New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the first Test

How is this pitch? Even if it's flat, this would be great improvement. It seems gone are the days of Bangladesh turning up and rolling over. Which is good for cricket.
 
Bangladesh have batted really well here.

Absolutely dominating our trundlers.

It's a road with nothing, not surprised to see our bowlers struggling.
 
This is carnage batting from Bangladesh. Vow never expected to see a scorecard like this. They have smashed 400+ in 100 odd overs on a greenish pitch. This is great batting. They have made us look so poor.

Boult is getting his pace up to the low 140s...thats probably just a tad slower than Taskin. Of course, Taskin isn't exactly express.

But why exactly is de Grandhomme in the side? How did he make the cut? Bowls 120 with no variations other than line and lenght...

Who knows, most of the side isn't international standard.
 
I truly believe this side is going to worse than the WI and Bangladesh, at least those sides have talent coming through the system.

Won't be long before cricket is quickly forgotten again because of horrible performances like this.

While NZ cricket fans attach themselves to second teams who can produce cricket they can enjoy following.

Shakib should show some mercy on those poor Kiwis.

I am expecting NZ to give a firm reply when they get to bat.

Typical Kiwi pitch. Moves a bit on Day-1 and then an absolute belter until Day-5.

Raval is new, Latham never scores big, KW is overrated and will crumble, Taylor while capable is inconsistent, Nicolls - lol, need I say more?, Colin is a hack, Santner is more of a tailender and Watling is on the verge being dropped.

Best bets are Raval and Taylor IMO.

Bond's loss was also huge for NZ.

This looks like an absolute road.

I Shakib and Mushfiqar can score double hundred so can Rawal/KW and Latham. There is nothing in this pitch.

We don't know what Raval is capable of, Latham can't score big regardless of conditions and Kane has been garbage for over a year.

Only batsmen who might go big is Taylor.
 
Even our fielding is mediocre these days.

Another aspect of the game this side is terrible in.

Don't know why you are so pessimistic about Kiwi batting. I feel NZ will easily score 500 when they get to bat.

Rawal is a solid player. Will score a ton easily.
 
Unbelievable batting. Well done BD. One of the best batting displays of recent times puting themlseves in a very strong position to win the test now
 
Good to see BD not going to NZ to simply roll over. It's good for world cricket.
 
Felt shakib became an ordinary batsman but having a double century overseas is a true hall mark of a genuine all-rounder(has 5-fers abroad as well).
 
Shakib is the sixth batsman to score double century in test in NZ. Others to do are J Miandad(271), A De Silva(267), M Yousuf(203), K Sangakkara(203) and Mustaq Mohd(201). Excellent company. All Asian batsmen. No WI,AUS,ENG,SA,ZIM!?

Expect this partnership of Shabbir and Mirza do good. We all are waiting for miraz do good with bat in international because still he doesn't deliver what he is capable with bat.

They shouldnt be ashamed as they have done this many times in their whole career.you are being harsh on them at the end of their career.
 
Shabbir should now smash some and try to get bd close to 600. He should not give strike to others else 600 won't happen.
 
Shakib is a fantastic player! A genuine alrounder and this innings should take him to some other level and he is 29 and he can carry on this form to some more years. Bright days ahead in Bangladesh Cricket. This is pretty impressive performance (most visiting teams struggle in NZ regardless of the quality of NZ team, just because of the conditions there!)
 
Seriously Bangladesh trolled Kiwis big time, failed in their best format only to surprise Kiwis in their worst format. I would have been happier if we won 2 ODI's. Anyone can score double tons in Test, even Gillespie and Wasim has one

We don't have the bowlers to get 20 wkts to win. Draw is likely to happen if bd bowlers don't do some wonders. I am relying on shakib,miraz and shuvashish to do some wonders else draw or loss is on the card.

Latham did perform quite well in India.
 
Think they batted a bit too long for my liking.

Although I wouldn't blame them for doing so.. Their bowling innings will be interesting to see.

Still around 294 overs left, so time is there; but as I said yesterday, I would have loved to see us all-out for 575 yesterday & bowl early morning today. Last 10 overs went for 20 runs, which shouldn't be the case.
 
BAN played well = proved me wrong. i thought they would fold.. but pitch seems to be different from what it appears to be.

Never said they batted slow, just said they batted too long for my liking. Knew that rain ate up a lot of overs.

Sometimes, when there are rain interruptions, you have to be daring as a side to make results possible in your favour. Despite the rain interruption, Bangladesh's fast scoring rate meant that they compensated for the rain ruined time and they could have declared before stumps and had a crack at NZ openers for a few overs.

Anyway let's see what happens tomorrow.
 
Bangladesh should not feel job done here and relax like Pakistan did after getting Australia was strangled.

Kiwis are no push over with the bat. Bangladesh bowing not in the same level as Boult and Southee.
