India v New Zealand | 2nd Test | Hyderabad | 12-16 November 2010

Ok so pretty much all square now.

As much as I hate to give India credit, the pitches they have put out for the last 4 Tests (2 vs us and these 2 against the hobbits) have been good wickets, the game has ebbed and flowed and been good to follow. Ugh.

Now go away India you still suck :P

yep ....pitch is good ..and here we really missed Zaheer ...:( ....hope for a better show from spinners in last session today

New Zealand have put up a fantastic fight in this series. They have been down and out several times, and come back brilliantly. Better than Australia did for sure! Who could have predicted that? I would have said 3-0 at the start of the series.

I said 3-0, all innings defeats :kapil

a HUGE credit to Vettori and his lads, this could be the making of a lot of them.

yes NZ shown very good fight ....but we played much better against Aussies.....so fault still @ our end.

NZ had been middling to rubbish for a while before this - losing 4-0 to Bangladesh was their lowest point, and they needed to turn that into a positive, to overhaul everything and start moving back up. looks like they have made a good start!

Yep good start from NZ ....world cricket cannot afford another team downfall...

Third hundred for McCullum this calendar year...good decision to give up the gloves and bat further up the order

Why is not Zak bowling?

I don't think we can't take any wicket without him.

Bhajji is now considered batsman as he scores century after century but fails to take wickets when needed.

Ojha seems to have become India's best bowler. You know things are bad when...

Injured.

Zaheer is of more value to Indian team than any of their batsmen.

if Pakistan could find a better wicketkeeper than Kakmal, there is a fine case for Kakmal to play as a specialist opener in ODI cricket. it's not like the other lower order batsmen have done very well, so no harm in playing a proper keeper down there.

Sreesanth removes Ross Taylor with a beauty...NZ effectively 60/3 with 110 overs left in the game. The result is still on.

Kiwis 201/3 - Lead is only 79

Another 2 wickets before close of play and India have a great chance of winning this match!

Kiwis 227/4 - Mcullum still there!

Lead is 105 with 6 wickets left! Game very much on at moment.

I would always advise adding two wickets to the current score...a result is very much on in that case

NZ will have to bat half of the day tomorrow atleast to be on the safe side.

I thought Brendon McCullum batted brilliantly today; he has all but saved the match. It would take a Pakistan-esque collapse from New Zealand's batsmen to lose from here. I must confess that I thought they didn't stand a chance of competing against India in India, but they have proved me wrong; full marks to them for that.

India's bowling really needs to improve, though. Zaheer Khan seems to be the only world class bowler they have, and even he isn't close to being one of the five best fast bowlers in the world today. The problem is with India's spinners really; fast bowling has never really been her strength. It does not matter how many centuries Harbhajan Singh makes; if he fails to bowl a match-winning spell tomorrow, and continues to dish up pies in the next test, he should not go to South Africa. I doubt that will happen though with the moronic selectors India have. Ojha has been okay in comparison, but what is disconcerting is that he is struggling to run through a side on a day 4/day 5 Indian pitch. If an Indian frontline spinner is struggling to run-through a side not reknowed for its ability against spin on a day 4 Indian pitch, then it may be time to look at other options. Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla may have to be considered soon.

The issue with the current bunch of Indian fast bowlers is that they lack discipline and application ; it isn't as though they lack talent or ability. Sreesanth dishes up hit-me boundary balls at an alarming frequency, more often that not just after bowling an absolute peach. Ishant Sharma seems to pick and choose when to perform. Why can't India have a consistent, hard working bowler like, say, :amir ?

I think the best we can do in this series is hold out some cheeky draws, which is more than anyone expected anyway :) We would take a drawn test series against the no. 1 team in the world at home, and it's quite funny to see us putting up more fight than Australia.

3rd test could be very interesting if we go into it 0-0 as expected. India might start to feel the pressure and frustration of not getting a win against a pretty average test side.

IT Khumbee, who would you say are better fast bowlers than Zak? I think he is right up there, and actually a big part of the side being number 1.

Zak is underrated by critics and overrated by supporters. He is very good, but not quite excellent yet. His best was 2008-09, he was really superb then

I loathe Harbhajan, my most hated player, but props to him for his batting. Very impressive. Good to see McCullum defying India who are still on top

I watched Zaheer bowl the other day and paid careful attention to how he works batsmen out.

He's quite clever and really does deserve the praise he gets. The other bowlers were getting hammered around because of their inability to bowl simple line and length. Zaheer Khan not only bowls with accuracy - he actually has started to get the ball to dart around in and out with great accuracy.

Is he as good as Indian fans think he is? Nope. However, he gets the job done from one end.

Zaheer has been over hyped too much over the past 3 or 4 years however in 2010 he's been phenomenal. 40+ wickets at 22 with a strike rate of 40 is no mean feat and on par with the likes of Steyn, Bollinger and Anderson this year. Lets see if he can maintain it though.

wow what a analysis.:17:
did you also know that he can move bowl in and out whenever he want.
what he does.
bowl 3-4 simple ball in a over and than use his inswinger or out swinger effectively.
he is a complete package for team india.

Solid bowler.

Only one from India that I would like to see in our own team right now.

:))

Problem with Zaheer is that he is too injury prone - India play a lot of important test matches next year + the world cup. I have my doubts whether he'll stay fit or not.

Yep ...but we gonna play in bowling friendly conditions where our other bowlers will come good ...I am hoping for this to happen ....:D

Quite disappointing that Indian pitches don't seem to break up any more on days 4 and 5. Great advert for test cricket :(

True - can't wait to see them bowl in England. Last time round Zaheer and RP Singh did a marvellous job backed up by Sreesaanth.

Your batters aren't going to like it, seeing as they 5/15 on a dead flat pitch against Kiwi bowlers.....

Historically they do surprising well in SA and Eng actually although you may have a point when it comes to the likes of Gambhir and Raina.

Yes that was the right warning at right time....we need to cover all bases now and be well prepare ...:D:D ....

Likes of SRT Pujara Laxman Dravid & then Sehwag Ghambhir Raina .....i think we are capable of job done ...only requires application.

Ahh India's chances of a win have gone now.

As compensation to the viewers I hope Williamson gets another ton now and hit's Sreesaanth out of the next test team.

Tend and Laxman are world class so will do well anywhere. It is the others I would be more concerned about.
