Nice piece in Cricinfo about IPL's threat to the game:
"There was immense cynicism over the injuries that ruled some top stars out of Test matches against South Africa recently. Wouldn't it be a coincidence if they all turned up in fine fettle for their opening IPL games? Then again, why should that surprise us? A cricketer makes just over $6,000 for representing India in a Test. Ishant Sharma's IPL fee was $950,000, which equates to $2827 per ball if he bowls his full quota of 56 overs in the competition's league stages.

If international cricket doesn't survive, you know why. And you also know whose hands are stained with blood."

Funny, how Ishant seems all charged up for this game.

Bangalore needs to hire a couple of attacking batsmen ASAP if they need to go anywhere in this tourney.

Dravid has collected a group of batsmen around him who make him look good.
 
money talks...welcome to sports corrupted with money...american sport antics come to cricket...players will get rich...honesty and the spirit of the game will be poor
 
Instant Karma is pretty decent.

Straight away, the black team are bowling much fuller - batsmen cant get under it and hit sixes. And picked up a couple of bowleds

An innings of 40 or 50 may be a fluke...but a 150 odd is no fluke dude...what you just witnessed was something special...pbly nvr gonna happen again in 20-20

well said! but they can always play an attacking cricket with proper shots if they want. They just have to look for the gaps and slice the bat in that target....a true batsmen is someone who can play all around and as required by the run-rate. Today's score was a pretty tough one, but if Dravid and Jaffer really call themselves good batsmen then they should be good enough to chase down a target of 160-180 in T20.

Bangalore given royal treatment by Kolkata. What a start to the IPL. Mega Mega Mega success to this huge event as I predicted. It will attract even BIGGER crowds than WC matches. Looking forward to to see Kings XI Punjab match tom. BTW will it be 100 thousand in Eden Gardens, I read it will be full house and all tickets SOLD OUT for first games already.
 
Poor Shoaib Akhtar could nt join the party with Knight Riders tonight for pathetic DNA and co.

I doubt we will ever see a innings like that from anybody in T20 again or ever in our lifetime. It was a one time innings...66446644664644666...We are all lucky to witness the arrival of the MONSTER called Mccullum.

Or score a first day 100 on a Leeds wicket to tie the series?
