those three names will haunt teams al ot in the future.

Lol. If we bowled first, your team would have been in the same situation as india. Shami has destroyed your top order on flat surfaces and I shudder to imagine what he could do to your hacks on this surface, if we had bowled first.

Like Umar akmal was the next kohli right?😂

Big opportunity for shankar here , needs to take his time and concentrate on rotation of strike.

Gill probably should have been sent later. Vijay has more sense of how the pitch behaves and plays accordingly. Gill was trying to play a shot of every ball.

If you only drop by when India’s getting mauled, but refuse to show even a hint of appreciation when India’s doing well, sorry if Indian fans don’t find your “neutral criticism” to be in good faith.

Just admit you’re rubbing it in lol

Which batsmen do we need to give runs for the WC? :afridi

Tbf Shankar looks decent. Way better than Rayudu.

Except Indian batsmen generally get where we expect them to reach. Most recent entries Shaw brilliant start to his career. Agarwal brilliant start to his career, Pant brilliatn start to his career.

Shankar in double figures... :wahab2 :salute

You go guy... please rid my mind off that Nidahas final performance...

Looks like no world record, not enough out there to get 6 more wickets for nothing.

Why are u trynna defend yourself by talking about pakistan?
Admit you are getting beaten right now then no hard feelings. If you're gonna hit those low blows then that is just sad.

Nothing to admit. If we lose, we lose - no shame in that. We managed to equal what England did here and they are rated higher than we are. Also, we have been far better than PAK/SL who got whitewashed 5-0 and 3-0 respectively. A 3-2 won is good enough for any team here.

Rayudu and Misbah batting together would be one helluva visual

Thanks to resting world no.1 bowler world no.1batsman.

Smart from Kane, give the middle order some runs for the WC :bm

Most of Indians in the squad are at their peak, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have players in all departments that are still new at this level.

NZ has figured out Dhawan is susceptible to the short ball.
